“He’d be more than okay! He lets me give everyone tours! I’ve got a badge on my desk and everything.” Maria replied with a wide smile, her gaze flicking to his hand for a brief moment.
“Uh.. your ruler?” She questioned, a crease appearing between her brows. “I didn’t see you come in here with a ruler.. maybe it fell when you came through? Do you wanna look for it, Mr..?”
/ Here's the ask I wanted to drop
*Due to their being multiple Marias, there has been glitches in the fabric of reality and these constant shifts brought havoc to the multiverse. Perhaps professor Gerald would know about this, but he wasn't here to explain why this was happening. One day, unbeknownst to Maria, a portal suddenly appeared. The points and seems tore at the sky and someone emerged from the shadows. The person in question appeared almost like a 2D image, but he was also 3D at the same time. It was a strange optical illusion; Maria wouldn't know what to think of it. The person in question wore a green turtleneck sweater and his emotionless gaze made him seem both goofy and ominous.*
*He looked over at Maria with that same blank expression.* "Where am I and who are you?"
”Ah..?”
Maria lifted her head from where it lay on the table and stared at the person with an expression akin to a deer caught in the headlights, her pen stopping in its tracks.
She had never met anyone new before— not since coming here onto the Ark. Especially not someone as strange as this. She knew all the scientists by name. But more often than not, none of them ever came into her room.
This person didn’t seem like they belonged here though. How curious.
“…This is the classroom,” she said slowly, putting a slightly awkward smile on her face and shifting her paper to hide the doodle she was making on the white table she sat at. “And, uh.. I’m Maria!”
She tried her best to not to stare. It was rude to stare at people who looked different, but the optical illusion of the person before her was eye-catching, even if it did make her head hurt a little bit if she focused too hard on it.
“I like your shoes.” She said, using the tip of her pen to gesture towards the person’s shoes. A compliment to try and lessen the unease at the situation.

“My grandfather does more than just work here!”
Maria stood up for dramatic effect, raising her hands to gesture around the room. “He designed the Ark all by himself! This whole place was made by him, for him and the other scientists! They do a lot of work here. Experiments. They made Shadow! Oh—“
She clapped her hands once. “I should give you a TOUR!!”

“Ah- oh no! I like your sweater!” Maria replied quickly, trying to think of how she could ask him more details about his clothes. And the material they were made out of. The fabric looked simple— a soft green sweater and plain pants, but they couldn’t just be made out of regular old fabric. It wasn’t possible for any normal fabric to look like.. like this.
“It’s just, well, the way the reflect light is much different than clothes made of any fabric I’ve seen before… they make you look, uh… kinda like a 2D figure. I think it’s really cool!”
“My grandfather told me about how and why things look 2D and 3D,” she continued, waving a hand. “He taught me all about how light reflects and optical illusions caused by it. And how sometimes 3D things look 2D based on how the light hits it. Like how in Hawaii, on a sunny day, shadows can be directly beneath people and make things look like a poorly rendered video game. Your clothes,” she pointed to his sweater. “Have that very same effect!”

❓do you blame Shadow for what happened to you
Do I… blame him? Why would I ever blame him?
What happened to me was my decision. I could never blame him, I’m the one who put shadow into that whole situation in the first place! In any scenario, I would rather it be me to die.
Even if the sound of a gunshot still scares me, I’d rather be shot a hundred times over than ever live in a world without my best friend.

“No…”
Maria shook her head. “I’m not alone— or, well.. I am right now. Everyone’s busy. How’d you get here anyways?”
She sat up a little bit straighter, crossing her arms on the desk and glancing over him. The strange way his body reflected light was eye-catching. Maybe they were special clothes made to reflect light that way. Grandfather talked about that before— once, at dinner. When she asked why the sky was blue down on earth but black up here. He went on and on about how light reflects and why and Maria listened to every word.
“And… what kind of clothes are you wearing?” She questioned.

🤍— NOTICE
Please, pretty please, do not flirt with Maria. She is 12. You can compliment her, you can tell her she’s pretty or you like her dress or whatever.. but please don’t flirt with her. Any flirting or direct romantic conversation towards her, ESPECIALLY if your muse is over the age of 14, will result in a hard block.
