IDA Final
This infographic poster advocates for local library support and community engagement. Through the use of textures, color scheme and layout, this poster successfully creates a pleasing aesthetic and portrays the library in a new light. Today, many people look at libraries as an outdated resource. For the past few years however, libraries have been evolving to keep up within the digital age. The interesting thing about this topic is that the library can benefit all ages.  This poster was designed with a balance between fun and sophisticated in mind. The pastel colors and the digitalized pressed flowers were representative of the new and fun innovation atmosphere of the library. The structure of the poster was heavily based around the book pages displaying the information. These books pages were designed to be easily read, as the book page format is very familiar to the typical viewer. The elements surrounding the book pages such as the pink post-it note and the index card are eye-catching, so they contain important calls to action. The pressed flowers helped to create unity throughout the poster as well. The overall aesthetic achieved was based upon the ability to create a relationship between digitalized graphics and real textures. The book cloth texture of the poster title and the book page paper were the prominent examples of real texture embedded throughout this poster. The highlighted words of the pages were also used strategically, to inform the viewer of what the important take-aways of the poster are.

IDA Design Proposal:
I am trying to advocate for local library support and community engagement. Today, many people look at libraries as an outdated resource. For the past few years however, libraries have been evolving to keep up within the digital age. The interesting thing about this topic is that the library can benefit all ages, so I am really trying to reach people from ages 10-60+. Due to this wide range, I tried to make my design fun and colorful while remaining sophisticated. This is an important issue to talk about because without community support and engagement, libraries will lose funding and become a thing of the past. There is still so much value in going to the library and libraries have really evolved into becoming more of a service-based area that provides programming and other resources to the community. Beyond being an excellent academic resource, libraries can be places of community collaboration and growth. Libraries offer a wide range of services ranging from child programming to career and college readiness programs. I think just a general lack of awareness and information is prohibiting public libraries from flourishing. People are unaware of the immense number of new resources that the library offers and bringing awareness to this issue can help draw people to their local libraries. I will be using my design to inform the community on the numerous resources that the library offers. I will be using a pastel color palette, digitally drawn pressed flowers, and a paper-like texture as graphical elements to help me illustrate this topic.
