The emotion humans called 'joy' was written all over the girl's face and Kyubey knew that was a good sign. For some reasons these beings were easier to approach when their mood was positive and they tended to react differently if their mood was bad. It was quite fascinating how differently a conversation could go depending on that.
"You have only one wish, so you should be absolutely sure it's what you really want. It is in exchange for your soul after all."
And one's soul was important to a human after all, that much the incubator was aware of. "And that is correct. I fulfill your wish and you work for me, as you put it. All you have to do is fight witches. That is what the contract is about. You don't have to sign a paper though. Once your wish is fulfilled, the contract is sealed. It would be hard for me to sign it too with my paws after all!" And why carrying unnecessary things like papers around.
Are you ready to battle the witches? [@kotone]

Hm, looked like Kyubey didn't have to waste more thoughts on what she called mana. Surely he couldn't tell if she calculated it properly and if it really would be a risk, but it isn't as if he desperately needed such a method, though it had sounded like a nice idea. He wouldn't need such a thing as of now anyway, but it wasn't wrong to keep that knowledge somewhere back in his mind.
"It's quite simple! Emotions are a rather strong part of someone, so naturally they do have a big influence on someone's thoughts and what their next actions will be."
"And it appears to be quite difficult for a human's mind to keep in mind what their goal even is and emotions complicate such things a lot. They lead to actions that make no sense. Emotions take up such a big part in a human's life that other parts suffer from it. There is only so much your mind can process after all and you are limited."
So a wizard was different from a human? Kyubey couldn't quite tell the difference, but there was no need to offend her for no reason either if she didn't want to be referred to as human. From what he could tell, the only difference was that she had some magical powers, but even humans had that potential. Maybe at least in his world, it might be different in others. "Is selflessness equal to being a good person? I never intended to say that selfishness is necessarily a bad trait. Good and bad are words with no meaning to me! I do not judge anyone for having certain traits, I merely observe them."
"I don’t know, actually. I never thought of it, since almost everything in my world has mana. Though I suppose it may be possible if you ingest a mana potion. But I really wouldn’t recommend it, since I have no idea of the effect mana would have on someone who isn’t used to such a thing. It’s a risk, much like your powers are." Senida was curious as to how it would affect others, but at the same time she didn’t want to use anyone as a lab rat. That wouldn’t be right for her to do, especially if it had any nasty side-effects.
"And just how is it restricted? Please, do tell.", she asked, the wizard slightly confused by the question. If anything, emotions gave substance to thought, didn’t they? Without emotions, wouldn’t someone question why they thought the way they thought? Then again, Senida had never seen anyone without emotions, so it was a complete mystery to her. Still, not everyone was selfish, she knew that for a fact. There were many that she had met that were quite the opposite. Not to mention the fact that she wasn’t completely human to begin with.
"Not everyone is selfish. I have seen people care more about others than themselves. Though I feel I must correct you. I’m a wizard, so I’m not exactly human by the standards of my world. That makes no difference, however, as I sympathize quite a bit with them. There are many good humans out there, much more than you would think." Kyubey words implied confidence, arrogance that he was higher than everyone else. Of course, she knew that everyone existed for a reason. What that reason was, however, she wasn’t quite sure of. "Humans can survive through a lot, as can wizards. While I disagree with you, I do respect your opinion. We just happen to have different experiences with things, you and I."

"Isn't it common sense that you can only change something by actually doing something?" To Kyubey it was a simple fact that something could only be achieved by not simply waiting for it, but a lot humans sometimes seemed to forget that. "However, some people can try as hard as they want and they won't get what they want. You may call it fate or even a God, but it is a simple concept. The universe can only work due to certain concepts, it might break if they were to be destroyed."
"I do not understand why it is that you desire to talk about that though. It is true that some have a bigger role than others. Some beings exist to lead, others exist to obey and are only tools in order to achieve something important. It's simple." If only Kyubey was able to feel genuine surprise, that would be the case now, but instead he merely viewed this conversation as unusual. It was rare that one would discuss with the incubator in such a matter and Kyubey wasn't quite used to it. "I do understand your point. And it is fortunate that you are able to think logical enough to know that there is no need for the weak. There is only a certain potential someone has and once the limit is reached, their role is done." There might be some exceptions that could become even more than what they were meant to, but types like that were rare and no one had an unlimited amount of power, so even those people would reach a certain limit after some time.
"It is true my powers are limited. It seems to be the smartest to find out how to regain them first. Not much can be done with the way I am now and I do not know about your powers, but to you it should be easier with them too, is that right?" It was obvious he wasn't just a powerless human and that he had certain qualities that made him interesting and not as useless as others, but Kyubey had yet to find out what the deal with him even was. His way of thinking wasn't the silliest Kyubey had come across in all the years of his existence, but who was that person really? Not that it mattered all too much to Kyubey in the end; as long as he wouldn't do something that went against the incubator's mission, it was alright. "Is there anything else you can do aside from having mastered the art of speaking though? You certainly aren't stupid, but I don't know yet how much power you truly have. What is it you can do that makes you someone that can be considered strong and important?"

vibrantflame:
Kyubey was a smart little thing, that was certain. No one had asked Senida about the capacity of their magic, and the alien had been the first to do so.
"It depends. In my world, where mana is everywhere in the air, especially in the areas where it’s abundant, we can use a lot of magic. Since magic requires mana to use, we simply focus the mana and cast our spells. In Hive City, however, we have to use our own mana, since there isn’t any here. Remember, everyone in my world is made of mana. It’s the source of both life and magic. The higher connection you have with mana, the better you can use mana, outside the body or otherwise. Of course, I do have to replenish my mana here with potions I find in the stores. Otherwise…" She would lose time from her lifespan and vanish, simply put. That’s why Senida was lucky that her lower-leveled spells didn’t use so much mana. She did cut it close, though, with the fight she had with Lucina for her challenge. She had to be more careful, unable to go willy-nilly with her magic.
Senida didn’t see herself as restricted by her emotions. The only time she felt like that was when she kept her worries hidden from others. Once she reached her breaking point, all of it would burst out at once. It already happened a few times in the city, and the wizard hoped it wouldn’t do so often. She didn’t like burdening others all the time, though, so that was unlikely if the scientists had anything to say about it.
"That wasn’t what I meant.", she said with a sigh. Of course people could live without emotions. But what would they live for? Would they feel alive? "You would only be alive. But what would you live for? Would you feel alive without emotions? Of course not. Because you can’t feel without emotions. They’re both a burden and a strength, but I feel that it’s worth the burden to have them."
The concept of mana was quite interesting. To imagine that such a thing with such magical potential was so common in the world that girl was from, Kyubey could only imagine how useful it would be to prevent entropy. Maybe even more useful than the energy he was using now? Having access to her world would be difficult though. Especially while being trapped here, so just thinking about it for now was useless and not needed.
"Is there the possibility of someone of another world without magic to gain mana? You mentioned potions, so is there one for that?" It was at least worthy to ask for that. It would be quite useful to strengthen a human's magical energy with that and if he could get a grab on this for his universe, it would turn out to be quite useful.

"I believe your way of thinking is restricted by what you call emotions." But that much was to be expected. Kyubey had yet to come across another kind of beings that weren't caught in a cage of their emotions. It was a concept that would be forever foreign to him and he had no desire to change that. Not that the incubator had truly a desire for anything since that would be considered feeling something too, but he he really didn't see why it was of such importance. "You think that because having emotions makes you selfish. A human being, no matter who they are, is selfish by default and thus what they care about the most is their own happiness and suffering. I am alive in order to fulfill my mission, but I do not need emotions for it!" At least not his own emotions, what mattered was the despair of others. "I am a being that exists simply for a bigger reason than a human. Your kind simply lives for their own personal needs, but they rarely consider their role in the universe. It is quite a small one, but humans do exist for a reason, too. The ability to have emotions makes you quite unique though! I am surprised that your race has lasted so long with it!"

"I am aware of the Holy Grail's existence. However, isn't that nothing but a legend?" Of course Kyubey knew what it was. He was a bit longer on earth than any human being after all and had been there through all periods of time, granting wishes even to those girls who were only talked about in history books in the present time.
It was good though that she already seemed to be experienced with fighting. It would save time that would be wasted on watching her fail and having others to come to help her. The faster the witches were destroyed, the faster she would turn into one as well. "My name is Kyubey!" She was a heroic spirit? But wasn't that impossible? "Would you mind explaining to me what you meant by referring to yourself as heroic spirit? I do wonder too how you can be the Queen of Britain and Camelot. A human being has no chance of being revived once they are dead."
Clockwork Reverse // AU
"Ah, I see…" She expected that much, at least. These witches were littered around the world, most likely. If fighting them meant that it would ensure Camelot’s safety then there were no regrets in this. Besides, life as a heroic spirit was no different. “…I understand.”
"My first battle? I believe I will okay. You see, I am…was a heroic spirit. A spirit that does battle against other spirits in order to obtain the Holy Grail, a wish-granting device. But, it does not grant wishes, only darkness and the world’s destruction. Combat is not something that is necessarily new to me.” She paused for a moment. "Since I expect us to be seeing each other often, you have the right to know my real name. I am Guinevere Pendragon, Queen of Britain and Camelot. And you are?"

If he saw Kyubey as demon, then he sure as hell wasn't scared of them. How odd. Didn't humans normally treat anything that was different from them as some sort of threat? Or perhaps demons weren't scary in his opinion? Hm.
"Is magic something that can be explained? It is not me who decides what kind of magic is being used anyway! I merely grant someone's wish and depending on it they gain some kind of magic that is their own. As for my life span.." He probably assumed that he would die sooner or later as every other being, but that wasn't really how it worked for Kyubey. "I do not die. If one of my bodies is destroyed, it is replaced by another one, so I cannot say if my existence is an eternal one." Most likely it was.
Wiggling his tail a bit, the little white being tilted his head, as if trying to look cute. "Curious? So I am a special being in your opinion, aren't I? That is quite flattering to hear!"
Not a demon but still from earth…Demons weren’t even part of earth they came from Gehenna anyway. The mirrored world to Asiah. If back in his own ‘world’ there was an alternate reality, then, many worlds existing and some of them lacking the presence of ‘demons’ was a totally accurate thing to happen.
"Interesting, magic you say? How do you function, what is your life span."
An alien…It was intriguing he had to admit that much, he’d like to study the creature for furthermore research, perhaps he should.
"Anyway, my name is Yukio, you sparked curiosity in me now, Kyubey."

Telling her that it was every magical girl's fate to turn into a witch would only make her doubt if making a contract was the right thing. Kyubey had no idea why that was such a problem to them. Every human died sooner or later anyway.
"Witches are beings born from despair. All they wish for is to destroy. Some are stronger than others, but their goal is always the very same one. They destroy everything near them, so of course magical girls have to fight them so the world can be saved."
Magical Girl AU
That was it? The offer kept getting more tempting with each explanation that this creature was giving her, but there were still answer to questions she wanted to know. “That’s it? That sounds…pretty easy, actually. So, these witches, where do they come from? What do they want?”

Kyubey tilted his head slightly. When he requested it? He had never said that he was the one asking for her powers when he needed them. A magical girl always had to do her job, there was nothing like a break for them.
"But you always need to use your powers for fighting witches! It is not me who asks for you to be available at certain times! You always have to fight them and search for them! It is your responsibility as magical girl to give that more importance than anything else or do you wish for entire cities to be destroyed? I can assist you during your first fight if you wish, since there isn't another magical girl here currently who explains some things to you."
Clockwork Reverse // AU
The transferring of the Queen’s soul into a soul gem was relatively bearable when it came to the pain. The small gem appeared lightly in her palm, to which she inspected it with an intrigued gaze.
Such a delicate thing, but if it would assist her in changing the past, then she would protect this object at all costs and rely on its power to grant her one and only wish.
"…I believe there are no questions. You have my sword and magic at your hand. Only request it when you need it and it shall be yours. Other than that, I will fight anything that you wish for me. Thank you for granting an ability to change my mistakes."

Another person before this one had already accused Kyubey of being a demon and it made him think that demons appeared to be quite common in other worlds. So many worlds having demons and supposedly only one with incubators.
"My kind doesn't refer to themselves as demons and I do not believe I would quite fit the description of it."
"I am not from Earth though! So I think what you humans call me would be an alien! I'm Kyubey and I'm a messenger of magic, but I don't think that makes me a demon!"
The way the creature looked at Yukio gave him chills. He had seen many demons in his life. Even Satan himself, this one possibly was a medium class of them. Though he could not be sure of it, after being told there were alternate universes, the possibility that maybe in another place demons did not exist was pretty high.
"Since you’re unable to feel disappointment or any other emotion, I guess is not for me to apologize over my lack of amusement. I just have seen some things, more like gotten used to see bizarre creatures… This will be blunt of me but… are you per chance a demon?"

Kyubey was lucky that humans in his universe couldn't teach themselves to use magic or else he wouldn't be able to give them anything in return when they made a contract. That everyone was born with some potential or lack of it, that seemed to be the case back in his world too, but that one could simply learn how to use it just like that was new. Kyubey didn't ask more about it though, just took the information as he was told. It wasn't an universe he could reach as of now anyway, so thinking about it would be useless. Kyubey would keep it in mind though, perhaps transporting himself there would be possible one day. But stop, there was something she hadn't mentioned yet.
"Do they never run out of magic to use?" A magical girl's life was limited after all and they couldn't continue fighting forever.
And ah, there came the talk of a human not being able to understand why emotions were in fact a disorder. Did they not see themselves how ristricted all of them were thanks to them? It had never occured to Kyubey why he would need such a thing.
"It goes against every logic that you are saying that. I am quite alive and have no emotions. You do not need them in order to live. Aren't they rather difficult to deal with? Humans spend a big amount of time on things that aren't necessary, simply because they have feelings. It's a waste of time."
The alien had yet to meet someone who had never felt anything negative and everyone always seemed to be so angry about it and got all worked up over it and this caused their minds to stop working at times. And that caused them to make mistakes and their lifes ending up being complete failures, never amounting to anything.
Ah well, looked like no contract would happen any time soon. But it's not like Kyubey needed her to agree desperately, there were enough other people who would die for their wish.
"Really?" She would say she was surprised, but there had been a couple of others who she met that were in the same boat. "We have stories about them in my world, too, but they’re more than just legends for some of us. I’m not very aware how they all gained their powers, however. Most of them are born with their magic potential, while others are taught them as they’re raised. I myself learned how to use simpler spells at home, going to school to learn different studies of magic. We’re all born with mana, though, so manipulating it for our spells becomes practically second nature by the time we mature. For wizards, at least. We don’t have to use staves and such to focus it."
It had been a while since Senida had given such a long talk about magic, much less about mana. Mana was important to everyone in Tristel, whether a person could use magic or not. Mana flowed throughout the world, and in turn everyone was, essentially, made from mana. It was something she had to get used to in Hive City, where there was no mana for the wizard to gain back unless she ingested potions. Luckily, she had a job, so getting them in small quantities when they were absolutely needed wasn’t too difficult. Even better that she didn’t use her stronger spells all that often.
"A disorder?", she asked in response to his words. Emotions weren’t a disorder, not in her opinion. While some may think they get in the way, Senida believed they could be used as a strength. The will to protect others out of kindness and love was something she admired greatly, something she had read in many stories. She believed it to be possible for the outside world, too. "If they get rid of emotions, they may as well be dead, right? Emotions are part of being alive, that’s what I think."
Senida had mixed feelings about his offer. If she were to die, there would be some who would be sad. She didn’t want to make others sad, or hurt them for that matter. Not only that, but she had many things she had left to do. Chances are, a life-or-death situation would be the only time she would consider such an offer without the proper knowledge. "I do take risks when exploring, but something like this isn’t to be taken so lightly. I will keep that in mind, though, when the time comes." That was her answer, plain and simple. Hopefully that would satisfy him, as those were her thoughts.

dragonstreams:
❝Not much is strange about you but beasts like you back home are called Demons. That must be what you are, hm?❞ Of course, the monster would most likely say something different, they were all taken from so many worlds and clashed together. His reasoning may seem wrong and the other would have believed for it’s to topple over his. It would be degrading and yet, he could retort from whatever Kyubey may say. There was no right or wrong but to tell that he was a demon was the easiest thing. It was dangerous to hold one like this unless contracted with but that didn’t matter. ❝Tell me what do you think they are? If this world could be changed, how would you like to see it? Would you like to see that the people who are weak, banished before your eyes? The people who worked to get where they are, would you like to see them to prosper?❞
As he stared down at the animal, he wondered what he should ask. He wasn’t one to beat around the bush and would answer questions as they came. As if contemplating, he gave something of a smile as he would make sure to remember these words. Though it could have all been just a lie but he would look into his trust later. ❝It depends on whether you cooperate with me or not, which will choose our fate. What are you willing to go with, many that oppose me aren’t worth my time but you are interesting enough.❞That and having Fumi run a few experiments on him, it seemed like something rather ideal to her. She always wanted to test things endurance and capability, even how the mind worked.
He could have at least let them see eye to eye, which brought him to stare into it’s never changing face, staying the same as always as he sat the entity down on something nearby. What more could he do with this demon would stay unspoken of until he thought of them, right now the most that mattered was it’s being and what use it could have been.
"A demon?" Kyubey repeated and tilted his head a little. Beings that were considered not real in the human world he was from seemed to be normal to quite a lot people from different universes. "My kind calls itself incubators, not demons. I have never heard of anyone calling us by that term." The fact that he thought of him as such could only mean that either demons had a similiar appearance to Kyubey or they came in so many forms that this male saw every new being he encountered as demon. His questions also were quite unusual. No one had ever asked of Kyubey's opinion concerning those topics. Quite often, when he was asked something, they seemed to think his intents were evil and didn't bother listening correctly.
"I do not care what happens to this world as long as enough still make a contract with me and are willing to be used for the sake of preventing entropy."
"It is none of my concern how people are being treated. A single person's fate means little to the universe and I have never spent much thought on humans that cannot contribute anything to my mission and there is no need to waste any time on them."
Cooperating with someone that was not of his race, that definitely was new and as long as his goal wasn't in danger, Kyubey would perhaps agree to pretty much everything. "Is changing the world and getting rid of those you consider weak what you want? If that is the case, I have no reason to fight you. I have no need for those either. The only humans I need are the ones that have potential, everyone else is not relevant." If only the strong ones were left, would they evolve into something even stronger? Not having to concern themselves with the weaker ones anymore might have some positive effects on humanity. Kyubey wasn't quite sure how genetics worked, but if only strong humans were combined, they might have even more potential in the end.

"That is a very powerful wish, but I do see your potential. If that is your wish, then it shall be granted." Certainly her magical powers would be strong due to the power of her wish. It only took a moment for Kyubey to transfer her soul into a soul gem and thus making this contract happen. "Your wish has improved entropy. Are there any questions you have left or will you teleport back immediately?"

"Then…I wish to have the ability to be teleported back, as many times as I please, until I am able to properly fix the fall of the kingdom. Can you grant me that? You have my sword if you would grant me thus."

"It is true. I do not understand how one can ignore logic as much as humans do and why they prefer decisions driven by emotion since the success rate is lower due to that. A lot of failures could be prevented if only a human's mind would work differently! The desire to not be alone and feeling incomplete without others, it is something my kind is not familiar with nor views it as a problem. We exist for a higher goal than the concern of a single individual.
Perhaps just one of them should wish for all humans to turn into one being. That way the desire to be with others would be satisfied, would it not? I might be able to grant even that wish. It is none of my concern though what one's wish is, as long as enough make a contract with me so my goal can be fulfilled. You humans are very different from me and nothing but tools for me to use, you could say that."
"If you don’t have emotions it’s impossible to understand the capability of irrational thought for the betterment of others. In a lot of ways intuition and other such emotional responses can be stronger than pure logic in the world we live in. Simply using mental processes is not enough to be successful unless you enjoy being alone. And as humans, we are generally incapable of such a lifestyle because it’s our biological imperative not to be. Showing emotions makes you accessible to others, and that allows you to form bonds humans desire and in most cases need."
"It’s not simply about survival, or keeping the species alive. That is the end goal, of course. But the journey is about not simply living- but thriving. It’s all very complicated and I’m sure you don’t give a shit seeing as happiness probably doesn’t concern you either except to use for your own benefit."

Smart girl.
"That is true. Giving something without getting something else in return would be a rather useless deal."
"It's very simple! You just have to become a magical girl and fight witches! That is all that you have to do in order to get your wish granted."
"What’s the catch, though? I’m sure you just don’t go granting wishes without having something else happen. Humankind can never obtain anything without giving something in return. It’s sort of a law of nature."

From the information Kyubey had gathered from studying humans, they normally had the desperate need to understand everything around them and that they wouldn't give in to that urge when they were offered explanation.. it was unusual.
"I do not possess any emotions such as disappointment. Are you used to seeing beings you are unfamiliar with or did you suspect ever since arriving here that such encounters would happen? You handle this in a very calm way."
Demon. He just sorted this, and even if this creature wasn’t from Gehenna’s world it was definitely a threat.
"I see." An advanced thinking as well, trying to keep Yukio’s attention for whichever cause it had. "I have no questions, I suppose I am a disappointment to you, I’m just getting used to the surroundings that is all."
