She smiled softly, thinking about her own sister. Her late sister. "That's nice of you. It's good that someone so young is taking the responsibility of a whole family." She clicked her tongue while thinking. "Not the whole family, I mean. But you know, majority." She offered the guy another smile before raising an eyebrow. "That's gotta be tough then, huh? You're going to be way out of high school when she gets to high school and starts going out on dates. I'm sure you'll still do the whole big brother thing, right? Where you threaten her boyfriends and stuff?" Her thoughts drifted to her sister once again. "My sister used to do that. Well, she did it once. But-- still. The guy nearly ran screaming." She shook her head in amusement at the memory.
She couldn't help but laugh at his description of teachers. Throwing her head back and having a whole-hearted laugh. "I mean, I can change. And probably go buy a wig, if that's the kind of teacher you prefer." She wiggled her eyebrows teasingly before she caught herself. Was she flirting with a student? She eyed him again, he looked legal. So it wasn't wrong to flirt, right? Lily clicked her heels together, pondering if she should continue flirting with him or not. "It's alright, I'm sure girls are all over the whole tall thing, right? You're.. what? Seventeen? Eighteen?"

Tyler smiled at the comment about his sister. “Yes, I do have a sister.” He though her curiosity was a bit overwhelming, but he didn’t mind. “About her? Well, her name’s Serena and she can be extremely annoying, but we get along well enough. My dad’s been really busy lately with all the things going on lately. You know, the crime rates, especially the shooting, so it’s kind of up to me to look after her and my mom.” He paused to look at his feet. “She’s not in high school yet. Couple years to go, actually. She’s in sixth grade. So she’s only eleven.”
Tyler looked back up at the teacher as she made her next comment. “You do seem a little young to be a teacher. Not that that’s a bad thing, I actually think it’s pretty cool to see younger adults take up jobs like that. Some of the other elementary school teachers I’ve met are those stereotypical…you know, silver-gray bun and ruler waiting for its opportunity to discipline.” He hadn’t noticed he was towering over Lily until she mentioned it. “How…tall I am?” he glanced down at her wedged heels and smiled slightly. “Guess I never really noticed either.”

She nodded, silently agreeing with the boy next to her. She liked the way he thought, not many people his age would've spoken like he did and she admired that. She offered him yet another smile before turning her gaze back to the group of children that dominated the playground. "Ignorance really is bliss." Lily looked at all the smiling faces that surrounded her and the laughter that filled the air. They had no idea that someone was just shot a few days ago. They were oblivious and innocent. But that's what made them lucky. "Sometimes I wish they'd stay like this. Pure, innocent. Oblivious."
She raised an eyebrow at his comment. "You have a sister?" Of course, Lily didn't want to pry, but she was quite curious now, especially since he was so quick to change the subject. "Well, go on. Tell me about her. What's she like? Is she in high school too?" She wondered if she came across as nosy, but she was just really looking for some company and to make conversation with the guy. However, with Tyler's confession, she couldn't help but laugh. "Thank you, Tyler. I find your company pleasurable as well. But I think it's because we're closer in age than me and the other teachers." She let out a smaller chuckle before turning to finally observe the guy she was talking to. Despite her wearing wedges, he was still an inch or two taller than her, causing her to furrow her eyebrows. "I never realized how tall you were."

Tyler started nodding almost before she had finished sentence. “Yeah, things here seem to be a bit messed up sometimes.” He paused. “You just have to stop and smell the roses when things get too crazy.” Whenever Tyler was stressed out, he sought out his sister. She helped to remind him that no matter how much was going on in this crazy little district, there were still good things, like tossing a Frisbee around in the front yard, or playing football at the park together.
"My sister helps me remember that," he said, realizing he had said it aloud two seconds too late. Changing the subject before she could respond, he said, "I’m sorry the other teachers don’t like you. If it counts for anything, I’ve only been here a couple minutes and I find your presence relatively pleasurable." He tried to make the word ‘relatively’ sound as sarcastic as possible so Lily would know he already liked being around her. He smiled at her.

She waited for a minute, wondering if Tyler was going to leave now. He didn't seem like a threat to the children, so she wouldn't have minded if he stayed for a bit. She offered him yet another one of her warm smiles, realizing he was going to keep her company for a little bit. "I'm not particularly new, a few weeks-- give or take." She nodded, smoothing out her dress again. "We usually have recess when the high schoolers get out, but I tend to wait up there, most of the time." She pointed towards a slight hill that towered the playground, which had lots of shady spots. "But well, Johnny and Peter.." She trailed off, knowing she didn't need to explain the rest.
She bounced her weight, shifting from one side to the other, her wedges making her slightly taller than she usually is. "Thank you," She mumbled,"For keeping me company. It gets quite lonely. Especially since in such a small town there's only a handful of kindergarten teachers. But I don't think they like me very much." She shrugged, she cared that they didn't like her, but there was nothing she could do about it. "It's good to seem them like this: happy. After all that's happened, it's nice to be assured that there's still good in the world, y'know?"
Playground Mishaps || Tyler and Lillian
Ty fingered his phone in his pocket, still debating whether he should contact someone for a ride. “Nice to meet you too, Lily,” he said with a kind smile. He glanced out at the kindergartners on the playground before him. What it must be like to be so oblivious to the events that were currently taking place in town, he had no idea. These kids had as sweet of ignorance as you could get, and they didn’t have even the slightest idea.
Deciding against calling someone and staying to chat for a few minutes, he dropped his phone back into the depths of his pocket and concentrated on the here and now. “Nah, I normally get a ride home. Sometimes we drive by here, though. I’m not sure I’ve seen you here that often. Are you a new teacher?” he asked. As soon as the words left his mouth, he hoped to God they wouldn’t sound rude to the woman. It was probably his ignorance, and this woman had probably worked here for three years, and Tyler drove by and paid no attention to her. He crossed his fingers as he cringed inwardly and awaited her answer.

"W-What?"

"Found a dead body. . Great. Takes me back a year or two. Whoever killed him sucks at disposing the body."

You don’t have to be miseralbe to write, you do it because you have to. Because it gnaws aways your insides if you try to ignore it. Because if you don’t write then you might as well be dead.

He's a nice kid too. I feel awful that this happened to him. I don't know. Maybe they just missed their target? Everyone said that they were trying to scare us. But who?
That’s good then. Wouldn’t want any unwanted deaths in this town, arousing suspicion on anyone and everyone. Two shots… maybe they were aiming for two specific people?

I haven't seen him, but I heard he's alright. I think he was just shot in the shoulder, so it shouldn't be that bad. I don't know.. There were two shots, though. The first one missed and the second one.. Well..
Brayden… name doesn’t ring a bell. Is he alright? Alive? Why would anyone shoot a boy out of nowhere?

Uhm, yes. Actually. A boy named Brayden was shot in the shoulder. They haven't found the shooter yet, though.
Really? Wow, and here I thought this place was boring. Did anyone get hurt?

She sighed gratefully before stepping back and letting this boy handle them. She didn't do well with violence, that much was true. Lily watched in awe as the boy before her brought out a couple of bucks. She couldn't help but giggle at the fact he was willing to give them money for them to stop fighting. She smiled softly at the two boys who accepted the money greedily. "What do we say, Johnny? Peter?" Her motherly-voice arising again. There was a course of "thank yous" before the two boys ran off in the direction of their other friends. She let out another sigh of relief before turning to the young man before her.
"They're not usually like this, I don't know why out of all days they're like this." She mumbled, resting her hands on her hips. "I'm very sorry to have dragged you into this, I don't usually.. ask for help. I just don't do particularly well with violence." She offered him a small, shy smile before reaching out her own hand and shaking his gently. Her smile grew as she heard his name. "Nice to meet you, Tyler. I'm Lily." She retracted her hand slowly before turning her gaze back to the children playing. She looked down at her watch, knowing she had a bit more time left before they were supposed to go back inside. "Do you usually walk passed the playground? I don't think you're a regular," She chuckled, smoothing out her dress.

Tyler heard the woman plead and looked behind him. Me? he mouthed, pointing to him. Of course you, you idiot, Ty thought. He jogged over to the woman he took to be the teacher of the young kids and evaluated the situation. The woman was trying desperately to pry two boys off of each other. One was trying to get the other into a headlock, but the other was putting up quite the squirming fight.
Tyler pushed through the group of kindergarten children and set a shoulder on the redheaded woman’s shoulder, dismissing her. “Hey, boys. Hey.” They looked up a bit, but continued fighting, yet the slightest bit less roughly. “I have…” Tyler dug in his pocket and pulled out a wad of fading green paper. “Four dollars here.” He tried to keep his voice down so the other children couldn’t hear. “That’s one for each of you and a lady of your choosing.” He handed each of the boys two dollars. “That’s sure to get you a girlfriend. And,” he added in an even softer voice, “If I were you, I’d go for those two babes over there.” He pointed out two young girls on the swing set who hadn’t been interested enough to see what had caused the commotion.
As the boys ran off, back to their friends, he turned to the teacher. “Quite the little handfuls you have here,” he said. “I don’t think I’ve seen you around. I’m Tyler.” He stuck out his hand for her to shake.

Lily was incredibly stressed with the news of the shooting and school all together. She didn't think they would keep school going, she figured they might still be on lockdown until they had found the shooter but she was unpredictably wrong. "Johnny! It's not nice to hit people!" At the moment, it was recess time for the kindergarteners. They usually played around the same time the high schoolers got out, so she would see the occasional high schooler walking by the playground. Sometimes she'd see Cathryn, who would stop by for a quick chat, but today she didn't see anyone familiar.
Tension and worry coursed through her as Johnny and another boy named Peter began to get into a small brawl. "Oh, god. Fighting is not the answer!" She yelled, rushing over to them. Of course Peter and Johnny never really got along, but she didn't think they would ever really get into a fight. She began to see a small circle forming around the two, no doubt, kids wanting to see the action before them. Lily stepped between them, trying to pull them a part. "Hey! No, hitting is not allowed!" She yelled over the squealing and the screaming of the children around her. She heard a pair of footsteps that caused her head to shoot up in anticipation. "Hey! You! Please come help!" She pleaded, her arms being scratched at as the two continued to try to get around the teacher.
Playground Mishaps || Tyler and Lillian
Of course Tyler was worried. According to nearly everyone in the Kaufman district, there was a shooter on the loose somewhere, and he was walking home alone. Sure, he didn’t actually witness the shooting for himself, but he had asked around and it seemed pretty legit. They had made announcements in school about Brayden, and that’s when he knew for sure. He was aware that being out in public all by himself wasn’t the smartest, but all his usual rides home weren’t available. Patrick and Jacob were both busy, probably off doing something together with their college friends, and Dana had to leave school early for an appointment. Not to mention he had no idea which school bus to take. He fingered the screen of his phone, wondering whether he should call his mom to come pick him up. God, he really needed his own car. It would eliminate a lot of inconveniences in his life.
He wasn’t sure how long he had been staring down at his own feet going step by step when he heard yelling up ahead. It wasn’t an argument or a fight or anything. It sounded like children. Tyler checked his surroundings. Sure enough, up ahead was the elementary school, and children were out on the playground, supervised by an agitated-looking redheaded woman. He thought about stopping and looking for his sister until he remembered his sister now attended the middle school instead of the elementary school, and the children on the playground seemed much younger than her. He still slowed to watch the kids a bit when the redheaded woman turned around, probably having heard him approach.

She was startled when Alex began yelling at her. She didn't know what to think, all she did was stare at the girl with big, doe-like eyes. That is, until her friend began to shift into a vampire. The appearance scared Lily to death, causing her body to tremble. But she resulted in thinking she was crazy. "Oh, I get it," She mumbled,"This must be a dream! I'm getting Punk'd, aren't I?" She laughed hysterically,"Go ahead and come on out! Where are the cameras?"
Alex’s head kept shaking as they walked out, angry that Lily didn’t believe her. When they were safe, Alex ripped her hand out of the redhead’s grasp so she’d turn around and look at her. “I didn’t want you to find out this way. Look at me. Look at my face and tell me it’s fake.” With that, Alex allowed her face to shift, her fangs dropping down and her eyes filling with blood. She prayed Lily would be okay with it — she didn’t want to have to compel her friend into non-hysteria.
