A migraine is a neurological disorder that can cause severe headaches, sensory overstimulation, and/or nausea. Migraines may be chronic (recurring throughout a person's life). They can have many triggers, and it is possible to treat or prevent them.
Tumblr media
Pain can be described as "throbbing", "spiking", "feeling like their brain is being squeezed", and/or "feeling like somebody is driving nails into their skull". The pain may be concentrated in one area of their head or spread down to their neck.
A person suffering light and sound sensitivity from their migraine may try to find a dark, quiet place to hide.
Migraines can be made worse by moving the head or body at all. This will cause dizziness and nausea, and may lead to the character throwing up from the pain.
Some people experience an aura during their migraine. An aura can cause blurred or lost vision, numbness throughout the body, and/or auditory hallucinations.
Migraines can be caused by stress, hunger, dehydration, fatigue, poor sleep, alcohol/caffeine (including withdrawal), changes in the weather, and/or menstruation.
Depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder can cause migraines.
Treatments for migraine that don't involve modern medicine are few and far between. The most common methods are sleep and muscle relaxation. Feverfew is a more traditional remedy that doesn't bring immediate relief and has mixed results overall.
Tumblr media
Four is the most popular character to headcanon as suffering from migraines. They are usually triggered by portals, splitting, or The Colors making a racket in the headspace.
Do you headcanon any characters to have any of the above triggers that could cause a migraine? How many symptoms would they experience? How would they react?
How would the Chain try to take care of a member suffering from a migraine? Would any of them know remedies that could help?

Linked Universe Disability Pride!
Hello and welcome to the Linked Disability creation event! There will be a list of prompts dedicated to diversifying the cast of Linked Universe. The event will run through the month of July.
Meet the mods:
@triforce-of-mischief (she/they) @batrogers (any/none) @factorialrabbits (he/him) @seatrisa (she/her) graphics by @zarvasace
Them's the rules:
There will be 15 main prompts along with some alternate prompts. They are not limited to any specific days in July.
You can combine as many prompts as you want.
There is no deadline.
There is no minimum requirement of creation.
There is no completionist prize.
Writing and art of any media are encouraged.
You do not have to create something new for this event. If you have already created something that fits a prompt, you may share it.
This blog will highlight participants who create their own post and @ the blog. We reserve the right to not reblog entries that we have determined to be excessively insensitive or ableist. Do not let this discourage you from doing your research and branching out! If you're concerned your idea might cross a line, please reach out! We're happy to help guide you in the right direction.
Please reblog this post so the event can gain visibility!

Meet the Mods!
@triforce-of-mischief
Hi! I'm Fable (she/they), triforce_of_mischief on AO3. I'll be the head mod for this event but I couldn't do this without my team of friends <3 I haven't written about all of these (yet) but I have personal experience with migraines, an eating disorder, vision issues, mystery joint problems, and autism. My favorite LU Link is definitely Legend, and I write him as very autistic. I also tend to write him with some kind of phobia, which is its own kind of disability.
@batrogers
Tassledown on AO3, Batrogers here. Been writing & drawing for fandom purposes for over 20 years, and done extensive research into disability tropes and lived experiences for a variety of works. Currently live with chronic pain & food issues. My main LU works are Time-with-PTSD as a series, and the Dollfics (…only somewhat related to disability LOL.)
@factorialrabbits
Hi there, I'm factorial, he/him. I've been more out than in the lu (and zelda) fandom for a little while, though I'm mostly likely to be recognised for tormenting fairies, else particularly horrifying interpretations of injuries and healing magic. As might be expected from that combo, I have a paticular fondness for fairy!Hyrule works. More generally, I often joke that I've been making fanworks for over 25 years, but I've been sharing them online under various usernames and on various sites for just under 17. I have multiple disabilities, requiring a carer, various aides, and adapting life around them. My favourite of these is my hot water dispenser, but probably the most useful are my wheelchairs (one manual, which I need someone to push but can fold into a car, and one electric, which I usually forget to charge). Mod wise I'll probably be in and out as my health and responsibilities fluctuate; whether I post again here or just do things behind the scenes, it's a pleasure to meet you all.
@seatrisa
Hi, I'm Seatrisa here and Seatrisa16 on A03. Pronous: she/her. Mostly able-bodied and still learning about disability. Only here to help where I can. I've only been in Fandom for about a year, so don't have much writing wise.
