So now that the game has been out for awhile I think it’s time we open up the age old mystery discussion about our friend Yelv.

I will put my thoughts under the cut in case anyone has not played all his affinity missions yet.

So we first meet our friend Yelv when he asks us to do a bunch of missions before he decides if he is willing to work with us. After we show our skills does he begin to open up with us. During the second mission he also starts to tell us about his friend that is missing. Now when I played this the first time ten years ago I was pretty confident that the reveal that the friend was dead all along was going to be the ending of the story. And as I began to find more ‘pieces’ of said friend it got stronger. But then something else began pinging in my ear. Or rather someone.

Enter Eleonora. Blades main console maintainer. I always found her a little sus. Especially when she always seemed to be one step ahead of everyone the whole game. I once joked with my husband that I would have loved a scene where she just loses it on someone. Just drops her professional coolness and rips into them. You can get the vibe with some of the missions that she probably has. There is a sort of fearful respect that everyone has. Moments with Murderess comes to mind.

And during our missions with Yelv she always knew what we were doing. Like I get that she is supposed to know a lot to keep all the rings with the BLADE straight. But she had an interesting fixation to always keep us in check. There are hundreds if not thousands of blades. Why so obsessed with us. And the fact that she already had the numbers crunched and knew exactly where to send us in the last mission. That’s a lot of time on a persons hands to help one blade.

Which brings us to the scene that we all remember. When we finish Yelv mission and confirm that yes his friend is in fact dead. A friend that we never got a name of mind you. We are given a creepy epilogue scene where we find out that Yelv is not all we thought he was. And that Eleonora and the government was a part of it. Which left us all going what the actual fuck did I just witness. And after ten years that moment still freaks me out. Like I randomly will think of that moment and ask soooo many questions.

My first main question. What is Yelv actually. The scene says he had artificial memories implanted in his brain. So is he a human with amnesia like our MC or is he something else completely. And they say he is the prototype of the experiment. So if others come out will they also look like Yelv or something else.

Like us? I always wondered about the whole amnesia thing with us. Like I get on a story and game level it gives the ability of the avatar to being a blank slate and allow the player to be a part of the game more. Blah blah blah. But like on a lore level what is the deal. Are we actually someone who is apart of this weird experiment as well and we are to just go out and do our own thing.

Eleonora comments that his personality was shaped in part to a third part. Aka us. But I always wondered if she always planned on us being his partner to begin with. Maybe his initial plan of testing other blades and accepting us when we came a long was a whole ploy to connect the MC with Yelv. As a sort of trigger to his person. I think every moment was orchestrated by her and nothing Yelv did was of free will. He just thinks he had free will.

Which also gives a whole new meaning to us being puppets. If we controlled our mims through the LifeHold Core. (And yes I know there is a lot more to THAT story that I am not going to unpack here) than how is he controlling his. Or is someone else doing it. And who.

It always bothers me that this was kinda a gotcha moment in the original game. And that it never was explained or expanded upon. And yes I know Yelv is technically a dlc character but still. There was sooo much more to impact with him than anyone else. I feel his story was not properly concluded. I would love one more affinity mission where he find out the truth and has an existential crisis that we help with. Missed opportunity.

Also one last thing. In the game only three people can use the Synchrony skill. Us, Yelv, and Alexa. Which makes me look at her in a whole new light.

So what does everyone else think. Are we onto something or is this just a old persons rambling. Please let me know.

Maybe an unpopular opinion….

But I can’t stand Boze character. Like he is probably the first character in any video game series I have played where I wish to reach into the tv and punch him in the face.

Day 1 of playing. I am liking most things so far. But I admit I miss the map being something that I can just look down at and move my character around accordingly. There is probably an easy way to use it. But I am struggling when I am trying to get to the different probes with out it.

If anyone has advice please let me know.

Otherwise. It’s perfect so far. The other quality of life additions are game changers.

New stuff about Xenoblade Chronicles X Definitive Edition from previews:

You can change party members and daytime any time now

Party members gain EXP even if they're not in the party

BLADE levels and field skills for treasures are mostly gone

There are going to be four new party members

New NPCs are apparently going to be met early on?

Still now new avatar voices for the English dub

Fashion gear now works like it does in 1 Defintiive Edition, meaning you no longer need to own a piece of armor to equip it cosmetically; still no fashion gear for weapons, though

Support missions which allow you to grind for stuff like levels or affinity now unlock as you go along, rather than all at once once you beat the game

The game has three save files now

The new story content is NOT accessed from the main menu, and is instead part of the main game

Kingdom Hearts III Countdown

So in preparation for Kingdom Hearts III I have gone back and replayed all the other games and watched all the movies. So now I am stuck at the fact that I have beaten all the games and I still have a month until KH3 is released. What am I going to do now?!?!?!!

At least the cell phone game will keep me busy until then....

Ending of Kingdom Hearts III

So it's been said a few times we are not going to like the ending of this game. Or that it will be rather hard to swallow. I have been talking about this with my husband and he thinks it means Riku is going to die. I disagree because he has already completed his arc of villain to hero. It would be rather missed if it was him. I began to think that it was maybe Sora. He was slipping in Dream Drop and is already weakened by the darkness. He fell a lot easier that Riku who did it to be stronger. So I can see Sora dying because he slipped or to save everyone. Typical hero feelings.

And then I thought about it more. The trailers show Aqua norted and we know Ven is sleeping and Terra is norted. And if Roxas comes back we don't know if it's completely good or evil. I mean he was super jealous of Sora and bitter that he had to go so Sora could come back. Maybe he will be vengeful of it. Someone here once said that Ven thinks of Sora heart as a sanctuary and Roxas a prison. I agree. Roxas did not want to go. So maybe you have to fight him after he was freed.

The other thought was maybe they all will be sacrificed. I haven't played too much in the mobile game. But what happened to the original masters? And there is so much emphasis that the organization members are back. Maybe once the final battle happens to bring peace all of the new seven lights will be sacrificed to save everyone. So all of them. It would give the team an opportunity to write a new story with new characters and close on all of these stories.

Wears told so much that three will be the end of Sora story. Maybe it's an end for all of them. Or maybe just Sora. We have gone through such an emotional roller coaster with these characters that I can see this being the ending. Maybe not so happy for Disney but rather accepting for this world.

Figure Skating

Nathan Chen first olympics: How horrible. He completely bombed this. What a disgrace. He should have done better.

Bradi Tendell first olympics: Oh that poor dear. How tough it must be to be in your first olympics. That's okay sweetie.

I am rather annoyed the double standards. Nathan skated as best he could and got cruisfied for it. I understand it's difficult announcers but come on. It was clearly hard for both.

So I have just watched the newest trailer for this game and all I can say is this. Where is Demynx and Larxne and are they good or bad. I know the trailer was in Japanese and all but Marluxia was there and seemed maybe evil? Hard to tell since I know he plays a role in X. So what are your thoughts?

I am still super excited for this game thought. Could not stop grinning while I watched the video.
