1. Not describing period-accurate underwear. I will insult you and your loved ones for even daring to use the word “panties.”

2. Being a beloved artist in the community. How dare you be popular in the fandom? I hate you and your drawings—it’s so unfair that everyone makes you fanart and there’s so much unity and love between people.

3. Drawing in anime style. Your drawing looks like mine because I also draw anime, so you’re obviously copying my art. I have no proof, but I have social media and I’ll drag your name through the mud without you even knowing it.

4. This is AI. That’s also AI. Your drawing is very cute: must be AI. Wow, your writing is excellent: definitely AI.

5. “I wish there was more unity in the fandom.” Oh, but there is—in my ultra-exclusive Discord group where you can only interact if you have a certain number of followers and speak a certain language.

6. “I like this ship.” Absolutely not. I’ll have to send you death threats until you learn to like what I like.

7. “I like Sebastian/Ominis.” Oh great, I didn’t know you were a PDF. Do you realize they’re minors?

8. “I like Victor/Aesop.” You disgust me. Did you forget your character is 15? You should like Sebastian or Ominis.

9. You don’t paint your own backgrounds? Ooooooh my god, that’s such a huge disgrace. With AI art and bigger issues around, I still find it absolutely terrible that you draw everything by hand except the backgrounds. It just breaks my heart. It’s bad. So bad. The background is my favorite part of any drawing. I mean, why would I care that you actually draw well and design amazing characters? I wanted a background.

“how to recognize AI in fanfic” — hey so this is another not-gentle reminder that AI stole from us. it’s using OUR words and OUR sentences and OUR styles.

writing “long” paragraphs is not a sign of AI — it’s a common narrative choice many writers make both in fanfiction and in traditionally published novels, and AI stole it from us.

using an em dash is not a sign of AI. it’s a stylistic sentence choice that’s been an option in place of commas and semicolons for a very long time, and AI stole it from us.

long sentence structures are not a sign of AI, but are yet another stylistic choice writers often make to create a cadence and tone that mimics the flow of poetry, and AI stole it from us.

“YA narrative breaks”? i don’t even know what the fuck this means, but i can guarantee that AI stole it from us.

italics are once again a stylistic choice that many writers love to use to create emphasis, and it’s a more stylistically acceptable and traditional form of emphasis than bold or underline text. oh, and just to be extra clear: AI STOLE IT FROM US.

stop creating fandom witch hunts over AI when you know fuck all about what it means to sit and write a story, and to spend hours fiddling with sentence structure and dialogue to get the exact right tone. writers will stop writing out of fear that their work “sounds like AI” — IT DOESNT! AI STOLE FROM US! AI SOUNDS LIKE US! — and after a while, all that will be available on AO3 is shitty AI-generated fanfiction.

because yeah, people are going to continue to use AI to write fanfiction whether you “call them out” or not. but making a laughable thread on X that uses asinine criteria is not going to fix that problem. it will just push the real writers out because people will accuse them of using AI when they haven’t, and they will (rightfully) stop writing for spaces that attack them.

I thought so! Basically, I originally had an OC for a different fandom by the name of Zipporah Ackerman. When I decided to try out a Slytherin MC, I made that OC in HL and ended up giving her a different spelling and last name. Strausser was the surname of a client at my workplace that I had just been working with (I work at a vet hospital) and seemed like it fit her. It also fits my backstory for her. "Tzipora" is a more Germanic spelling, and Strausser is a German and Ashkenazi surname. Since Tzipora was born in Germany to German Ashkenazi parents, it fit.

25 for Tzipora please because that name sounds completely alien to me and Strausser makes me think of flower bouquets 😅

25. what is your mc’s favourite season? why is it their favourite?

Thank you for the ask! Tzipora is a Hebrew name predominantly seen in Jewish communities. It means "bird". In the Torah, Zipporah (alt spelling) was the daughter of Jethro and the wife of Moses. For her favorite season, I see it being winter. She doesn't like the cold, but she enjoys snow, and Chanukah (which is actually fairly minor for Jewish holidays) is always fun to celebrate. Plus, she grew up Orthodox and is used to long sleeves, multiple layers, and long skirts, so it's the one time of the year that she isn't overheated.
