Tired of stories where the author worldbuilds a whole religion only to chicken out at the last moment by making the main character a skeptic. You mean to tell me that there’s all this richness in lore and culture, but you’ve trapped me with the one person in this society who doesn’t care about it? So bland. I could meet an agnostic easily enough by walking down the street, but your story is my one chance to hear the perspective of someone who follows whatever religion you’ve contrived. You made this whole world; convince me that your character really is from there.

The DA Transcripts Website is Live!!!!
It's alive! But it's rough. You'll likely notice that much of the site is full of links that go nowhere or lead to dead-ends. I haven't had the chance to reformat much to fit the site yet, but wanted to get it live and running!
Please be patient as I continue to work out the kinks in my webdev and html skills. In the meanwhile, I've made a very small, basically read-only discord where I will continue to post updates on the site's progress and you can contact me via submission form. Please use these to send QA feedback! These early stages are the most critical for me to fix problems such as accessibility or ease-of-use.
What does this mean for the future of the blogs?
They'll still be here, and I'll still update them! I'll still respond to asks and keep an eye on comments/replies, but the formatting will no longer be optimized for tumblr's layout, as it would be a lot of work to make both (and formatting is what has always taken the longest). I'll keep tumblr in the loop on site updates as well, and if you don't like discord, you can follow the DA Transcript bluesky for more frequent news!
Thank you all for your support!!!

And I do think they should’ve brought Sandal back in Veilguard, because if he made the trick lyrium dagger, handed it over, and said “Enchantment!” I wouldn’t even bat an eye or consider it a deus ex machina moment. Like yeah of course he could make a perfect copy, and it would be so similar that it could trick Solas. It’s Sandal.
The plot hole would be that his copy would absolutely be capable of rending the Veil.

Varric Tethras as a character is wild. He calls everyone by a nickname. He writes trashy romance novels. He’s a prolific liar. His family got them kicked out of the dwarf kingdom for rigging dwarven Wrestlemania matches. He has fingers in literally every crime ring in Kirkwall. He lives in a pub. He named his weapon after his absent girlfriend with whom he has a restraining order. He denies his involvement in keeping the wizard police away from his friend’s illegal magic Urgent Care. He’s the mom of the friend group. And he does this all while being four feet tall

Originally Varric wasn't supposed to voice all 2D cinematic scenes. They were voiced by the characters these scenes were about. But most likely because of the plot twist, this idea was abandoned. In the game, this only happens after the Prison of Regrets, starting with Elgar'nan in Minrathous. Although some of these lines remained in the text or audio.
After D'Meta's Crossing
Ghillan'nain: Much has changed. Elgar'nan: Our empire. Our legacy. Vanished, like breath in air. Elgar'nan: What they call the blight raised us once. It can restore what was lost. Ghillan'nain: The blight is faint. Locked away from this world by the Dread Wolf. Elgar'nan: We are the Firstborn. Nothing is beyond our reach. Elgar'nan: We shall work wonders again.
After meeting the First Warden in Minrathous.
Elgar'nan: The Dread Wolf's Veil stands fast, bestowing only an echo of the blight's past power. Ghillan'nain: We must pierce it. Elgar'nan: But the Dread Wolf's dagger is beyond our reach. Ghillan'nain: Its re-creation is not. Ghillan'nain: Crystalline. Fatal. We can forge a new instrument to rupture the Veil. Elgar'nan: And unleash the full blight.
After the Something Wrong quest. Luckily, the audio wasn't removed here and in the following dialogue.
Ghillan'nain: The darkspawn and the blight bend to our will. Ghillan'nain: Shaped. Nurtured. Improved. Elgar'nan: Under our command, they will be a relentless tide, preparing the world for our ascension. Ghillan'nain: The mortals will resist. Elgar'nan: Then they will fall.
After the Blood of Arlathan quest.
Elgar'nan: The elves were promised to my dragon. Elgar'nan: Noble blood, offered unto a noble beast, to quell the hunger of long repose. Elgar'nan: But this is merely a test of resolve. Mine. And yours. Elgar'nan: I accept the gift of your lives, and thank you for your generosity.

The Executors
So for reference everything new but non-Solassy that we learned about the Executors in Tevinter Nights is summarized in the third section here (warning for other TN spoilers at link). The new Solas-oriented Executor stuff is covered here (warning for other TN spoilers at link. Ctrl-f “Executor”). Today the thing I’ve been thinking/wondering most about is the new stuff we got on them, and what is their connection to Solas. I also went back through the pre-TN Executors stuff looking for anything of interest. I don’t have an answer but there’s some interesting things that stuck out to me. It gets tinfoily but hey ho that’s the fun of it isn’t it. I put the rest under a cut for length and further TN spoilers.

Since literally everybody hates Sera's writing throughout dai (fuck that lukas guy), how would you have written Sera and her interactions?
I would change up her whole anti-elf thing drastically. Dare I say that as someone who dealt with a lot of internal racism and self hate through school and came through it, I might have just a tad more knowledge on how to write a character in a similar struggle than Kristjanson? I think about what a missed opportunity her companion quest was, in that all it is is a war table mission and then a 5 minute discussion with a noble, that doesn’t actually tell you much about her, or result in much change with her at all. Look at in comparison Bull’s quest, Cole’s quest, Blackwall’s quest… I would want a new companion quest that is more DA:2-esque, in that it is companion driven and results in a “questioning beliefs” cut-scene afterwards. And maybe even have an extra line where she and a Lavellan could have a moment. It’s not realistic to expect her to change overnight, but just to see her more like what we see in Trespasser in the main game. Like–and I’m just pulling this out of thin air as an example–maybe she gets notice of a Red Jenny ‘hit’ on a noble who’s been making all kinds of trouble for a small business which happens to be run by elves. And when there you find out that this asshole has sent mercenaries to kill this family, and Sera has to choose between getting back at this noble or rushing to save the elves. Doing the later results in them saying they knew someone of their own kind would understand, to which Sera would sputter out that she’s not a real elf, and it had nothing to do with that. But they might say something about how of course she’s an elf, and that they shouldn’t have to be afraid of who they are. Which ends up getting Sera thinking and prompting that “questioning beliefs” scene afterwards. Super rough, I know, that’s just because I am throwing something at the wall just for the sake of throwing something, to show what I mean. And imagine how that would affect her scene after the Temple of Mythal?
I would also rewrite her romance quest so that it isn’t you going around listening to all you friends shit all over your relationship and earn disapproval. Either by just making it so they’re nicer, or have the Inquisitor go to Val Royeaux and try shopping for Sera all by herself in an amusing poke of fun at how much Sera would hate all the Orlesian extravagance?
I would change like, 90% of the Inquisitor’s dialogue to allow you to be at all comforting and understanding to her, instead of ridiculing her or acting like she doesn’t make sense, when it’s really not that hard to follow her once you get used to her manner of speech. Like when she’s freaking out after Haven is destroyed, give the Inquisitor the option to say something like “I’m scared too” or “It’s okay to be afraid of all this,” instead of calling her crazy, etc.
I would replace all her “jokes” (i.e. her transphobia) with actual humour/non-harmful quips, and scrap all the gratuitous genitalia related comments because that’s just weird and makes a lot of people uncomfortable for obvious reasons. And there’s just so many missed opportunities at aiming up with her jokes? Sera hates the rich, yet we don’t nearly hear humour in that.
Anyway, those are some things that come to mind!

in my heart of hearts the mythal in the crossroads is 6 feet tall, horned, decked out in armor fitting a self-appointed goddess borne from primordial war and a giant fuck-you dramatic feathered cape. it hurts to look at her directly. out of the corner of your eye you swear the shadow she casts is in the shape of a dragon. she's been stewing in resentment for so long the air just always smells like a wildfire and lightning strikes. ya'll remember the fucking puzzles in her temple? you wouldn't be able to just walk up to her and start talking to her, idc how long it's been since she's had petitioners.
if you want me to believe in the "like holding a piece of the sun" line you have to do better than the pajama-wearing default character creator template num 9 that we actually got.
