This webinar discusses the choices available for those living with End Stage Kidney Disease (ESKD), specifically exploring living donation. The speakers discuss the different types of living donation including altruistic, paired exchange, and advanced/voucher, and the benefits of each type of donation. Advanced/Voucher Donation allows an individual to donate a kidney in order to provide a voucher for a kidney in the future for a family member. This webinar also discusses the barriers living donors face, and why they may be hesitant to donate, as well as solutions to these barriers. One such solution is legislation that protects living donors from increased premiums and protection of Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA). Finally, the speakers discuss resources and next steps for anyone considering living donation.
