Considering the unlikelihood of someone naturally coming across every available copy of a super rare drop item, this hypothetical is so absurd it really isn’t worth worrying about. And no, taking away the copies of a rare item from a player isn’t the answer to breaking up monopolies. In my opinion, it’s to add more of that item into the game.

Using Solaris as an example, a number of copies of Solaris in an LD raffle created by the admins could help weaken monopolization attempts on the item as:

it would be much harder to monopolize Solaris applicators now that they’re a little more abundant and the resources to buy all/the majority of them wouldn’t be worth it.

If Solaris apps get into the hands of other sellers, it would help lower prices and create competition for that item again rather than one player having all copies of Solaris and controlling the market for it.

It would discourage richer players from further attempts at monopolizing rare items as it would only hurt them than anyone else.

I wouldn't think this to be a perfect solution. But it’d be a better response than taking away someone’s earnings. And it’d be a much better response than just Jumanji-ing the “no hurting the economy” rule into oblivion cause you hate having your more critical players be right about something, god forbid.

"THAT'S what makes monopolies so damaging when there are 9 of a type of item in a game with hundreds of thousands of players." So what's the limit? A person can only own one of them? When others were for sale, what was to stop other people from buying them? What if one person found all of them? Should they be forced to hand some over to other players? Didn't realize this was a communist game...

just seems like lioden is so… cutthroat and self-important these last couple years. it wasn’t like this in 2013 ;o people were definitely still greedy and competitive, but it wasn’t an ‘i’m better than you because MY lions whatever’ situation. i’m not really on the site for friends or the community because, like i said, i actually do have friends and shit to do most of the time. lioden is a game, and i will always see it as that. it’s just fun to play, to manage a pride and have cubs and whatnot. i realize that some people are really into it and invest their rent money in it and it’s that important to them, but that doesn’t mean they should get to bitch to everyone else that they aren’t playing the way they want them to
