The third part of the series (I Knew It All Along) didn’t have an official title for a while so I used to refer to it as the ‘Scorbus have a baby’ fic, which is what shab stands for - I can’t remember how it became a thing but that’s the backstory!

Hi - did you by any chance write a scorbus AU fic where Albus and Scorpius meet at some kind of gym (I forget the actual sport that Albus does) and Albus gets injured at some point. I think they both end up going on a date to the movies and if im not mistaken Astoria is in the fic. Did you delete it or was it written by someone else? I’ve been trying sooo hard to find it but I cant. Just wondering if it was you that wrote it or you know who did/what it’s called. It was such a good fic!

life after - chapter twelve

Green eyes stare back at Albus as he examines himself in the clinical light of the bathroom mirror. Is it written on his face? Could someone tell just by looking at him? He bites his lip and tilts his head, leaning in closer. Is it right there, hiding in the spattering of freckles? Or, more likely, the curve of his mouth when he thinks about Scorpius?

The word has taken to visiting him more frequently now. Tugging on his sleeve, lurking in the corner of the glass. He turns around but it’s never there to face him, it just lingers nearby and haunts his reflection. Occasionally, it’s a little more violent and kicks him in the shin to trip him up, sending him stumbling for purchase. He’s getting used to it, though. This phantom. He thinks they could eventually be friends even.

Maybe.

He frowns. His nervous, freckled face frowns back at him.

If it would just give him time. If it could just accept I know what you are, but I can’t say it for an answer. He’s not stupid or in denial, he’s processing. He’s getting there, and now that he’s off school he has all the time in the world to turn it over in his mind. To mouth that first foreboding syllable.

He thinks of Patrick. Then, of Scorpius. Always of Scorpius.

I have recently started reading I Knew it All Along (after devouring the other two ofc) and then it hit me: is the BCF the wizard in world equivalent of Covid-19? Are you mirroring the trauma all of us went through? THATS SO FUCKING COOL

Funny story, I came up with and wrote most of the BCF plot in 2019 before covid even existed😬 you can see mentions of BCF in my earlier fics published as far back as 2018 - it was just a scary coincidence how similar it ended up being to our real lives, although I did change a few things based on the fact I could then guarantee everyone reading it would have lived experience of a pandemic! And it’s also true that I’m not sure I would have ever finished it if not for the 2020 lockdowns and how much more writing time I got…

I think probably yes in some way, Owlstagram in my head was like an amalgamation of the magic behind the DA’s changing galleons and the daily prophet/witch weekly and how much wizards canonically seem to be interested in each other’s business! It made sense for someone like James to want a way to connect with his fans

Oh wow that’s a bit of a compliment! I actually formulated the idea and wrote most of the BCF plot before 2019 so it was verrrry weird to start living some of it later, totally unintentional and I get why it wouldn’t be appealing to read for a lot of people as a result, but writing it in that time was a real support for me and so I’m really glad to know that you are enjoying it!

if I get enough responses I'm going to close it on thurstday 14th and start a poll with the answers (similar prompts are gonna be merged). I have my last final of this year on 20th and after that there's going to be a surprise reveal!

I hope noone will be mad if I'd like it to start on 21nd, nothing like getting creative to get into the mood :3 and imo the atmosphere before the big day is better than after. it would last until 27th, so 7 days days of joy!!!
