Zuckerberg Thinks Twitter Was Wrong
Twitter was criticized by Facebook CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, when the platform fact-checked President Donald Trump’s tweet about voting.

When President Trump took to Twitter his view about mail-in voting, the micro-blogging platform tagged his tweet. The labels didn’t hide the tweets or call them false. Instead, it pointed users to a fact-checking page. The link to a page contains information that contradicts the president’s assertions. This is the first time that Twitter has ever marked or labeled any of President Trump’s tweets. But, the chief executive of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg, has a different view about Twitter’s action of fact-checking Trump. Would you agree with Zuckerberg? Read this first.
Zuckerberg Does Not Agree With Fact Checking
Early this year, Twitter introduced new labels and warnings for Tweets that contain manipulated media or questionable information. The labels will then link to an external trusted source or a Twitter-curated page that contains additional information on the claim made in the Tweet. This is why Trump’s tweet was fact-checked by the platform. Then, they provided a link to a page that disputes his claim about voter fraud with mail-in voting.
However, for Mark Zuckerberg, fact-checking on social media should not be done by them. In an interview with Fox News, he said that private companies should not be “the arbiter of truth”, especially social media platforms. They “shouldn’t be in the position of doing that”, he added.
The CEO of one of the largest social media platforms in the world stated that they probably have a different policy than Twitter on cases like these. Their approach is different as they do not intervene when it comes to censoring posts by the public unless there is an imminent threat.
Unlike Twitter, Facebook doesn’t have any policy of putting a label or warning in front of a post that may provoke violence. For them, if a post incites violence, then it should be deleted whether it may be newsworthy or not.
In order to combat the spread of malicious content and misinformation on Facebook, the company established a robust integrity team. They have strengthened the company’s practices and policies in order to minimize harmful content. They also continue to research the impact of the platform on society to improve its services.
Facebook has also developed a set of policy and Community Standards outlining what’s allowed and what’s not on the platform. They continue to update their guidelines to meet the changing needs of its users. In addition, the company works with different fact-checking organizations, although they refrain from fact-checking posts from politicians.
In the past, Facebook has faced a lot of criticisms both from the public and the government for the lack of action when dealing with controversial posts or content on the platform. But, it seems that the company CEO does not have any plans to alter its policy.

Google, on the other hand, has remained noticeably silent on the issue over fact-checking Trump’s tweet. It is of note, though, that the company often deals with the same issue regarding moderating political content due to its video-sharing platform.
Twitter CEO, Jack Dorsey, argued in one of his series of tweets that fact-checking Trump’s tweets don’t make them an arbiter of truth. He said that they will continue to point out any disputed or incorrect information regarding elections globally. What they aim is to show the information in question and connect the dots of contradicting statements so that the public can judge what is right for them.
The Result of Twitter’s Fact-checking of Trump’s Tweet
After Twitter labeled two of Trump’s tweets, Trump did not just threaten Twitter, but called out on all social tech companies. News then broke that he signed an executive order that will seek to limit social media companies’ legal protection and restrict how platforms moderate content.
Social media platforms, including Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter, have been protected by law under Section 230 of the 1996 Communications Decency Act. In essence, this says that these companies aren’t liable for the content the users post on their platform. But, if the signed executive order takes effect, tech companies could lose their protection from Section 230.
Trump feels that social media companies can do what they want because they have a shield. But, with the new executive order, they aren’t going to have that protection anymore. The order might undermine the legal protection enjoyed by social media platforms. · To start a new chat with a messenger friend, you will need to locate a friend from your contact list.
· Once you select the person, you will be sent to your chat page.
·  For old friends click on the pencil icon and pick them out from the older chat list.
To type a message
Click or tap the typing area at the base of the message to input your text.
You can involve emoji using your phone or tablet's emoji keyboard if you wish.
To insert emoji on a computer, tap the smiley face icon on the right side of the typing region to unwrap the panel.
Then click the emoji you want to include.
After inputting texts or messages, you can send them by tapping the airplane icon located at the bottom right corner of the chat.
Your messages will be delivered.
To check message status
Message status can be checked to know if your message has been sent, received or read.
If you see the light blue circle beside your message, then it is still sending.
If you see a marked sign within the circle, then it has been sent.
If the loop gets darker, later the message has been received.
A small caption of their profile picture will appear when the message has been read.
To take live pictures or recording
Pictures can be taken while on the app and sent.
Just tap the camera icon, and it will send you to a camera mode.
Take the picture by clicking the capture button
Else, hold on to the caption button for a while for the camera to be changed to a video recording.
Messenger will not let you record anything longer than a quarter of a minute.
If your finger leaves the recording button, it will seize recording and you can either save or delete it.
You can also swap between the back and front camera to capture both views.
Once you are done, taking a picture or recording, you can send by clicking on the icon that looks like a paper plane.
Sending stored files and images
Saved images or documents can be sent through the app.
Just click on the attach button that has a paper clip icon.
Then click on the location of the image or file, search for the file
And then click send.
Sending Animated GIFs
GIFs are animated images that are used for quick reactions. They are used to express feelings, emotions. Messenger app will let you send a GIF to spice up your conversation.
Click on the GIF icon and the popular or latest GIFs will pop up first.
You can search for a GIF using keywords of emotion, location or names.
Once you find your choice, you can click on it and hit send or add.
To use the microphone
The microphone will let you voice record a message and send to your chats.
To record, hold down the icon and say what you have to.
