Grell peaked out of her fingers and peered at the man as he searched in his briefcase. What is he doing? Ill go get napkins! she thought to herself. she ran and took a handful of napkins from a nearby table, apologizing at the old lady she interrupted. She ran-more like hobbled, to the man and started to dab the hot coffee off his chest. “Oh my boss is going to be so mad at me! I’m gonna be fired! Oh no! I ruined your clothes! let me pay for it!” she blubbered, anxiety getting the worst of her.

Grell angrily stormed down the street, her heels clicking behind her. Her boss was worked up and angry at her for being late, and sent her to go fetch coffee before the meeting began-or she would lose her job. she quickly grabbed the large order and hastily left, her coat blowing behind her. she held the trays of scalding coffee in one hand as she raced towards the exit of the coffee shop, getting ready to open it–when her heel broke, causing the scalding hot coffee to fly. The coffee landed on a male, a tall and handsome one at that. Grell sat on her bottom, her broken heel wobbling, staring dazed at the man.

“Oh dear! I am so sorry! I’m so clumsy!” she blubbered in her hands embarrassed at herself.

Why does Grell love dark-haired men the most?

I guess, I found the reason why Grell loves dark-haired men in black clothes the most. Of course, Grell is fangirling over every handsome men (Undertaker, Pluto, Kirito), but only Sebastian and William are Grell’s favorite ones. And there is the answer to that question in the first and third musicals.

There is Grell’s and Sebastian’s song called «Red or Black?», where Grell explains why they is fond of Sebastian. Grell sings: «Red seems to seethe when stained with black. I cannot blend with anyone other than you». It means Grell can be in a relationship only with a person in black, because only that color can awake their true passion and feelings.

Pretty much the same thing Grell sings in the third musical. «Akai shitsuji no shinigami DEATH☆» is a song which is also about colors. Grell sees themself as the Red color, so they wants to have the Black person by their side in case to become even brighter near such person. Also it seems, Grell finds the Red color as the color of Gods, because only «the Red is reflected in the dark», so Grell is the color, which can beat the darkest color of all, the Black one. That’s because Grell sees their relationships with Sebastian as neverending passionate battle. Grell wants to fight with Sebastian in case to be sure that their color can win the strongest color of all (I remember such theme of colors in Togainu no Chi, where Shiki wore black clothes and was the strongest man in town. And the Black is explained there as the strongest and deadly color).

Also I remembered the first meeting between Sebastian and shinigami!Grell. Grell said, they wants Sebastian to be covered with perfect red colour to become even more beautiful. I see this scene as a battle of colors too, because «paint out the Black using the Red» really means «to kill» in my kind of view and Grell exactly wants to do this with Sebastian. 

Anyway, Sebastian is sure that «the Black will paint out the Red» and not vice versa. He wins every battle with Grell and he explains this by using colors. It’s like he is sure that he will kill Grell with his own hands in the end. 

So, Grell has feelings towards Sebastian because of the Black color, but at the same time Grell needs to win a battle against this color. It’s like hate and love all rolled into one and Grell often points this out. Their relationships show completely opposite sides and it’s the reason why it seems so interesting to watch after this neverending battle with no winner and no loser among these two colors.

«Red Theatre» chapter

Today I realised that Grell really had feelings for Madam Red. I thought it was some kind of affection towards Angelina, because of her red hair, red dress and red lipstick and they were just companions, not beloved ones. But then I found chapter in Rainbow Butler, where Grell’s feelings are shown so clear.

As I know, Rainbow Butler is the series of doujinshis made by Yana and other mangakas. And it’s kinda official doujinshis, I guess. And in these doujinshis are shown side-stories of some Kuro characters.

To speak about this chapter, its title is «Red Theatre» and it shows one day of Madam Red and Grell as her hopeless butler.

Chapter starts at Grell made an awful tea what makes Madam Red very angry. And Grell bursts into tears because of her rudeness when she’s gone.

Grell wants to leave her because of such attitude to shinigami, but then remembers the day when they started to be partners and Angelina shared her wine with them.

Grell even blushed because of her sincere words.

And back in present, Angelina bought cookies to celebrate their one-month anniversary and tells Grell about that. And… just look at Grell at this moment. That blush! These eyes full of tears of shock and pure happiness. Grell is so happy here…

And this hug. I even saved this panel on my pc, because it’s so beautiful and innocent. Grell didn’t hug Will or Sebastian as tender as they hug Angelina here. And Grell blushes only to people they really loves as I remember.

I’m sure Grell wears her coat not because it’s red, it would be very simple to Toboso-san’s ideas. Maybe Grell wants her to be with them all their life, ‘cause… well, they were soulmates and Grell believed in her and thought Angelina is the only person who can understand them. She was the closest one to Grell and this was the reason why that reaper couldn’t forget her betrayal. Anyway, it’s very sad that Grell killed her because of the emotions. I’m sure they regrets about that rash act, because Grell takes care after her coat and wears it with real love.

Now there’s a mental image for you. Grell’s wearing her prettiest dress or skirt. Ronald showed up wearing shorts and a t-shirt. Everyone is wearing something different and comfortable.

William loosened his tie….slightly.
