I seen a few posts about boyreg and girlreg… I would like to remind all of you that boyreg doesn’t mean “just boys regressing” and girlreg isn’t “just girls regressing”, the boyre/boyreg tag was made for regressors with experiences and gender expressions more aligned with masculine experiences (such as cis men, transgender men, transmascs, gnc individuals, butch lesbians, tomboys, transfems that had those childhood experiences etc) and wanted a space for said expression.

Girlre/girlreg was made as a way to pushback against the “regressors who like pastels, princess and pink (stuff we usually associate with fem-aligned upbringings) are fake regressors!” (Which is very sexist of itself) And create a space safe for those who gender expression aligned more with those feminine experiences (such as cis women, transgender women, transfems, gnc individuals, femme gays, transmascs who had that childhood experience etc).

It was never about “girls have to be this way” or “boys have to be that way”, it was about creating safe spaces for those who need them.

Boys can be girlreg. Girls can be boyreg.

I’m nonbinary and usually associate my regression with girlre, would that make me a woman? No. That just means that my childhood was more aligned with that experience. Now other nonbinary folks might associate themselves with boyre or with a more neutral regression, would that make them “more” or “less” nonbinary? Also no.

I do think we need to start remembering that everyone’s regression is unique and only the individual can truly say how they feel towards their regression and how gender roles play a part in it (because I cannot deny that these social expectations play a role in our lives as a whole). This is not a post to say girls can’t be girly or boys can’t be boyish, it’s a post saying people can express themselves however they want as long as it doesn’t harm themselves and others around them.

One general tag won’t ever be able to express fully how you as an individual sees yourself. And I do agree bio kids should be able to express themselves in anyway they want, however many of us didn’t get this right as bio children and now it’s the time to heal that inner child.
