Sometimes,

I get caught up in myself

and I lose the actuality of reality.

I forget the importance of the heart's true desire.

I forget that appearance

isn't all what it's made out to be.

Though, your hair is messy,

and you've dressed in a t-shirt,

your heart is still kind.

And loving,

Patient, and understanding.

I don't quite know how I've gotten so bitter,

but I know I'm the one in the wrong.

I can feel the spot in my chest that tightens up

when the bitterness inside doesn't like what it sees,

but the other part of me knows it's wrong.

I've forgotten that it is a person's heart,

a person's soul,

that can skyrocket the attraction

love isn’t pain. love is soft. love doesn’t hurt. love is warm. & love isn’t cruel or possessive. true love is healthy, kind, understanding, patient and considerate. love implies making mistakes, but it’s also about acknowledging them, being mature enough to apologise and compromising to becoming a better human being for your person while staying true to yourself. love is supportive, respectful & selfless. love won’t shout at you, call you nasty words, grab you by your wrists or pull your hair. love won’t leave bruises on your neck or you arms or your heart. love will make you feel warm, invincible, like you’re in a movie, like you’re flying. love should feel like staring at moon & the stars; like a sweet hot chocolate in a winter night; or when a puppy licks your tears away; like both your petals & your thorns are enough; love is two arms wrapped around you tight that still leave enough space for you to breathe & run as you please. love won’t suffocate you or lock you up; for love is endless & infinite.
