“Sorry Lucas.” Conner muttered and looked around. “Hey want to make the best of it and find some food to eat? There’s gotta be something good like pigs in a blanket. I bet if we find where those are, we can find my best friend Bart too.”
The apology makes lucus frown a little, reaching over he ruffles Conner’s hair a little. “Hey don’t sweat it kid. Maybe this stupid party is grinding on my nerves more than I thought.’ He shrugs, food didn’t sound too bad, better than standing around trying to talk to the pompous assholes around here. “Sounds good kiddo, lead the way.”

“It’s not a stupid question.” He narrowed his eyes and then sighed out of defeat. “There is no way they’d make this event friendly.”
He doesn’t make another comment about the question, letting the kid say his piece and dropping it. Knowing he was a little irritable since he had to dress up for something he no way supported. Eyebrow twitching again with his tie pitches him again. “your right kid, the cause is stupid. I hope something happens to shut this shit down.

THESE EVENTS WERE SOMETHING Andrew had once been used to. Back when they were a part of a team, meeting with other important figures from whether it be this world or some other dimension. It had been their life once, but he had put the Apollo suit away in their closet – despite the fact his husband still wore his. He couldn’t dwell on such thoughts. He leaned in closer against Lucas, liking the affectionate side of him. “It is stupid, isn’t it? I miss it sometimes, not hiding. This event is going to rub people the wrong way.”
The warmth emitting from Andrew's taller frame warmed Lucas’ side, a soothing feeling that furthered calming Lucus down. His own body leaning into the touch naturally, perhaps from all the years of counting on Andrew. “You could always not give a fuck and do it anyway.” He smirks a little nudging his shoulder against his husband's chest. He wasn’t sure how much of that was a joke, he did miss having apollo by his side. Someone he knew he could trust, sure Grayson was cool. But no one could compare to how synced midnighter and apollo were, fighting side by side like a dance. Covering the other’s blind spots fluidly, the good old days. He lets out a deep sigh, reminiscing the fond memories. “This event is already rubbing me the wrong way.” He grumbles, lifting up his drink. “As to why I’m going to have another one of theses.”

Whoever this man is, here is clearly something extremely wrong with him. Yelena doesn’t have time for this, her intention is to get as far away from this whole situation as possible, which includes getting away from lunatics like this. His grip on her arm is relentless though, even with all of her strength she’s sure she wouldn’t be able to get free. She doesn’t respond to his harsh whisper, rolling her eyes instead. As though he thinks he’s intimidating her or something.
The dress is a concern, Yelena is not going to find fighting and escaping so easy in this thing - it’s likely it will be ruined, but that’s not a major concern. “You’re clearly insane, were you even paying attention?” Yelena yanks her arm out of his grip and slips away from him, putting a few feet of distance between them as she watches his movements. He’s clearly unpredictable as hell, she would assume violence is not even remotely out of reach for him, and while she’s prepared to fight, she’d prefer to get out of here. “This wasn’t me, but well done wasting time and letting the actual shooter get away.”
She pulls on her arm, which only makes Lucus squeeze harder. Finger’s biting into her flesh with a strength that was far superior to an average man. The boiling anger builds deep within his chest, exciting him for the impending combat. A smile tugs at his lips, fuck maybe he was kind of crazy for loving it. But he was built this way, created to be a killing machine. He had no need to question his sadistic glee to break bones. Besides, he only did it for a good cause, protecting the weak, destroying the powerful.
Thowing his head back he lets out a bark of laughter, shaking his head. “Really? So if I asked you if you were paid to kill someone you could honestly say you wouldn’t? know your fucking type. manipulative, heartless, the mayor might have been a shitty guy but maybe your employer wanted a statement. Who cares.” He throws her arm hard, clenching his fists in preparation for a fight. “shut up and get your fucking guns out. I’m tired of listening.”

Yelena’s spent years diligently picking up on the signs that someone is following her. And whoever this man is, he’s not hiding it, and just as Yelena is considering her options for escape she feels his fingers curl harshly around her arm, and she can’t help but hiss at the tightness of his grip. She considers trying to charm her way out of it, as she’s always known how to do, but his grip is cruel, biting into her skin, and she glances up at the man coldly, taking in his features.
Damn this stupid dress, if she was in something more practical she could’ve escaped easily the moment she heard him. “I have nothing to hide. Though you could be a bit more chivalrous while escorting a lady.”
He wasn’t trying to hide a thing, the chaos around them gave him enough coverage to do what he wanted out of costume. No one was paying attention, too focused in their mindless panic. It only aided him in apprehending the shooter. He wasn’t much of a person to stand around waiting for something to happen. Lucus acted, it had saved many lives before and it’ll do the same today. “Sure, but I don’t really see a lady here. Just an assassin with red hands.” He whispered the last bit into the woman’s ear, a bite to the word assassin.
He was enraged, did this lady really think it would be that easy? Come in gun down the mayor and slide away like nothing happened? The thought makes his eyebrows narrow in anger. ”Heard you talking to pretty boy about your little hobby. Didn’t think anyone else was listening, did you? Well. that’s your mistake. And I connected the dots, you did this. I don’t even fucking care why. Spare me the story, just show me what you got. It’s been a while since I got my hands dirty.”

ANDREW FELT LIKE he has talked to more people tonight than he has in a while. It felt good to get to know some of the other citizens, hear their opinions, and just mingle. They were here so why not? However, he wanted to spend time with Lucus right now. He looked at the glass and then back to his face. “Sure, I’ll give it a taste.” He takes it, sipping at it slowly before handing it back. “That’s actually pretty good. They went all out for this thing didn’t they?”
Even a part of Lucas recognized his actions and thought the process isn’t the same crazy he used to. there was something darker, tugging at him. fear, paranoia, emotions still raw that was so dangerous for something like Lucus to have. But he was coming back together, slowly but surely the frayed nerves were being glued back together. A lot of it had to do with the god right in front of him. His husband, the light in his life. “they did. You know how it is when people have money. They can’t fucking wait to throw that shit out the window.” He shakes his head and leans in wrapping his arms around his husband's waist. “All for a stupid ban.”

A while after the shooting, and helping people with Andrew Lucus had slipped away just for a brief moment to take care of something. He had a suspicion on who did the shooting, especially after hearing tidbits of stolen conversation. Fingers clench tightly as he approaches the women, gray eyes narrowed at the target. “Excuse me miss. I think you and I should have a talk.” He didn’t let her answer, reaching out he grabs her arm swiftly, squeezing it hard to make sure she understood he wasn’t fucking around here.
“Now.”

“Something about making the event seem more friendly or some shit? I don’t fucking know kid. Don’t ask stupid questions.”

“I guess this is alright. I’m still unsure why we need to wear the masks. Feels a little like we’re being made fun of…”

THESE type of events were something Andrew hadn’t sneaked his way into in a while. Now it seemed a little bittersweet of a night, but as a police officer he can’t exactly go against what the ban stands for even if he feels differently deep down. If anything burning everything seems to be too much in his opinion. He was talking to someone, until he decided to go look for his husband which was when they nearly ran into each other. “Honey, where did you go?” He smiled fondly underneath the mask on his face.
He lifts up the half-emptied drink, in his hand. Silently showing while Andrew was out there mingling he was getting acquainted with the bar. Looking back at his cup he swirls the liquid clockwise, humming a little. “It’s not actually that bad, do you wanna taste babe?” He asks the earlier feeling of panic washed away by the sight of his husband. Andrew had always had a soothing effect on Lucus’ a sweet burst of endorphins he had always been addicted to.

Taking another swing of his drink he looks around, eyes searching through the crowd needing to find his husband. He hasn’t fully relaxed yet, still feeling nervous about letting Andrew alone. Not being able to find him quickly makes his heart rate pick up, taking a step back to search for him he nearly almost bumps into him. “Shit!” He exclaims, frowning a little he lets out a sigh. “There you are, I thought I’d lose you in the crowd of some shit.”

“Friend of mine needed help with a… situation.” Sam doesn’t wanna talk about it all too much, things are starting to settle down bit by bit and while he’s still a little on edge about what’s happened, he can at least try and put a life together here. “Yeah, I’ve heard. Things have been rough.” He glances over at Lucas for a moment, watching him carefully. “Everything okay, Lucas?”
“Sounds complicated. If you ever need some more muscle you got my number. I love being, helpful.” He smirks a little as his sips his drink, thinking about how helpful he could be. Really it was just an excuse to beat some guys up. Damn sam picking up on things really quickly. He didn’t really mind, sometimes it helped when Lucus really needed to talk about shit. It was the talking bit that took a while for Lucus. “Sam. Ask me again when I’m drunk. This city’s turn to shit, if it didn’t sound serious I would have suggested you turn around and walk the other way man.”

“Well another version of me destroyed my entire race, so there’s that.” He played it off trying to make it sound as if it didn’t haunt him still. Ahura grinned, before tossing his head to the side. levitating off the ground he crossed his arms in response. “The old fashioned way of course.”
“Kind of badass.” He’s not really sure what to say, not being very adapted to feelings. He wasn’t the right guy of that sort of thing. If you needed someone to punch shit or kill some asshole, Lucus is right on board. He raises his eyebrow and nods his head, he figured the guy had some talent hidden under his sleeve. “Nice trick, now get down before you get down. What’s your name anyway kid?” He might not seem impressed, but inside he was amused.

After the stressful events of dealing with the threat to Andrew’s life and the culprit revealing themselves. Lucus finds himself at the bar a little more than normal, just to relive some of that fucking stress. Once he get’s to his usual seat he order’s a jack daniels. As he waits for the bartender to finish making his drink he hears a nearby voice that seemed familiar. He can’t put his finger on it but the voice sounded like someone he knew.
Turning in his bar stool he taps the male’s shoulder. “Do I know you?”

“Man, I just got an earful from my daughter’s mother screaming at me about how I need to stay away from her kid.” Floyd scoffed. “I’m gonna need more than just shots, but it’s a nice start.”
“Damn that’s some rough shit.” He grunts back. Lucus might not remember when he had his parents, but he always had an unmistakable connection to children. He cared for them so he couldn’t imagine what it was like to be forced away from his own. “Sounds like fun. I got the first round, my man.”
