Animorphs Andalite

My lovely partner has been a big Animorphs fan since forever (I being scared off by episode 1 of the show, the nice alien getting eaten was too much for young me) so I printed n painted an Andalite for tabletop purposes

Should I, a 29 year old man, finally read Animorphs? Even if I should, will I? Time will tell

So this was a cool one. @joysweeper commissioned me to do a "missing page" from the Animorphs graphic novel of The Capture, where Jake meets Crayak. I tried to emulate Grine's style as best I could, then got to design Crayak! I LOVE being an Animorphs artist that people reach out to for commissions! Best thing ever!

The Mystery Hawk

"Hey there!" Cassie crouched down next to the hawk, who made no move to take wing. Whether this was because he – definitely a he, too small for a female Coopers – didn't notice or didn't care, she didn't know, so intensely focused he was in grabbing up beakfuls of the roadkill pigeon to eat as fast as possible. She looked up at the Human guards watching nearby, concern written on her face. "Is this normal? Does he live here?" "Yes ma'am," The guard who answered didn't even sway from following protocol even when answering a question about a hawk. "He's quite the fixture 'round here. Think he lives in a tree just by the force field, see him by the road quite some eating roadkill."

A scene from a friend's WIP post-series fanfiction, Cassie seeing an unusually friendly Coopers Hawk dining on roadkill in the rain, just outside Visser One's prison. She has to make sure that he's alright!

A post-series Cassie drawing, I need to get back to drawing more again. I've not drawn any of the Animorphs as their human selves before, I should try more of them.

Yeerk tea-pet, go!!

I made him with epoxy sculpt/varnish so he'd be waterproof. I stress-tested him for about a month with oolong (very hot) and he is holding up well!

I've got the mockups for the Andalite and Taxxon ones sketched out, I just haven't made em yet :'3

may i offer you a crumb of nostalgia? or a refreshing sip of vinegar?

some friends & i ended up talking about animorphs a while ago. at some point in the conversation i was explaining andalites to my partner who never read the books, stopped & went ".........you know what i'm gonna do?" to which people responded with "make an andalite bjd?" and yes. they were absolutely correct.

this also finally motivated me to sculpt a centaur body with more joints. i'm very happy with the range on motion in this, especially how nicely it lies down. need to work a little bit on stability, but the poseability is where i want it.
