it is honestly so strange seeing people become so uptight over trans men and nonbinary people who are affected by transandrophobia - speaking out about their own unique experiences with oppression. it would be way different if a trans man were to say "everything is bad because of every trans person who isn't a trans man!" but all we're actually doing is speaking out about how in the cishet ran world, we also experience our own unique forms of oppression due to being affected by both transphobia and the patriarchy. but then we're told to sit down and shut up and that our experiences with oppression will never matter. and this behavior towards trans men and nonbinary people comes from all groups of people whether they are cis or trans or whatever and the majority of them wouldn't dare say these kinds of things to anyone who isn't a trans man or nonbinary person. they also treat the term transandrophobia as if it's a forbidden or non serious word which doesn't make sense considering the word genuinely isn't taking away from anyone else's experiences and instead is giving a voice to those whom are often ignored and unheard. it's genuinely weird behavior and i honestly believe that if you can't distinguish the fact that trans men do not hold the same power cis men do and you also completely ignore the trans part in front of "trans man/men" then you really need to work on your internalized transphobia because doing that is without a doubt transphobia. i repeat, erasing the trans identity from a trans person IS transphobia. it's time to stop projecting your own self hatred onto us.

I've been seeing this article used to explain that trans women have it worse than trans men due to a pay gap.
First of all, the article leads to this, which is also not a study, its just another article about a survey from the same news outlet. This is referenced numerous times for other, unrelated statistics about trans women. Now, that does have a whole lot of statistics about trans women, but it also has a lot of statistics about all trans people.
Tumblr media
[source for that graph btw - i suggest reading that study. its got a lot of interesting information with extensive graphs and mentions of variables]
I had to look through numerous reports because the article did not specify which one the graph about the wage gap was from. Turns out, its none of them.
Went back to the article looked at the other one it was referencing, trying to find an actual source. Found this press release, which does not even contain any statistics regarding transgender men.
Ok I managed to find this, which appears to be the source of the numbers in the wage gap graph. This is still not really a great source on the topic outside of a very, very narrow subject. The survey consisted of less than 7k people who were all employed already, so, not a great survey to use when discussing an entire community of people. Go read the explanation/summary/etc for yourself, but spoiler - even that acknowledges that this statistic has very narrow application.
One study of a couple thousand employed trans people that concluded that of the people surveyed...
Tumblr media
This study doesn't account for a lot of variables. The study itself acknowledges that it doesn't account for a lot of variables. I really don't think that this is a great example of of trans men having things better than trans women, but whatever
I think that the article being passed around is very misleading on its own. It has information both from a very extensive study that meticulously surveyed tens of thousands of people, and a graph that was made from information from a very very narrow study of less than 7k people. The information is presented in a very misleading way with a focus on transgender women.
I'm not saying anything on the topic of who has it better or worse, I'm just saying that this information was presented in an extremely biased and misleading way. The actual numbers at hand are not very useful outside of a very, very small application. Do go read that bigger study though. That's very interesting and has a lot of breakdowns by both race and gender.
ok bye

was talking to my mom about how white people ignore the contributions of poc to academia and I found myself saying the words "I bet those idiots think Louis Pasteur was the first to discover germ theory"
which admittedly sounded pretentious as fuck but I'm just so angry that so few people know about the academic advancements during the golden age of Islam.
Islamic doctors were washing their hands and equipment when Europeans were still shoving dirty ass hands into bullet wounds. ancient Indians were describing tiny organisms worsening illness that could travel from person to person before Greece and Rome even started theorizing that some illnesses could be transmitted
also, not related to germ theory, but during the golden age of Islam, they developed an early version of surgery on the cornea. as in the fucking eye. and they were successful
and what have white people contributed exactly?
please go research the golden age of Islamic academia. so many of us wouldn't be alive today if not for their discoveries
people ask sometimes how I can be proud to be Muslim. this is just one of many reasons
some sources to get you started:
but keep in mind, it wasn't just science and medicine! we contributed to literature and philosophy and mathematics and political theory and more!
maybe show us some damn respect

I hate when people insist there would be no wars if women were in charge, because thats definitely not true. There's currently women in power who are just as warmongering as the men, they just happen to not be the President. To insist that women being primarily in power would suddenly fix everything is Bioessentialism and is incorrect

Ūropi (Europe)
Ūropi, also known by its indigenous name “Europe”, meaning “wide-gazing” or “broad of aspect”, is a small continent first discovered in 1806 by Moehanga of Ngāpuhi, although indigenous Europeans had been living there for many thousands of years. Modern researchers believe the indigenous Europeans originally migrated from the Middle East, and over time split into separate tribes or “kingdoms,” with many retaining their ancient rangatira (called “monarchs” or “nobility”) to this day.
While many see Ūropi as timeless and exotic, indigenous Europeans have actually adapted well to the modern economy, often exporting cultural products like baguettes and vodka, the former of which may be recognisable as the basis for bánh mì.

Where have people gotten this idea that it’s a bad thing to have an individual’s focus be on trans men’s issues?

shinigami eyes isn't flagging new terf blogs and seems to be starting to unflag existing ones. the extension is unsafe for trans women and they are prioritizing intersexist discourse over the safety of trans women. uninstall this shit right now if you care about trans women, especially if you are one yourself

Trans men are fucking awesome and trans men have always been here and will be forever
And each trans man deserves to have his pronouns and identity respected EVEN WITHOUT being lumped in with the wretched cisoids
If you disagree I will fucking find you and kill you very slowly and painfully 😊

Hey Gang reminder if you don't understand a certain trans identity, can we remember to not immediately jump the gun to evil creepy Male Predator invading women's spaces accusations?
It's very easy to just not use a ghoulish argument that's been getting trans people (especially trans women) killed and oppressed since the dawn of time, and no you're not actually protecting innocent women from "EVIL PREDATORY MEN" this time around.
Stop reinventing 'men invading womens spaces' when you're discussing trans people of any kind in your feminism. If you're saying this regarding trans people something has gone deeply wrong with your understanding of feminism.

im not trying to sound like im doubtful, but could you perhaps go into more specifics surrounding exactly how this whole "transmasc trafficking ring run by transfems in the middle east" thing you claim is happening like even works? im not saying it isn't happening or that youre a liar, i just think its pretty understandable to be skeptical of such an extraordinary claim
Sure. To be clear, this is not a global trafficking ring, which does any kind of transportation, nor is it unique to the middle east- I am from Pakistan lol. Its also not some devious group of trans women just kidnapping random transmascs.
Its a system that evolved due to a numbers game more than anything. This is common in countries where (known/out) trans women outnumber trans men like 6-7:1. Since there is, albeit meagre, occasionally history, records or even occasionally existing communities for transfem gender identities, transfem communities are pretty much the only ones that exist. To my knowledge, there are no 'transmasc' communities.
This results in young trans mascs, who are usually kicked out of their homes/escaping child marriage/running from dangerous situations, to be completely reliant on a group, which does not give them equal status.
This environment is ripe for coercion, and over time, sometimes develops into a form of trafficking. Usually not selling for money, but often these transmascs can be traded among the community, or even with another community, in exchange for favours, valuables, in some cases food, or better street territory.
Here in Pakistan for example we have Khawaja Sira, which is related to the old identity of hijra. This means all trans communities are focused around a certain perisex transfem model, which enables transmascs, or certain kinds of intersex people to become a subclass, vulnerable to all kinds of exploitation and trafficking.
This can range from being domestic servants, begging, prostitution and public sex work, or sometimes internal sex work and other kinds of labour.
I don't know how common it is in other countries. But currently, I have spoken to other victims from Pakistan, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Oman, Iran, Yemen and Jordan.
