Confinement Portraits, Paris. 2020

For our last day of official confinement in Paris, I photographed people around town doing what they usually do, but in confinement mode. Despite the distance imposed by masks, I met a lot of great people! It’s been a strange couple of months here, as I know it has been for many around the world. Here are just a few memories.

Alberto Giacometti spent most of his life working away just down the street from me in the 14th arrondisement of Paris. For years I would walk by the modest exterior and immagine what the space must have once been like. And now it is possible, as much of what was once his studio (including entire walls) has been transported and installed in the new Fondation Giacometti, next to one of Picasso’s old studios by Boulevard Raspail. It is a truely splendid space!
