Activity 2. Write a blog entry about the poem "Apo on the wall". In the blog entry, include the following:Why you like this poem; how it made you feel; the message you got from it; and how it affects your appreciation of the past and present. Answer: I like the poem because it talks about discipline. It made me feel that discipline must be take action in every moment because it will help us to be a good person. It affects me because in the past, children especially in the martial law era are discipline appropriately because militory has take over on those days. Now, in our present era some children does not respect the elderly and the people around them. They are lack of discipline and respect. It affects because I am living in an era of generation that is full of disrespectful and undisciplined people.

In the poem the persona is full of curiosity and the personas father is a disciplined man or I could say that he is a soldier. It is similar because in the poem the personas father disciplines his child just like my father always do to me.Snappuly or snapped means alert or able to move quickly. They used it in the poem as an expression to be alert. The poem says “ Father snapped at me”. It Means that be caught him of what his about to do. It adds to my understanding. Of how a father disciplines and cares for his child. Apo in the poem,is the boss of his father. His father was a soldier in the era of martial law so it means that Apo is the former president, the dictator himself Ferdinand Marcos. The persona’s father is a soldier and apo is a his commander-in-chief in the military. It tells us about martial law is a disciplinary era and the military has the power in our our country. Discipline , respect and courage is the values that the persona’s father wants to teach him. I really agree on these values because these are the values that makes a man. Without these values you are not a person. Apo is compared to the scary Jesus became just like Jesus has power but a lot scarier because he kills people in that era. They are people who takes over a certain group. They just want to discipline the persons or the people they care about. It Means the apo is watching him. The persona’s behavior was changed and he fell scared as app on the wall watches him. Because the persona is being disciplined and he feels scared because of the people dying around him and his father is the disciplines and the one who kills the rebels. It provides an idea of what martial law was like. Because martial law only goal is to provide discipline to the citizens of the Philippines. The poem made me feel that is really difficult to live in the martial law era.
