Witch Tip - Wild Weed Harvests

When looking around your yard or local biome for wild plants to harvest for your craft, there are several important things to keep in mind:
1 - Prepare for your trip ahead of time. Have some idea ahead of time where you're going, what the terrain and weather will be like, and what plants you want to look for and harvest. Make sure you wear appropriate clothing and footwear, and bring containers, supplies for labeling, and a travel-size resource for plant identification. (Pro-tip: Paper lunch bags are excellent receptacles for harvested plants.)
2 - Look for patches of plants well away from roadways and places which might be contaminated by chemical runoff or pesticides. When possible, select a large patch where your harvest won't wipe out the presence of the plant. (The exception to this is if you are removing invasive plants or weeding a prepared garden as part of your harvesting.)
3 - Make sure you properly identify plants before you harvest them, using a field guide for local plants or an identification app like Plantnet. This helps you avoid potentially harmful lookalikes. (And it couldn't hurt to look up what harmful plants exist in the area where you'll be looking.) Do not harvest endangered plants or plants growing on private property or in national parks. When in doubt, leave it alone.
4 - Take a modest amount of plant material for your stores, no more than you reasonably need, while disturbing the surrounding area as little as possible. Clearly label the container with the species and date of harvest. (Again, I'm recommending those paper lunch bags.) As an added courtesy, you can bring a bottle of water and hydrate the remaining plants to encourage regrowth.
5 - Clean and dry your plant material when you get home, if necessary. Just give them a quick rinse and gentle pat-dry with a clean kitchen towel before placing the plants into your preferred drying device. One simple solution is to cut the flaps off of wide, shallow cardboard shipping boxes and lay out the plant material in a flat layer so that most of it is touching the cardboard. (As opposed to leaving it in a big heap.) Label the sections or the side of the tray and leave your plants to dry.
6 - If you're not using an oven or a dehydrator, allow plant material to dry for at LEAST two or three weeks before breaking it up for storage in airtight jars or freezer bags. Make sure the plants are dry and brittle all the way through to avoid rot and mold in your storage containers and spoilage of the contents. Label and date the containers and store at room temperature out of direct sunlight. (If you discover mold or a bad smell in any of your containers, discard the contents and either throw away the container or sterilize it for reuse - this generally only works for glass jars.)
7 - Check back periodically! Give your wild plant patches time to regrow and you can then make additional small harvests on future visits. Also, look for different plants to emerge as the seasons change.
Familiarizing yourself with your local biome allows you to connect with the land where you live (and encourages you to care about it in the process). Also, it can garner you components for your workings for the cost of a few bags and an afternoon stroll.
But wait! What if your local wild weeds don't have magical correspondences? Not to worry - there's an exercise for that.
Good luck and Happy Witching! 🌿

Some Freyja facts for those who want to know more! (an addition to my Aphrodite facts)
✶ As the daughter of Njord, the sea god, and sister to Freyr, the god of prosperity, Freyja holds a prominent position among the Norse gods.
✶ She possesses the magical necklace Brísingamen, acquired through a deal with four dwarves, which enhances her power.
✶ Freyja's name translates to "Lady" or "Mistress" in Old Norse, reflecting her status as a powerful and respected goddess in Norse mythology.
✶ Freyja is often associated with falconry, as she is said to possess a cloak of falcon feathers that allows her to transform into a falcon, granting her the ability to travel between the realms of the gods and the mortal world.
✶ In some stories, Freyja is depicted as the mother of two daughters, Hnoss and Gersemi, who are personifications of beauty and treasure, further emphasizing her association with wealth and prosperity.
✶ Despite her prominence, much of Freyja's mythology and worship have been obscured over time, with many details about her cult and rituals lost to history. However, she remains a beloved and enigmatic figure in Norse mythology.

Offerings to Freya 🍓

Continuing my series on my altars, and the offerings I gift to my gods, I thought I’d share with you my altar to Freyja, Norse goddess of battle and love, lust and strength today! Let’s unpack my humble altar to the strawberry queen:
Butterflies
One of Freya’s sacred animals is the butterfly! I’m Norse Mythos, butterflies, and also ladybugs, were very sacred to her, and are said to have followed her as an entourage! They were even nicknamed “freya’s hens” (adorable). Butterflies, wether that be iconography, or the real deal, are a wonderful reminder of Freya’s allure and connection to nature and love ❤️
Roses
Much like her Mediterranean Equivalence, the beautiful Aphrodite, roses are and always have been associated with freya, a scent assured to beguile any love-smitten man or woman who crosses her irresistible, tempting path. They say all’s fair in love and war, and Freya would know! What’s more fair and classic than a beautiful, fragrant rose? If you don’t have the real deal, you could also draw her pictures of a rose, or if your feeling extra bougie, purchase a rose scent, or even a piece of porcelain adorned with rose iconography!
Bleeding Hearts
A part of Freya that isn’t touched on as much as it with similar goddesses like Aphrodite, is that, unfortunately, being a god of love AND war, invites some inherent tragic aspects to Freya’s story and personality. She has suffered heartbreak, and is the arbiter of both love, and also pain and heartbreak on the battlefield she governs. I think bleeding heart flowers are a great way to let her know you sympathize with that pain, and that you hear and recognize her.
Strawberry iconography
Probably her biggest association, strawberries and Freya are two peas in a pod. In her (and mine) ancestral home in Norway, wild strawberries are one of the few wild crops that grows and fruits well into the winter, a vital source of sustenance for Norse folk during the desolate and hostile northern winters, especially at the time of the Vikings and when Norse mythology was being written. They are a symbol of the fragile line between life and death, an homage to Freya being the god of love, and yet at the same time, war as well. You can choose any kind of strawberry or strawberry adjacent item to honor her with, but I personally gave her an adorable porcelain mid century creamer jug with hand painted strawberries on it! Sweet and creamy just like she is ❤️ I’d also love to get her a piece of (genuine, the real stuff from Kazakhstan) strawberry Quartz, but I fear it may be out of my price range at the moment 😅 (which she is fine with and understands of course!)
Strawberry snail shell
As a marine biologist there was no way I wasn’t gonna give Freya a sea shell. I know sea shells are more Aphrodites domain when it comes to love goddess stuff, but I feel like the shoe fits here! There is a type of “turbo” species marine snail that has a shell that looks like a strawberry, and is called the strawberry turbo! And I think that’s fucking precious so of course I bought her one immediately ❤️ Freya LOVES strawberries, so if you do make her an altar, I heavily recommend gifting her something strawberry related! Even if it’s just a sketch you make.
Cinnamon
A universal spice of love and sexuality, cinnamon is an easy to find ingredient that makes a perfect addition to an altar dedicated to any love god, in this case Freya! I put it in her jewelry box so that it traps the aroma and makes the box smell lovely whenever I open it to add an offering.
Vanadinite
Geologist nerd fact coming in hot: vanadium, an element on the periodic table and a major mineral used in steel work, has its etymology derived from the name “Vanadis” the Norse name of none other than lady Freya! Vanadinite, a mineral that is associated with lust and sensuality, is named for its high content of vanadium! So it goes without saying that this is a perfect crystal to offer lady Freya!
Kunzite
Kunzite is a stone of universal, divine love, and it’s baby pink color is symbolic is that! I’ve found personally that Freya loves it, and whenever I wear a piece of it in my pendant, I can feel her walking alongside me.
Rose Quartz
This one is kind of a no brainer, given the vast amount of information and ideology related to the metaphysical properties of rose Quartz, I won’t go too much into why this is a staple love god offering. All I’ll say is Freya loves roses, she loves pink, and she loves pink roses. Pink rose Quartz is kind of the embodiment of all of that!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
These items and symbols are a great place to start with an altar to the lovely lady Freya of Norway, and I’m sure I’ve missed some things that you guys can recommend! What are some things that you offer Freya, do you have an altar to her? Let me know ❤️🍓
WHO IS SHE?
Freyja is the goddess of love, beauty, fertility, sex, war, battle, gold, and seiðr (magic for seeing and influencing the future) in Norse mythology. MISC:
Cats: she is associated with cats because, in Norse mythology, she is said to own two cats that pull her chariot through the night sky. According to some myths, Freyja's cats are named Bygul and Trjegul, and are said to be the reason why the Milky Way is created every night. The cats are also said to be magical and have the ability to predict the future. Additionally, cats were considered to be sacred animals to the Vikings and were often kept as pets and used for hunting vermin.
Moon: Freyja is associated with the moon because she is the Norse goddess of love, fertility, beauty, and war. She is also the goddess of the moon and is often depicted as riding a chariot pulled by two cats, which are her sacred animals. According to Norse mythology, Freyja is the owner of the magical necklace Brísingamen, which was created by four dwarfs and was said to shine with the light of the moon. Additionally, some scholars speculate that Freyja's association with the moon may also stem from her name, which means "lady" and is similar to the Old English word for the moon, which is "mōna.”
Friday: this weekday is considered to be the day of Freyja in Norse mythology because it is believed that it is the day of the week where the goddess is most active and able to interact with mortals. In some accounts, Friday was believed to be the day of the week where Freyja and the other goddesses would meet together to participate in various activities, such as spinning and weaving. Additionally, because Freyja was known as the goddess of love and beauty, Friday was also believed to be the day of the week where romantic pursuits were most likely to be successful.
War and battle: Freyja is associated with war and battle because she was a warrior goddess who was known for her prowess in battle. She was said to lead the Valkyries, who were the female warriors of Norse mythology, into battle. She was also known for her love of gold and her connection to the slain, as her hall in the afterlife, Fólkvangr, was said to be where she received half of the dead who had died in battle.
Boar: she is associated with the boar because in Norse mythology, she is known for riding a boar named Hildisvíni, which means "battle swine" or "fighting pig" in Old Norse. It is said that Freyja uses Hildisvini as her mount and that she rides it into battle alongside her other animal companions. The connection between Freyja and the boar may also be linked to her reputation as a fertility goddess, as the boar was seen as a symbol of fertility and abundance in many Germanic cultures.
The colour gold: Freyja is associated with the colour gold because, according to Norse mythology, she is the goddess of gold and in some myths, the goddess of wealth. In some other myths, Freyja is said to have received her share of the treasure of the gods, which included a magical necklace and a golden boar. She was also said to be the owner of a golden ring that had the power to bestow both wealth and wisdom upon its wearer. Additionally, in some depictions of Freyja, she is often depicted wearing or holding golden objects, further reinforcing her connection to the precious metal.
FACTS ABOUT FREYJA:
• In some sources, she is known as the leader of the völva, which are the female seers and mystics of Norse mythology.
• Freyja is said to be the creator of the Vanir tribe of gods.
• She has given the gift of fertility to the Vanir.
• In Norse mythology, it is said that Freyja received the golden ring Brisingamen from the Dwarves in exchange for her favour, which leads to the story of her affair with Odin.
• Freyja is said to have gifted Skádi a necklace called Érfárátr which gives eternal youthful beauty.
• The völva cloak is a symbol of Freyja's power and authority.
• She had a magical feathered cloak which she could use to transform into a falcon. The cape made it possible for her to astral travel, to see beyond the limits of the physical world. She loaned it to Loki at some point.
• One should not underestimate Freyja, for she embodies the roles of a warrior, a sorceress, and a shapeshifter. She taught the chief of the Æsir, Odin, the magical art of seiðr, showing her mastery over magic. She also has the power to choose half of the warriors slain in battle to reside in her hall, Sessrúmnir, showing her connection to death and the afterlife.
• If you are trying to work with this deity, it is wise to be aware that Freyja does not live by human standards of morality. She lives to her own accord and will go by any means to obtain what she wants, as she is viewed as a goddess of the untamed forces of nature. Freyja may appear to you and either gently motivate you in a direction or outright demand it! How she might appear to someone, especially in a dream or vision, would depend on the context, the individual's beliefs, and the cultural interpretations of her character. However, based on her attributes and descriptions in Norse myths Freyja might manifest as a cat, a beautiful woman adorned with jewelry, a falcon or hawk, or even a fierce warrior.
• The Vanir Queen is a common title given to Freyja.
🐈⬛ ྀི Goddess Worship: An Introduction of Freyja 🐈⬛ ྀི
Note: Day 17 of our October calendar! Today we have an introduction of deities I work with/worship. This post is to provide some information about the deities but also how I work with them personally. Everyone has their own methods with the Gods, and you should do whatever feels right with you while also respecting the bases of the religions.
─── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ───── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ───── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ───── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆
Historical Background:
Freyja (or Freya) is a major goddess in Norse mythology, belonging to the Vanir tribe of deities, which are associated with fertility, prosperity, and nature. (Vanir and Aesir are different deities in the Norse Mytho). She is the daughter of Njord, the sea god, and sister to Freyr (Twins), the god of fertility, peace, and prosperity. Her hall is known as Fólkvangr which welcome half of the warriors who died in battle. She is also the goddess of love, beauty, war, death, and magic (her magic is known as seidr associated with prophecy and shape-shifting. she could see into the future and use the power of runes). Freyja’s worship may predate Norse mythology, with roots in earlier Germanic or proto-Indo-European traditions second the archeologists studies.
Attributes and Symbols:
Cats: Freyja’s chariot is said to be drawn by two large cats, symbolizing fertility and domesticity. She has been long symbolized through cats and usually people who. worship her will use cats to connect with her Boars: She also rides the boar named Hildisvíni, a symbol of fertility, protection, and strength. Brísingamen: Her famous necklace, a symbol of fertility, sexuality, and beauty. The Brísingamen was often considered an object of great power and desire as in the mytho many creatures and gods have fought to have it. Falcon Cloak: This magical cloak allows Freyja to shapeshift into a bird, symbolizing freedom, the soul’s flight, and her connection to magic. Amber and Gold: Amber, known as "Freyja's tears," is associated with the goddess due to the myth where she weeps golden tears for her missing husband, Óðr.
Worship and Rituals:
Seidr (Magic): Freyja is a practitioner and teacher of seidr, a form of Norse magic involving divination, trance states, and influencing fate. Women (and men) who practiced seidr would invoke her for aid. this pratice is still used in the Nordic countries but it needs to be taught through initiation. One cannot learn to practice Seidr magic without initiation by another Seidr. One way of worshipping her is through the practice of Runes. Love and Fertility: As a fertility goddess, Freyja was worshipped by those seeking love, marriage, and fertility. Offerings of gold, honey, and flowers were made in her name. A lot of people would also use sexual intercourse as a way to give away their energy to the goddess in exchange of love and pregnancy. Battle and Death: Despite being a goddess of love, Freyja is also a goddess of war and death. Half of those who die in battle are said to go to her hall, Fólkvangr, while the other half go to Odin’s hall, Valhalla. One can worship her not only for love but also for strenght in battles. She is fierce when it comes to help protect those who pray her. Now in the modern times, her worship of battles have been adjusted with internal battles, challenges in life and even justice. Festivals: Freyja was likely honored during seasonal festivals like Dísablót (mostly done during winter seasons), where offerings were made to the dísir, female spirits or ancestors, who were linked to fertility and protection. It involves sacrifices (not animals but instead sacrificing something of you in return of something else) and ritual offerings to Freyja or the feminine ancestor spirits. Unfortunately there isn't many source of information about the norse mythology as Norse People didn't especially write it.
-> When worshipping Freyja, do not take her for granted. Her energy is pure and warm but she wishes for attention. Make a small altar for her, give offerings every friday (and of course offerings during spells were you invoke her energy or help). The important here to feel connected to the deity and respect her as a whole energy. Everyone has their own way of praticing, so do what feels right. But remember to do your own research. Get out of TikTok and READ! archeological revues and works are important.
-> Ideas for offerings: Wine, honey, bread, prayers, cat symbols (statues, whiskers, furr, ect), same with boar figures, jewelery, gold, coins, amber, red fruits, apples, incense, candles, anything else that feels right to you
Slavic Magick
Slavic magick, also known as Rodnovery (Native Faith), Slavic Witchcraft, or Vedism, is a deeply ancestral, animistic, and nature-based practice rooted in the folklore, mythology, and spiritual traditions of the Slavic peoples of Eastern Europe (Russia, Poland, Ukraine, Belarus, Serbia, Czech Republic, etc.). It is a blend of pre-Christian paganism, folk magick, and shamanic traditions, honoring the spirits of nature, ancestors, and deities.
Core Beliefs in Slavic Magick
Worship of the Rod and Rozhanitsy (The Great Ancestors):
• Rod is the primordial god of fate, ancestry, and creation, representing the great cosmic order.
• The Rozhanitsy are ancestral spirits who determine the fates of newborns.
Animism & Nature Worship:
• Everything in nature is alive and sacred—rivers, trees, stones, and animals all contain spirits.
• Slavic magick involves working with land spirits (Domovoi, Leshy, Rusalka, etc.) to bring blessings or avoid misfortune.
Duality & Balance:
• Slavic spirituality embraces the harmony of opposites—life and death, light and darkness, masculine and feminine.
• The Zorya (Morning and Evening Stars) embody this balance, protecting cosmic order.
The Power of Words & Blessings (Zagovory):
• Spoken charms, incantations, and verbal spells (called Zagovory) hold immense power.
• Traditional blessings, protective words, and curses were often whispered over water, fire, or herbs.
Slavic Deities & Spirits in Magick
Major Slavic Deities:
• Perun – God of thunder, war, and justice (similar to Thor).
• Zorya – The twin goddesses of dawn and dusk, gatekeepers of the cosmos.
• Morana – Goddess of winter, death, and rebirth (associated with the burning of effigies in spring).
Slavic Household Spirits:
• Domovoi – Guardian spirit of the home; offerings keep him peaceful.
• Leshy – Woodland spirit, protector of the forest.
• Rusalka – Water spirit, sometimes benevolent, sometimes vengeful.
• Bannik – Bathhouse spirit, must be appeased with offerings of soap and water.
Ancestral Veneration & The Dead:
• Dziady is a ritual where food and offerings are left for departed ancestors.
• Ancestral spirits play an important role in guidance, protection, and revenge magick.
Tools & Sacred Items in Slavic Witchcraft
Herbs & Plant Magick:
• Mugwort (Chernobylnik) – Protection, divination, and connecting to spirits.
• St. John’s Wort (Ivan-da-Marya) – Wards off evil spirits.
• Rowan Berries (Riabina) – Used for protection charms.
• Birch Bark & Leaves – Associated with purity, new beginnings, and the goddess Mokosh.
Ritual Objects & Symbols:
• Rushnyk (Sacred Cloth) – Embroidered with protective symbols, used in blessings and rituals.
• Dolls (Motanka) – Handmade dolls used for protection, healing, and fertility spells.
• Sun Wheel (Kolovrat) – Symbol of Svarog and the cycle of life.
Sacred Water & Fire:
• Water from three different wells or rivers is used in purification rituals.
• Bonfires (Kupala Night Fire) cleanse and bring fertility and protection.
Slavic Magical Practices & Spells
Protective Magic & Amulets:
Frost Moon - November 15 2024
Grab your scarves and mittens, witches - it’s time for the Frost Moon!
Frost Moon
The Frost Moon is the name given to the full moon which occurs in the month of November. In temperate zones in the Northern Hemisphere, November is the month during which the first frost or first hard freeze of the season is usually observed.
Like many full moon names, this is an English translation of a traditional name used by one or more North American indigenous groups, in this case the Cree and the Assiniboine. Similarly, the Anishinaabe and the Ojibwe also called this month the Freezing Moon or Freezing Over Moon respectively, as indigenous naming conventions usually refer to the entire lunar month and not just the full moon itself. Other indigenous names include Deer Rutting Moon (Dakota and Lakota), Whitefish Moon (Algonquin), Leaf Fall Moon (Catawba), and Digging (or Scratching) Moon (Tlingit). The latter refers to the habit of deer and other creatures scratching up the ground to find hidden food caches, as well as bears digging their dens for winter hibernation.
Another very common name for this month’s full moon is the Beaver Moon, due to the increased sightings of these busy little creatures shoring up their dams and food stores before the first hard freeze of winter. (Unfortunately, it’s also a reference to the peak days of the North American fur trade, signaling the optimal hunting time for beaver pelts.)
In some modern pagan traditions, particularly those claiming Celtic lineage, the November moon is also called the Mourning Moon. This occurs when the November moon is the final full moon before the winter solstice. In 2024, the November is not a Mourning Moon, as the December full moon falls on the 15th, several days before the winter solstice. (I was not able to find an original source for this claim, but given the celebration of the beloved dead in October, a subsequent period of mourning and remembrance makes sense. It may also be a reference to the Catholic All Souls Day, but that’s just speculation.)
This particular Frost Moon will be at peak fullness in the afternoon hours of November 15th (4:29pm EST). This is the final supermoon in the four-month consecutive series of supermoons for 2024, so make the most of it!
What Does It Mean For Witches?
This is the month when migrations are finishing up, animals are finishing their cold weather preparations, the temperature starts to plummet, and fall descends rapidly into winter. If you haven’t finished your preparations for winter, mundane or magical, this is probably your last chance to do it. (Don’t forget to prioritize and delegate!)
With the days getting shorter and the nights getting colder, the temptation to hunker down and hibernate is STRONG. But we have to remember that just like the eponymous Beaver, humans have to stay active during the cold months. Start stockpiling ways to keep yourself busy and motivated, since that Seasonal Slump is on the horizon for many of us.
Consider also the beaver’s dam. You’ve spent the whole year working towards all kinds of goals. Is there still something blocking your way? What might it be and how can you best address and remove the obstacle? Or, alternatively, is it time to stop and rest and see if that roadblock will clear itself with a little time and patience?
In keeping with the Mourning Moon moniker, this could be a good time for reflection and remembrance. Think back on what you’ve built this year and take time to be proud of yourself. Remember what is dear to you, take a moment to miss someone who is gone, and consider rekindling bonds that may have lapsed or grown tenuous during the hustle and bustle of daily life. It’s always a good time to tell someone you love them.
On a practical note, if you have pets that regularly stay outdoors overnight, start bringing them inside or make sure they have a shelter that is properly warm, clean, and secure against human or animal intruders. If it’s too chilly for you to be out without a coat, it’s too chilly for the critters, fur or no fur. PLEASE do not leave your furry friends out in the cold!
What Witchy Things Can We Do?
As we prepare for winter, this is an excellent time to shore up those magical protections. Check on your longterm spells to see if they need refreshing, or just go ahead and do a quick cleanse-and-reclaim as a proactive measure. Even if everything is solid, practice your technique by shoring up points of egress or adding a new layer to the existing wards or trying a new visualization or method for personal protections. Create a new charm or talisman to carry you through the winter or make something festive and decorative that could be given as a gift.
On the subject of cleansing, this is a good time to clear out any stale or disruptive energy that might be lingering from the recent change of seasons. Solstices can be times of transformation, but change is rarely a calm or peaceful process and it brings its’ own set of challenges and upheavals. If things have gotten a little more chaotic than you’d like, take a moment to put your house in order, metaphysically speaking.
If you’re partial to jar spells, consider putting one together to help maintain safety and abundance through the winter months. If you’re going to be traveling for the upcoming holidays, a bit of luck and protection for the journey wouldn’t go amiss either.
If you've been working any longterm magic over the past few months to coincide with the abundance of supermoons, this is the time to bring your working to a culmination. Finish setting things in motion, tie up loose ends, close loopholes, and send your magic out into the world. Be sure to document what you've done and when and what methods you used, as well as any indicators of success to look for later if (and hopefully when) tangible results begin to appear.
Try a frost divination. If your area is starting to see overnight frosts, take a moment in the morning to examine the patterns that the frost leaves on the windows of your home or vehicle. Do you see any patterns or images in the ice crystals? Check the weather forecast and whisper a question into the wind when the overnight temps will drop below freezing. Then in the morning, see if there’s an answer waiting for you!
Happy Frost Moon, witches! 🌕❄
Spoonie Witchcraft- Full moon
So I have been thinking about low energy magic. As someone who is disabled I haven't had the energy to do withcraft the way I used to. I have not been doing much at all for the last year. There has been no moon water made, no ritutual magic, and I haven't even been able to smoke cleanse my home.
I have been stressed financially, as well as in extreme pain this past year. I decided to see what other spoonies had to say about what to do on a full moon. I want to do something, but I am not sure what I can or am able to do. I went to my witchy discord servers and Facebook groups and asked around. I also thought of a couple of ideas on my own as well.
Here are some ideas to use for the spoonie witch.
Sit outside under the full moon. This would be called moon bathing but sometimes theres a full ritual around it. However, just sitting out under the full moon and basking in its light is good enough. This is also only if weather permiting. Don't go out into a hurricane or other severe weather. You may just end up being blown away instead.
Prayer. Praying to the God's you believe in or work with in silence. Praying to your ancestors and giving them thanks for thier guidence and wisdom. Obviously this is more for pagan witches and not for the atheists.
Sigils. You can do sigils everywhere. You can draw a sigil on your palm and visualize its purpose. For example, drawing an abundance sigil and visualize money coming to you. It's a good simple spell. Can also draw sigils in your food with a knife or other utensil depending on what you are eating. Peanut butter jelly time!
Birthday candles. Using birthday candles in candle magic instead of regular candles can be a quick spell and still work just as effectively. Making wishes on cake is magic. Maybe make a wish on a chocolate swiss roll.
Tea and coffee. You speak intentions into your drinks. Maybe have a full moon tea blend and do this when the sun goes down. You can buy different blends of tea on etsy or at a farmers market.
Watching youtube videos. Watch videos about magic and the full moon. There might even be a live meditation on there you can join in on.
Tarot readings. A low spoonie tarot reading. A basic 3 card spread that is for fun and not the deep soul searching/healing that you may normally do. Another tarot idea is just to pull one card to just see what the message would be.
Gemstones on nightstand. Put stones on your nightstand that have the intentions you'd like to draw to you. For example, amethyst for protection against nightmares. Maybe green adventurine for bringing in luck and abundance to your life. Use black obsidian for protection against gossip. Well, by now, you get the idea.
Cleansing. There are multiple methods of cleansing. If you have enough energy, a small ritual shower could be what is needed to get more energy. Or, at the very least, feel more refreshed. If you can't stand for a shower, soaking in a tub with salt water will work. You may use a shower chair for the shower if you have one. I use a bar of soap that is hand-made by other witches. They tend to put essential oils and intentions, so there is a cleansing effect. If you are too low energy for that, going back to youttube idea; they have cleansing meditation music. You can sound cleanse with the music. You may also play witchy ambient music. There are a vast number of options for sound cleansing.
Journaling. Journaling is something that can be done lying down. You can find some journal prompts on Tumblr, or you can find them on pintinterest. You can do shadow work journaling as a form of releasing. It's fun to select a new journal or even get a fancy pen.
Dressing up. If you have a witchy shirt, dress, or robes. It is fun to dress up on the full moon in honor of the moon. Like going to a magical witchy party. I have 2 witchy dresses, a witchy sweater, and a long sleeve stars and moons blouse. I also have a regular black dress for if I want to be more subtle.
Self care. It is okay to just watch a movie or binge watch a favorite TV show. You could also read a book for fun. If you are very into astrology, depending on the astrological sign of the moon phase, self care would be more important. Tomorrow, the full moon is in Pisces, and there is a lunar eclipse. Self care may be the best option during this full moon in September.
I wanted to say a big thank you to The Four Winds Coven on Discord as well as the modern witch collective for helping me brainstorm this list. There are more of us spoonie witches out there than we think. This list is also great for someone who is just too busy to do much either. I hope you all enjoy these tips and tricks!
hexxing / cursing / jinxing / banishing ingredients.
(anything can be used with the right intent, these are just my favorites, and what i use them with the intent of .) ☆
dead crickets (crickets are often loud in life and disturb sleep, dead crickets to send auditory hallucinations.)
gone bad lavender (bad dreams, nightmares, issues falling/staying asleep.)
dragons blood incense/smoke (chaos, destruction, sometimes physical illness.)
cigarette butts (i like to imagine the smoke getting stuck in their lungs, physical illness.)
dead wasps/wasp nest (getting someone where it hurts, unexpected loss and or pain.)
rotten chili pepper (regular chili pepper works too, but i find that rotten gives the victim an extra "kick" )
vinegar/a sour wine (sending their sour/bitter energy back at them.)
mistletoe (loneliness, BUTTTT can be used for one hell of a forced love spell on someone you hate- make someone they hate OBSESSED with them.)
broken glass (breaking them down, causing pain.)
animal bones (extreme illness, physical harm.)
cemetery dirt (bonus points if its from a graveyard an ancestor is buried in.. ancestors can be SO helpful.)
blood (obviously be careful, blood magick is definitely not beginner friendly, but this can send the jinx/curse/hex, whatever after their bloodline.)
razor blades (pain, difficulty.)
broken egg shells (break them down yourself, put all your aggression into it, imagine you're destroying their trust, i use this for paranoia.)
a picture of your victim, a piece of paper with their name/birthday (bonus points for hometown.)
thorns (trouble in romance, arguing.)
tiger lily (sickness, confusion, lethargy.)
*gentle reminder,
a JINX is an inconvenience.
a HEX is bad luck/illnesss.
a CURSE is direct harm.
blessed be! ★
