If you like Hawai'i because it's fucking beautiful and the waters are perfectly clear.
Then you should support the decolonization of Hawai'i and give it back to the indigenous peoples there because they are why it's so beautiful and the waters are perfectly clear.
And while we're at it support #Land Back because if we give authority to care for the indigenous people here on the main land, we can probably have a place that's that beautiful as well (assuming it's not too far gone yet).

This is so important when dealing with the misconception of black history and what Americans are taught about the Civil Rights Movement.

I love that the internet saw people comparing women and other alienated groups of people and went, “they’re dating,” and, “they support each other.” We’re improving as a society.

Just another reminder for white fans and light-skinned fans to please, please always make sure the content you're rbing is not whitewashed. It's so fucking frustrating to see people constantly rbing/retweeting art and edits that are so clearly whitewashed and just straight up not noticing or even caring. Always double check!! This isn't up for debate!! Fans of color have to curate our dashes so specifically to not see that and it hurts when mutuals rb racist posts. It takes less than a second to look at the post again and make sure it's not whitewashed. Do better.

what are non-helia stans getting wrong about helia?
Ooh,, Well honestly, a lot. Big warning that I'm not trying to be mean or petty here! I just see a lot of people mischaracterize him and while I usually don't have a big issue with that, it's gotten to a point where a majority of the fandom thinks fanon Helia is canon Helia (and often criticize or hate him for it by extension [because fanon Helia is boring and pretentious and egotistic]).
I talk a little about some of the mischaracterizations here, here, here, here, here, here, and I know there was another post (the one about Helia and NabuI) but i can't find it. Also, I'm realizing just how much I talk about this actually. Obviously, you don't have to read all of these because I'm still going to talk about it here!
Major points would be:
Most people still think he's a pacifist/was a pacifist/is being a hypocrite for not being a pacifist (literally what). However, Helia was likely never actually a pacifist, and Brandon only thought that due to either rumors or Helia dropping out and him assuming why. While Helia does for the most part stay in defensive positions, he's been shown in offensive ones since S2 (and Brandon saying otherwise isn't actually a solid case). This is the biggest mischaracterization that gets disproven by canon in the early and later seasons and yet somehow it's still a thing.
Another, similar to the first one, is that Helia hates violence, the military, and especially Red Fountain. And again, yet another thing that gets greatly disproven multiple times. Now obviously we all hate the military in the real world, but hopefully, the Magix Dimension doesn't have evil corrupt ones yadda yadda. Helia respects Red Fountain and the work specialists do and the only reason he leaves is simply that he wants to be an artist. Not because he hates fighting or the school. (And he doesn't have a bad or damaged relationship with Saladin? I literally have no idea where that came from because they have one of the healthiest familial relationships in the entire show.)
Quite a few people think he isn't as close to the other Specialists or Winx as they are to each other. Maybe this is because he was introduced in the second season and was rarely shown in the third, but that's not true. Multiple times throughout canon it's shown that he considers them his close friends and home. He trusts them with information and his life. This isn't one-sided either. The other Specialists and Winx view him the same way they view everyone else. This fanon trait often goes hand in hand with the previous one.
Oh, this one actually bothers me a lot. A surprising amount of people think of Helia as "stuck up/pretentious/egotistic/etc" (basically anything where someone thinks they're better than other people). And once again, all of this is extremely disproven by canon. I don't know if it's because he's an artist and a guy (ie male artists often having the stereotype of being pretentious little freaks), but Helia isn't like and he never was. He's a perfectionist that freaks out if he makes a mistake or doesn't meet his standards for himself. But he doesn't do that to other people. Helia is often shown supporting the others by telling them that what they're doing is enough and that they need to ease up on themselves. He's hypocritical in that way, as people often are, because he doesn't listen to his own advice. He doesn't act snobby about art and he's extremely supportive of the ways the others want to express themselves. His being a perfectionist and worrying that he isn't doing good enough doesn't make him egotistic either. Like. That's not what that means.
Oh! A weird one; people still believe Helia never gets jealous and that he's the perfect boyfriend. Like. Literally how? While it's definitely not on the same level as some of the others, Helia does get jealous and he certainly isn't a perfect boyfriend. He tends to forget to tell Flora things, often retreats into himself or runs away, and he almost never calls Flora out when she's doing something wrong (aka just blindly supporting because he's in love and she can do no wrong in his eyes). They definitely aren't as bad as Skoom or Rivusa, but they definitely have their own problems, and trying to reduce them down to "the perfect couple that never fights or gets jealous or has any problems at all" is a little weird and not at all accurate.
Ohhh, some people might hate me for this but Helia is not in fact the mom friend. He is so far from the mom friend. Yes, he's caring, and yes, he often gives the others advice and support, and yes, he's definitely calmer and more mature than some of them. And while all of that combined could make him the mom friend, it doesn't because of a key factor. Helia thinks the chaos they get into is funny as hell. As long as no one is getting badly hurt or putting others in danger, he's all for whatever anyone wants to do. Helia is so ready to just drop whatever he's doing and go with them on whatever random, weird as fuck thing they want to do and he rarely if ever tries to disagree. Helia is bit,, down to clown
also some people think he doesn't have a sense of humor meanwhile he's out there sassing the specialists and old people left and right 😭? he canonically laughs at bad jokes and tries to pull silly little pranks 😭 like where does he give the impression that he has no sense of humor? back in early s2 when we didn't know enough about him? yeah okay babes
