Reason to Stay (Elder Faerie Cookie)

When you heard his voice, you stopped dead in your tracks, your foot just about to step into the forest.

“Are you…leaving our kingdom?”

You balled your hands into fists, breathing in and out sharply. You turned to him, you can practically feel the sense of sorrow and confusion in his eyes.

You answered his question with a nod of your head. You wanted to be far away from here, to protect the faeries. Protect Silverbell Cookie. Protect Mercury Cookie.

Protect him.

“I..was not expecting your departure to be so soon. Or at all for that matter. Is this from your fear of…them?”

He was spot on. If your old friends ended up turning to darkness, who’s to say you won’t end up like them? You wished to leave from here, your days as the Virtue of Compassion was over. You refuse to let your power consume you and bring harm to everyone you hold dear.

He grabbed your hand before you could even turn around. You asked for him to let you go, you didn’t want to hurt him if the worst happened...

Elder Faerie opened his wings as they wrapped around you both, it brought a sense of intimacy as you looked at him,

“You won’t hurt me, your love for other cookies and for all of Earthbread is strong. It is not the curse you believe it is. It’s something special, a blessing that you bring to others. The Silver Kingdom needs you. I…need you.”

“Let me be selfish this time with this one request I ask of you. Please know that with this, you won’t have to bear the weight of your responsibility alone.”

He had pulled out a small gift and opened it right in front of you.

“That you…could become this kingdom’s future…”

It was a golden ring adorned with leaves and petals, a piece of Moonstone situated at the top.

“In truth, I had wanted a king/queen by my side all this time. No cookie has ever made feel the you have. You’re everything I could have ever wanted and much more. I want you to be by my side for all of eternity. So please…will you be my one and only king/queen for me? Now and forever?”
