You just spent the better part of your life building this damn tower then some pink haired mfer rocks up out of nowhere, in sandals no less, eats a fucking rock (basically a poison rock from your tower) ascends to godhood for 5 seconds and beats the shit out of you.

That is the modern day equivalent of a crackhead walking into corporate tower, eating the asbestos off the walls to beat up the corporate head only to home with a minor tummy ache after.

Of course Jellal had to turn over a new leaf after that. How do you recover emotionally from something like that.
