By way of reminder:
We rely in part upon you.
If you know of published work emerging from, or written by an author whose background is in, fandom - any fandom -, do tell us so that we may note it. And if you are such an author, don’t for God’s sake be shy.

Cross and Poppy, GMW Wemyss
First of a series under this pen-name of works not without vague links to the fandom of A Popular Beat Combo, M’Lud. (Sequel later this year.)
Has the work, in other form, a fandom presence? Not as such; some characters and events have.
Milieu: English village life; the C of E; Remembrance Sunday.
Setting & fidelity: Quite possibly impenetrably British to some overseas readers.
TV Tropes page: Yes.
Likely appeal to: Fen of A Popular Beat Combo, M’Lud; ‘Downton Abbey’ fans; OT5 fen; AU fen; fans of Austen, Miss Read, and Barbara Pym; fans of Wodehouse-and-Pterry-style humour; fans of Trollope; Michael Innes fans; cricket fans. Has one M/M partnership and one M/M chastity couple.

Pull Me Under, Zarah Detand
One of several works under this pen-name adapted from works originating in the fandom of A Popular Beat Combo, M’Lud.
Has the work, in other form, a fandom presence? Yes … if one knows where to look.
Milieu: Premier League football; PR and management.
Setting & fidelity: Largely keen-eared evocation of its British setting, with vanishingly few errors. I believe the author is from the Continent, which helps, rather.
TV Tropes page: None at time of posting.
Likely appeal to: Fen of A Popular Beat Combo, M’Lud; aficionados of M/M romance; AU fen; followers and supporters of Premier League football (although not, alas, Spurs); fans of John King, Brian Glanville, and David Peace … if those fans should be very open-minded. (Do not mention Nick Sodding Hornby.)

Rebel Strings, Laurel Alexander
One of several works under this pen-name adapted from works originating in the fandom of A Popular Beat Combo, M’Lud; by a duo writing together after the fashion of ‘Emma Lathen’ or Somerville & Ross.
Has the work, in other form, a fandom presence? Yes.
Milieu: Classical music.
Setting & fidelity: Lightly (and no doubt unconsciously) Americanised London & the Continent, but not so much so as to ruin the book.
TV Tropes page: None at time of posting.
Likely appeal to: Fen of A Popular Beat Combo, M’Lud; aficionados of M/M romance; fans with some knowledge of Classical music; fans somewhere between the Vikram Seth set and the Jilly Cooper Appasionata sort.

Here beginneth the Lesson.
Right, Here’s the picture.
Large imprints and houses have begun to twig to fandom; and have begun to push authors whose roots are in fandom (and, not infrequently, whose works are simply bog-standard fan-fics with the names changed). Typically, they’ve chosen the ghastliest work from the most appalling fen.
Yet there is good work being published, independently and by small publishers, which has, or the authors of which have, roots in fandom. And it is being too much ignored: which merely encourages the Big Beasts to sign more shit writing.
Well, bugger that.
If you support good writing that happens to have links to prior fandom experience (whatever that fandom may have been), support the writers in their professional efforts. Support them with buzz; and support them with dosh.
This blog exists to support them with buzz, encouraging all concerned to support them with dosh. We wish very much to know about any published work by past or present fen. Our first three entries (because they are the three we know of thus far) happen to involve (or to contain in passing) M/M romance, but that is not a necessity or a particular desideratum. We wish to know of all published work by former or present fan-writers. across the board. We may be contacted readily, here or by email to wemyssinwilts[chez]gmail[full stop]com.
Suggestions for a better format (although we cannot review works and take no responsibility for quality or suitability) are welcome.
