The next day both of you wake up not feeling murderous towards each other, which you count as a win. Abby still freaks out when she sees you, but at least she finds it in herself to smile at you. The morning goes better than yesterday's, and even better for Abby since her senses come back.
She is cooking eggs on the small stove that, like everything else in your hut, is powered by your magic. It's been the most stable you've felt in more than ten years; it reminded you of walking with a lit candle: once it was the fire that burned everything you touched, then one day the fire became weak, almost going out if you were not careful shielding it from the world; now, it was a torch that was showing you the way, steady and reliable as it can be.
Guess you both got something good out of this horrible situation.
Abby looks at the eggs and takes a sniff - and then who whole face lights up. She smiles brightly and looks at you, while you watch her carefully in case she's gone insane.
"My senses are back." She closes her eyes in concentration. "I can hear your heartbeat again."
You blink, a little weirded out: on one hand, it sounds creepy; on the other hand, it sounds romantic, which makes it even creepier.
"Did your elders teach you to not tell the person that you're in constant state of violating their privacy or is it normal for wolves?" You joke and Abby rolls her eyes, but she smiles instead of frowning.
"Of course I'm not going to tell someone they smell, or that they're pregnant. I was brought up properly."
"Wait." You blink. "You can tell if someone's pregnant by the smell?"
"I can tell if someone's scared, or sad, or happy by the smell." Abby looks at you like you severely underestimated her. You roll your eyes: you know that weres can smell emotions. "Telling the change in hormones is like- like it's written on their forehead. I know how to tune it out, but everything that is connected to sex is almost impossible to ignore. Shit, I can tell how close you're to your period and I don't even want to know."
"Wow. And I thought feeling everyone's energy was bad." You think for a moment, and then look up at Abby. "If your senses came back, I need to check how the healing is going."
"You told me it would take a week."
"From three days to a week. I can't be super sure, it's not like I resurrect people every week. I've done it, like, three times."
"How are you even able to do this? No one can." Abby squints her eyes suspiciously.
"I like loopholes." You shrug. You're not about to tell Abby your life story and what this knowledge cost you. "I don't have to blood bind because I can energy bind. And this is all I need to resurrect someone. Well, this, and a lot of fucking energy."
"You make it sound so easy."
"Yeah, well. You can smell my period and tell if I'm lonely, and you also make it sound easy."
Abby shrugs and then puts the breakfast on the plates. You eat in a pleasant silence and think about your plans for the day: you have a free day, no patients, no herb gathering (although you need to check the still room), no cooking or cleaning. You go through the list of possible activities to not die of boredom, and then you remember.
"I want to check out what the woods were so excited for yesterday. Are you up for a walk?"
"Do I have a choice?"
"Well, the choice is: stay inside and rot from boredom or go check out a rare baby animal."
"When you put it like that."
Abby lets you check how she is healing, and she can admit that after yesterday's tree hugging it's hard for her to be afraid of you, or your eyes, or tattoos. She is still curious about why you have them, but she can put two and two together. Right now, when your hands are so close to her face as you hold them above her head, she can see the runes - not that she can actually read them, but she knows what magical runes look like. You said that you needed energy to resurrect her, a lot of it, so when you got it, it probably activated your tattoos. Abby doesn't want to ask where you got the energy - for some reason she is not willing to harm this hesitant friendship you two formed.
"Okay. It looks good. I'd say by tomorrow morning the bond will cease."
"Great." Abby takes a moment. "Thanks."
"Look at us, from trying to kill each other to saying thanks. Team work, huh?"
"You not being a blood binder definitely helps." Abby looks into your eyes and she has her hearing back for sure, because she can hear your breath hitch and your eyes go big just for a moment. For just this millisecond you look young and flustered.
It's not so uncommon, especially for non-weres, to get flustered when there is a direct eye-contact, and weres are starers due to their need for hierarchy and dominance. So Abby doesn't even notice she stares you down out of her instincts - and then you lower your eyes and Abby can't help but smile. It means nothing to you, but for Abby it's a sign of submission, of acceptance, and honestly? It makes Abby feel good. (it also makes her protective of whoever submits to her, but she is not unpacking this right now).
"You using your words and not growling at me is also a bonus point."
Abby huffs and you chuckle in return.
"Make sure to put the shoes on, the ones that Coen gave you." You lower you voice like you're afraid someone will overhear. "The forest ground is like a prickly cold maze."
Abby doesn't question this: you may sound kooky, but after experiencing your connection to the forest first hand, you make perfect sense to Abby.
You don't pack anything with you, just put you warmer clothes on, and then both of you head out. Abby follows you, but she also listens closely to everything and sniffs around, making sure her senses function properly. When you leave the shielded territory, you crouch on the ground and put your hand into the soil, talking to the forest of whatever it's called. It should look cool, but Abby can't help her little snort.
"You're a fairy, not a witch." She teases you, but then a root trips her, clearly irritated with this remark. Abby only laughs harder. "You just proved my point."
"It wasn't me." You smirk. "I don't have control over the trees."
Abby looks at her feet, confused. The woods tripped her?
"How does this whole thing work? It didn't seem so protective of you when I tried to kill you."
"Eh, the woods have the mind of their own. They like to help, but they also like to be entertained. And they saved your life, so don't complain."
"You saved me." Abby corrects you, but she feels and sounds confused.
"Without their energy I wouldn't have been able to. I'll show you."
You change the path and Abby can smell a faint scent of comfreys as you go further. It's probably somewhere close to the place where she fought Isaac. As you walk, you stop and pick up a straw, clutching it in your hand.
"You see, energy binds don't have to be two-sided, like ours. I can do this."
And the straw in your hand turns into ash that crumbles on the ground.
"And you gain the energy of this straw. Got it." Abby murmurs. Your scent becomes stronger just for a moment before going back to its usual intensity. "So the forest gave you the energy. Um." Abby looks around, looks up, just in the general direction of trees. "Thank you?"
The warm wind blows in her face and you smile, pleased. Then you motion to follow you and Abby obeys. You walk a little more, and then Abby sees a patch of land fully covered in ash - her feet sink in it up to her ankle when she steps closer. It looks like the tree burnt down completely, but the fire didn't touch the rest of the woods. Just one, singular tree, fully gone.
You smell of regret, but it's not strong, and Abby finally connects all the dots.
"You took the whole tree." Abby states and you hum in agreement. "That's why you're glowing. Too much power?"
"No, not to much." You say quietly and crouch to touch the ashes. "I don't know what too much is, to be honest." You probably say it to yourself, but Abby hears you. She doesn't like the implications. "Well, this is where you died." You spread your arms out to the sides; Abby looks around the place and it makes her just a bit sick. The smell of ash is sharp and itchy, and Abby thinks she remembers it falling on her fur as she was choking on her blood.
"Yeah."
"Wanna stay and contemplate the meaning of life or can we go back to the baby animal?"
"We can go." Abby says, but her mind is elsewhere.
As Abby walks through the ashes of the dead tree, she doesn't contemplate the meaning of life, but rather the meaning of second chances. She got one, a damn big one - she came back from the other side. She should make the best of it, but the truth is - she doesn't feel different or changed. Well, no, she did change in these few days - she got friendly with you, after all - but it doesn't feel like enough. It doesn't feel like she did something good with her second chance. She guesses the death was not enough to terrify her.
You don't need super-senses to know that seeing her death site was not easy for Abby - she has been deep in her thoughts since you left the place. You can't say you know the feeling: you haven't died, and even if you did, there are only two people in the Lands who can revive others and one of them is you, and the other one would never revive a witch, so your chances on being brought back to life are zero. Having nothing to offer in terms of comfort, you leave Abby alone to work through her feelings.
You make your way to the west side of the forest and you feel the small, precious energy of the new life - it's something very small, not a cub or a deer, but it's strong and hell-bent on surviving. It makes you smile and you motion Abby to move slower. Abby snaps out of her thoughts and concentrates as she follows you.
In a few meters you see a bright ball of a baby bird. It's flapping its wings awkwardly, but it's already curious enough to leave its nest and come here to the ground to look for food. The fledgling doesn't notice you yet, so you carefully point at it for Abby.
"Is it-"
"A Firebird, yes." You smile. "It's small yet so we can look at it, but in a week it will grow and become so bright it will blind us. I haven't seen one in twenty years."
"I haven't seen one ever. Holy shit. A Firebird. A real Firebird. I thought people imagined them, like phoenixes." Abby whispers energetically, her eyes sparkle with excitement. "What do you know about them?"
"Not much, except what my elders told me. The legend says that they're pure fire and they appear to bring hope, usually in the spring. Maybe it appeared now after I took the tree to counter balance." You shrug as you watch the chick poke around with its beak. "They are extremely rare and one of a kind. This one doesn't have parents. All brave and bossy from the beginning."
"Can we get closer?" Abby asks, already moving. You chuckle.
"I can't, but you can, as a wolf. They let other animals come to them."
Abby doesn't hesitate - she changes into her wolf form and you take a step back when instead of a blonde giant that Abby is there's no less gigantic wolf that scared the shit out of you a few days ago. Abby doesn't growl at you this time, but she does push you with her giant butt to the side. Being so close to her lets you see how big she is - her head is somewhere around your chest when she stands, her paws are the size of your head, but she somehow manages to make minimal sound as she slowly walks to the chick: she makes herself known in order to not startle it, and the baby Firebird stops poking around. It looks at Abby and lets her come to it just to flap its wing in her big face. You snort loud enough for Abby to look at you, and you just shrug in response.
The chick plays with Abby for a bit, but then it loses interest in the giant wolf and flies away, living you alone with Abby. You feel longing - you can't come closer to such a creature, being the opposite of what it is, and seeing it for so short is not enough. Abby changes back just as fast and walks to you, also disappointed.
"Well that was anticlimactic." You chuckle.
"It's warm this close. And the eyes are just-" Abby takes a pause, definitely stopping herself from saying something*. "They glow."
"Nice glow or my creepy glow?"
"Nice glow." Abby says and there's a small tense pause, but it doesn't come from hostility. It's entirely different and you press it down hard.
You decide to change the subject before you both trap yourselves in an uncomfortable conversation about (your) eyes.
"What are you going to do now? Tomorrow morning you'll be good as new and free of the bound."
Abby stops when she hears your question. The truth is, she has no fucking idea. She didn't plan on anything that happened: not on rebelling against Isaac, not on giving Owen and Mel a chance to escape, and sure as hell not on dying and meeting the kooky witch in the kooky woods. It's not like she had an amazing relationship with Owen or Mel - it was civil at best - but she wasn't going to let Isaac hurt the only members of her family pack. She has lost enough already.
"O-okay. I guess you haven't thought of that." You interrupt her thoughts politely. "What happened to you, by the way?"
Abby looks at you for a moment, deciding if she can trust you. Then she thinks - to hell with that.
"My family pack was killed a few years ago, and the those who survived needed to join a new pack if we wanted to live peacefully. We joined one, but they were- are greedy, want a lot of territory for themselves. It was fine to fight other wolves, but a week ago our pack alpha decided to attack humans and take away their land."
"Dumb idea."
"My- what was left of my family pack thought so too. They're mates, expecting in a few months. Did Isaac care? Not so much. He wanted to kill them for betrayal when they protested and I couldn't let it happen. So I fought, let them escape. Ran here, met you, tried to kill you, died, you know the rest."
"Shit." You seem like you're about to squeeze Abby's shoulder, but you stop mid air. "That's awful. Do you want to find them? Do you know if they're safe?"
"I don't know if they'd want me. Plus, I don't want Isaac's mutts sniffing around and finding me. It might lead them to Owen."
"Do you share blood with any of them? Owen and his mate?"
Abby recoils out of habit when you mention blood, but you haven't hurt her this far, only helped, so Abby allows herself to listen to your idea.
"No. Just pack bond. Why?"
"Pack bond will do too, actually. Blood lets me track anyone anywhere, I think you know that. You make a deal, I'm practically omnipotent in the area you asked for, blood magic is this unlimited."
Abby hears her own gears turn.
"But you can energy bind."
"Yup. I can energy bind. Not right now, we're still bound and it will fuck it up, but tomorrow? Chop me some wood and I'll be able to sense them. You know, to give you peace or whatever. And when all of this dies down, you can go to them."
"Can I talk to them?"
"Do I look like one of these assholes who close their eyes and pretend to talk to ghosts?"
Abby rolls her eyes, but the deal is not in blood - it's enough for her.
"Why are you helping me?"
"Why not? Again, you're gonna chop wood for me. It's not like I'm doing it out of pureness of my heart."
Ridiculous, silly witch, Abby thinks as she listens to you saying this seriously - you can ask for undying loyalty, you can ask her to do your bidding for the next thirty years and instead you ask an alpha to take care of your hut. Abby would do it for fun.
You walk back to the hut, and Abby thinks about what she will do tomorrow, after the deal - when she will be completely free of you. It sounded like a damn dream the day before yesterday, but now, with her heart clean of her anger and her head not worrying about survival, Abby doesn't know where to go. No plan, no options, nothing. Literally a clean slate.
She decides to stay in the forest for the time being, while she figures it out - she will be in her wolf form so it will be easier to hunt and take care of herself, she can live in the bear den: she is healed and strong now, she can fight for territory, and that den is pretty nice. It will be harder without a pack - hell, Abby has never been without a pack, but it's her only option.
You go to meditate when you two come back home, and Abby starts working on the dinner - the forest is big and you've spent the whole day walking around, missing lunch but catching the still warm weather. As Abby chops meat, she sees you on the front porch, glowing like the candle in the evening hours, your tattoos showing how the energy circulates in you. It's weirdly mesmerising, like watching a wheel spin, and not creepy at all. Not anymore.
The next day you wake up and grin in relief - maybe you and Abby are now friendly and there's a weird tension between you, it's still nice to have your energy flow to yourself. There's also a sound of an axe hitting the wood outside. It seems Abby decided to not waste time.
You put your clothes on and go outside - it's something past midday, based on the sun. You find Abby and immediately regret coming here to check on her.
Listen, it's embarrassing - Abby can fucking smell you and what this shameless display of strength does to you. She is panting a little as she swings the axe, and she doesn't wear a damn shirt! Just her chest coverings! It's autumn! And oh she is sweating all right, the whole- Fuck, you now understand what does it for Caitlyn - if you had to watch Vi half-naked, sweating, in the forge, you'd also call her your "starlight".
And it's not a revelation for you - you know you like when people are strong as fuck and have their bodies to prove it with every dip and curve of their muscles. But you've never had the knowledge that some of them can fucking smell it on you! (you're going to give Sevika so much shit for this when she comes back)
So yeah. You want to turn around and bolt out of there, but you also want to stay and watch. Before you make up your mind, Abby puts the axe down and turns to face you. Holy shit.
"Decided to start on your end of the deal now?" You ask weakly, praying that Abby won't bring this up.
"You were sleeping. I got bored." Okay, the way Abby smirks definitely means she is enjoying embarrassing you. "I left the breakfast for you."
"Thanks." You mumble, trying not to look at Abby's shoulders. Or chest. Or abs. (Is it a v-line?) "Not a fucking word."
"Wasn't gonna say anything. Go inside, it's cold here."
Cold here my ass, you think as you go home. You eat your breakfast and try not to catch glances of Abby, but she is right there, where you usually meditate. You can't escape her. So you finish your breakfast fast and go to your still room to prepare everything for the ritual.
You isolate the still room from any other energy flows so it won't distract you, clear it out with the rosemary and then start drawing the runes you need - it's been a long time since you did it, so you have to look up the runes on your left thigh, where your mom weaved it when you were little and tend to wander off. Thankfully, there is no need for blood bind between the mother and the child, so your innocence was saved that day.
You draw them all over your stone table with the charged white charcoal and then call for Abby.
"Are you done with the wood?"
"Yeah. Unless you need more."
"Fuck off." You huff, but Abby smiles. "Sit down and give me your hand."
Abby does as she is told, and you put your other hand on the runes.
"Are we going to see them in a vision?"
"In a v- No. Where did you get this staff?" You say, offended. Vision? The fuck? "You will see nothing and pretty much feel nothing. Just think of them. I don't know, go on a nostalgia trip, relieve some memories."
Abby's playful mood disappears and instead the corners of her mouth turn down. She doesn't close her eyes, but they gloss over when she fully zones out, lost in her memories. The runes on the table glow and you follow the energy flow of the pack bond. There are several of them, but only four feel welcoming, and only two feel old. These bonds are not as welcoming, but they're strong - like the bond between family members who don't like each other, but will be there when the push comes to shove. That's when you know you found them.
"They're stable. Maybe not to their full strength, but there's no danger to their life. They seem to be on the move, and- oh." You feel the devastation, the grief, and for a second you're scared they lost the kid, but the woman has zero signs of loss. "They're grieving, but the child is fine."
"They probably found out I'm dead." Abby says quietly, and you feel how upset, worried, and given up she is. "It's better this way."
You say nothing and check the other two bonds. There's also grieving, but there's rage and fear as well - nothing good to bother to tell Abby. You're not kicking her when she is already down.
You finish the ritual and break the bond between the two of you. It's quiet and sad, and you want to comfort Abby.
This time, you place your hand on her shoulder.
"At least now you know you've died for something. They're as safe as they can be."
Abby doesn't say anything, but gently squeezes your fingers in return.
"Thank you. For everything."
"Ah, don't mention it."
Abby spends the next hour alone - she feels bittersweet. It's good, knowing that the last memory Owen and Mel will have of her is her doing the right thing, protecting them. But she feels hollow - as far as her favourite people knew, she was dead, permanently out of their lives, not giving them more reasons to worry about her. Abby was right - it's better this way. Maybe when she licks her wounds she will go and find them, but, if she is honest with herself - she's happy they're free of each other. Yeah, at some point she will tell them she is alive, when it'll be safe, but for now - for now she has nothing and no one. Bottom is a great place to start building, after all.
Abby wants space, she wants time. So she comes to say goodbye to you when you're finishing up cleaning the still room (you might not be creepy anymore, but your still room sure is).
"I'll be going." Abby tells you and you look up.
"Where?"
"Don't know yet."
You're silent for a moment, clearly thinking her words over.
"You can stay here, if you want. I'm not kicking you out." You seem a little vulnerable as you say it and Abby chuckles.
"Thanks, but, uh. I want to be by myself for now."
"Well. You know where to find me if you need anything." You offer her, and now Abby can't help but smile.
"Thank you. Take care."
"You too."
Abby leaves you hut, trying not to smell the sadness and pity that you reek of, and takes off deep into the woods, somewhere where no one will find her. Not even a one silly witch that she grew to like a little.

*What Abby didn't say: "It's warm this close. And the eyes are just- like yours."

LMAOO don’t apologize it’s like 11:29 pm for me I lost my glasses. Anywho !! Jerry/joel have a tag on ao3 but FUCK is it dry 💔
- last anon 🐦‍⬛
Yeah, it's bad out there for niche ships 😂 I think they'd have the whole "no homo bro" dynamic while being, you know, full homo full time making their daughters scream from frustration.

HOLY MOLY JERRY/JOEL ??? I FIND LIKE 2-3 PEOPLE EVERY FIVE YEARS
Ahaha sorry for the confusion, I meant it as a parallel between them for the revenge arcs, not as a pairing 😅

do you find Abby’s dad canonically an alpha ? He looks so much like an omega to me 😭💔
Initially I thought so too! But I've written him as an alpha because of their bond with Abby (granted, he is an alpha in my tlou!omega!Abby thoughts).
Abby looks up to Jerry, Jerry respects Abby and trusts her judgement so much he involves her in the discussion about Ellie, and the dynamic between them doesn't feel to me like an omega parent-alpha kid.
If Jerry was an omega, I think Abby would subconsciously try to take care of him and shift the role of the parent in their relationship, and being involved in the conversation about Ellie would look like omega!Jerry needs his alpha!daughter to make the decision and it just doesn't sit well with me (even if he absolutely doesn't need Abby's approval to make the decision). Their dynamic would be entirely different.
A/b/o in its core is binary and the way gender roles are assigned is, well, completely patriarchal, with omega parents being more maternal and alpha parents being more paternal (obviously people have a lot of fun flipping the roles and moulding a/b/o for their needs). In canon Abby doesn't have a mom, most of her close bonds that we see are with men (her dad, Owen, Manny, Lev), so it just made sense that a/b/o Abby would still have the paternal parent and she wouldn't be softened by a maternal figure.

Don't you write sub abby anymore?
Kinda? For now I just don't feel like writing smut - every time I try, I just type sentences like going through the motions and it feels too mechanical. And since sub!Abby is predominantly smut, I don't write it.

can you expand canon tlou alpha abby more? i’d love to know more about her
Ohhh I enjoyed exploring alpha!Abby's story so much, thank you for the req!
Okay so I wish I could do the bullet pointy hcs thing, but I can't, so there is me rewriting the whole tlou 2 plot for Abby's backstory (and I guess her and reader's future too).
Alpha!Abby grew up with an alpha parent (Jerry), and she looked up to him in terms of how to be a proper alpha: how to carry herself as someone safe to be around both in sense that she won't hurt her people and that she will protect her people. She was friends with Owen (although I debated if I wanted Owen to be an omega, but their personalities would clash) and she was dating Mel at the time of Jerry's death.
She was sweet and dorky, protective as shit, but otherwise quite popular among people. She was a person everyone could go to for help, just like her dad was there for anyone who needed him.
Her first rut happened when she was sixteen and she took it well, but her presence grew extremely strong: from a sweet adorable alpha to a walking challenge that everyone backed down from. This part is not something she enjoyed after working so hard to be seen as safe and comforting, but she still had her personality to compensate for it. Mel found it cute, but she didn't like that Abby could influence her so easy. Owen teased her about it to no end, but in the beginning they were constantly going from 1 to 100 in terms of being at each other's throats, because Abby couldn't control her impulses to get back at Owen. If before the rut her snarls were playful and passed as friendly, after her rut the same snarls she saw as friendly became an invitation to a fight, which Owen instinctively accepted. It took some work, but with Jerry's and Owen's help Abby learnt how to control her own alpha presence.
Then Jerry died, and with him died the sweet, adorable part of Abby. She grew bitter, always at edge and ready to snap at everyone at all times. She couldn't let go of her revenge, and no matter how hard Mel tried to get her soft, protective alpha back, Abby didn't bulge. So Mel left her.
Without an omega to worry about, Abby closed herself off completely and started having casual sex with a lot of omegas at the stadium: it helped her burn some of the tension and she didn't have to open up - it was a win-win. She always had company when she wanted it, and could just snarl at anyone so they'd leave her alone.
Abby became this ruthless killing machine because every target had the same face for her - Joel's face. It took time before she was able to see past it and getting to know people at WLF to return to her protector role. Thinking of herself as someone who kept people at the stadium safe made her more focused and Abby performed even better like this.
She took the news about Owen and Mel pretty well - it's been a long time since Abby had cared about Mel as her omega and not her friend, and Owen was good for her. He was able to keep his heart (and humanity) after Jerry's death, unlike Abby.
And this is where you come in.
A new transfer, an omega whose special skills were shooting and close combat. Unlike others, who found it ridiculous when omegas were military trained, Abby didn't care: she had omegas on patrol with her and you were not supposed to be an exception at learning how everything worked here. And then Abby got threatened with a knife to her throat, which only pissed her off.
She got her heart back the moment she saw you in heat: in pain, tears, begging her not to do anything to you, clutching your knife so you could protect yourself. It hit Abby hard: as she sat under your door for the three days of your heat, she had to reevaluate a lot about herself. Abby thought about how she insulted her father's legacy with her assholish behaviour that an omega didn't see a protector in her, but someone to be protected from.
It hurt enough for Abby to start trying to be better, to remember what her dad taught her. As she started courting you she took a few moves from Jerry's book and it was the first time in years when Abby thought of her dad without all-consuming rage and desire for revenge. It was disappointing, in a sense - Abby's whole life purpose was to revenge her dad and now she only thought of his legacy.
So in this AU Abby doesn't go after Joel and Ellie (I think if they ever met Abby and Ellie would just beat the shit out of each other and then get super drunk, beat each other again and part ways as not quite enemies not quite friends).
However she did meet Lev and Yara, which changed her just as it did in canon. She saved them both and went to Mel and Owen to help, which they did, and without Ellie to kill them, they convinced Abby to go and look for Fireflies instead of participating in meaningless manslaughter. You agreed, because seeing two kids caught in the crossfire was enough for your heart to bleed. You adopted the kids right away, Abby didn't even have to use her puppy eyes on you. And with the unhinged sharp-shooter of an omega on her side, Abby, Lev and Yara made it out from the Seraphites' island.
And then you all went to the Catalina island and lived happily ever after, while Abby found some comfort in seraphites' religion and was able to fully let go of her father and start a new, meaningful life with you and your little family.

you have no idea how happy i was when i saw that you posted. hope youre doing great and having a nice summer!! I love your alpha!abby works and hope to see more of it <33
Thank you so much! ❤️ I'm doing good! No job (it's summer and I'm a teacher), no studies (got my masters in January), no mental problems (haven't been medicated for a little over a half-year) 😂.
I adore alpha!Abby Idk she is so sweet and caring I just wanna live in her pocket. I'm trying to work on Friends pt3, but it's not going super well - I haven't been in a mood to write smut for months - but maybe I'll manage to. In the meantime, I still have the hurt/comfort blurb to work on, so there will be more of her. ✨

i love the way you write “the voice” in your a/b/o fics!! would you be open to expanding on various scenarios maybe in the format you did your scenting fic in? preferably omega!abby if you’re up to it! 🙏🙏🙏 so glad you’re back ive missed your writing <333
Hi! Thank you! ❤️
(I nerded out on the topic here↓)
I'll have to think about this one, because the alpha voice is not as versatile as scenting. For me and my a/b/o the alpha voice is used to take control over omegas and it's basically abuse if alphas use it for any reason except: a) the omega asked for it in certain situations b) the omega is in literal danger and c) it's clear to both parties that it wasn't done with malicious intent and was weak enough to disobey and not feel like shit.
I do have a difference in how serious it's treated since in modern!au it's only exceptable in the bedroom (exhibit a: in Friends the reader doesn't even know what alpha voice feels like since it's literally insane to think someone will use it on the omega outside the bed; exhibit b: alpha!reader didn't even think of using the voice for making omega!Abby do something, like taking emergency pills). But in tlou!alpha!Abby reader is well aware of it because alphas use it on omegas since they're trying to survive in apocalyptic world and it's a "necessary evil".
So I'll do some research on what other omegaverse enjoyers do with the alpha voice, and if I come with something, I'll write it.
Small note: I've thought about tlou!omega!Abby and boy she'd be bitter. I think before her dad dies she might've even enjoyed the alpha voice on her, the relaxing fog of it, but after Jerry's death she doesn't even feel pain when she disobeys an alpha. Idk, tlou!omega!Abby is the angriest omega of all.

can you write something like alpha!abby that gets a little too alpha with omega reader and it pisses them off
Okay so in my Abbyland alpha!Abby would never get too alpha with her omega because this girl is Whipped and drinks her respect omega juice. However, tlou!Abby will definitely be an anxious asshole of an alpha and will act like this early in your relationship, so here it is.
This the same omega!reader x alpha!abby from this story.
-/-/-/-/-/-/-/-
It's hard, being an omega who goes on patrols in WLF. It's even harder when you've got an alpha.
Abby has learnt her lesson the first time she tried to get bossy with you (the knife at her throat was pretty convincing), but that time she was just so fucking full of herself it was easy to resort to violence.
Now, Abby is a little scared of you; or, more precisely, she is scared of losing you over stupid alpha posturing. She knows you won't hesitate to put her in her place, but she doesn't want to be this kind of alpha to you. She has seen you at your most vulnerable, she saw your fear. She doesn't want this.
However.
There's one thing Abby literally couldn't help - she doesn't even notice it, how it happens, but she gets extremely overprotective.
You come back from the briefing and start packing, and Abby watches you until you notice her.
"Isaac got a mission for me. It's for three days." You tell her.
"Alone?"
"No, two new alphas are also coming. I haven't learnt their names yet." You say offhandedly, like it's not a big deal.
But Abby's brain short-circuits right after "two new alphas". She doesn't even register as her eyes turn red, her scent gets suffocating and the she says the worst possible thing in the worst possible way - she uses her voice.
"You're not going."
You feel awful the moment Abby says it, and you take a second to breathe through it. Alpha voice is painful to disobey, her presence and scent are pressing you into the ground and something in you really wants to cry and start apologising, but you've been through too much shit to bend over for an alpha. "Come again?" You growl menacingly, your body going into a fighting state. You disobey an alpha? Get ready for a fight. "You are. Not. Going. Three day mission with two other alphas? I don't fucking think so." Abby stands up and you know she is going to get in your face, all puffed up. She is staring you down like you're a naughty child and this is a last straw.
"What the fuck do you think you're doing?" You growl in her face. "I'm not your goddamn property."
"I'm protecting you!" Abby growls and keeps getting in your space, which backfires immediately.
"I don't need your protection." You hiss.
The time itself stops.
Abby freezes like you've slapped her. The sudden silence is heavy and you know you shouldn't have said that. But Abby shouldn't have used her voice on you.
At least you shocked Abby enough so she stops suffocating you with her scent and presence, and you take a breath with you full chest as your headache subsides.
Abby watches you as you recover from disobeying her and she feels cold all over. She did this. Your words hurt, sure, but she did this: she made her omega suffer, she caused you literal pain. This is the opposite of protection.
"I'm so-" Abby starts saying, but you look at her, tired but sharp, and she shuts her mouth.
"I'm going. We'll talk when I come back." You tell her as you put a few other things in your backpack. "Otherwise I'll do something I regret."
You say it to yourself, but Abby hears it.
She fucked up. She fucked up big fucking time.
While you're away on the mission, Abby drives herself crazy: she is so worried for you she can't eat or sleep. She is worried that if everything goes to shit, the last thing she did was using her voice on you. She is worried that you're alone with two alphas and how much do you have in you to stand up to them. She's worried that everything is fine but the moment you see her you will dump her because she got so scared she turned into a controlling asshole.
You come back, just a few bruises on you and a jammed gun that gives Abby a heart attack (you were out there with a jammed gun? You had nothing to protect yourself with?). It should be a pretty serious damage if you couldn't fix it yourself, and it scares Abby even more. She knows you're insanely good with firearms and this is the last thing that could happen to you.
And of course it happened when you were on a mission without her.
Abby meets you as an anxious mess who barely slept and ate for three days and used her growling as the only means of communication. You know this whole situation was hard on her: it's easier for you, since omegas don't get this protective and you learnt to survive fully on your own, but Abby is the way she is because she is protective. She is commanding, ruthless and relentless because she wants to keep everyone safe. She wants to keep you safe - except she chose the worst way of showing it.
And you've calmed down: three days away with two young alphas who were quite sweet and annoying with their protective behaviours reminded you so much of Abby's endearing ridiculousness.
Abby follows you like a puppy, her nostrils flaring because she tries to catch your mood, and you let her have it: you smell safe and happy and a little annoyed so she knows she is still in trouble, but it's enough to relax her. She still absolutely stinks of anxiety and guilt, but at least it's not so sharp anymore.
"Come on, I'll shower and we will talk." You tell Abby and she nods.
"Can I hold your hand?" She asks nervously, like she fully expects you to reject her, like she knows she is on thin ice.
Still, you take her hand and let your fingers interlock. Abby relaxes like she was holding her breath this whole time.
"I'm still mad." You tell her and Abby lowers her head in shame. It's cute. "But we'll be fine."
"Thanks."
When you come back from the shower Abby is waiting for you with a cup of hot tea and a pastry she probably stole from the kitchens because she does use her status for little things. You sit next to her while she watches you, guilty and hopeful you'll except her offerings. You see, endearing ridiculous alpha behaviour.
"You use your voice on me one more time like this I swear to god I'll put a bullet in your knee just on principle." You start, but there's some lightness in your tone that makes Abby smile a little. "I know you got all protective and shit, but you can't command me. Unless I ask you to."
"I'm sorry. I'm sorry I hurt you like this." Abby says with her whole heart and fuck, you just want to hug the shit out of her and make this awful desperate smell go away. "I learnt how to control it, but I got so scared it just- I didn't even notice I was doing it."
"Good thing I'm a stubborn motherfucker who can disobey anyone."
And Abby knows it's true: if you haven't been able to disobey her and get pissed off, you'd have started crying from pain and apologising and this would have been so much more heart-breaking.
"I'm sorry I said I don't need your protection." You tell Abby, because you know this hurt her too. "Well, yeah, I don't actually need it, but I want it. I love when you take care of me." You nod at the cup and the pastry.
"Thanks. I needed to hear this." Abby smiles and you smile back.
"You wanna go stick your nose in my neck and cuddle until your anxiety goes away?"
Abby nods.
You spend the day cuddling and discussing your mission and what went wrong and why, but Abby calms down enough to actually fall asleep for the first time in three days, nose right in your scent glands while you caress her back, and you know you two will be okay.
And if Abby does use her voice again. Well, you are insanely good with guns.

coming back to the x reader tag means now I get all kinds of x reader recommendations. and although I don't mind seeing fics with Abby/Ellie/Arcane women, I see what my gay eyes should never see: straight x reader. Literally had to double take three seconds ago when I saw a title in my native language and it was a Bucky Barnes fic.
In my time we shipped Bucky with Steve like God intended and I had to see god awful translations in fics
Now not only the translations are correct, they're also in a straight fic.

Omgea abby on a feral nesting spree and getting really sad when she realizes theres no baby she can put in it—smut and fluff please 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Honestly I didn't get the appeal of nesting until I wrote this one, but after a small research into fellow a/b/o connoisseurs' opinions and getting into Abby's head, I must admit - nesting is pretty cool.
It's more of a hurt/comfort than fluff, sorry, I love some suffering.
female alpha!reader x omega!abby
Tags: a/b/o universe (female alphas have dicks), modern AU, hurt/comfort, nesting, there's some smut. around 2k words.

That pregnancy scare really threw both of you off: of course you had the talk about your future, if you even wanted children, about at what age both of you want children and the fact that two of you were stupid enough to not take goddamn contraceptives. You didn't want to put Abby through this stress, so you started taking the meds instead, and then it all seemed normal.
Then Abby came back home with a new soft blanket.
"Touch it, it's so soft." She told you excitingly and you touched the blanket. It was like touching clouds.
"Wow, where did you get it? Fuck, I wanna smother my face in it."
Abby preened at your praise and her scent was so full of love you wanted to rub the new blanket on her scent glands and then wear it as your pyjamas.
"It's synthetic wool." Abby said and let you wrap yourself in it.
This blanket became a part of your bed.
Then Abby came home with another blanket, but now it was crocheted and you praised the pattern. Then it was a set of pillows that had a great neck support and you couldn't shut up about it for three days. The space on your bed was disappearing at alarming rate, Abby looked very pleased, and that's when it hit you.
Nesting was not something Abby did: she felt safe in your home, so there was no need of a blanket fort of the ultimate comfort, and she told you that before you she was too busy and stressed to even think of it. ("What the purpose of the nest if I'm studying 20 hours a day?" she told you, and you felt so fucking sad for her.)
So now, suddenly your girlfriend was going all out on dragging every soft thing into your bed and you unintentionally praised all of them. She didn't smell stressed, or sad, she was pleased, so you had no idea what was happening.
You didn't want to bother Abby or god forbid embarrassing her (that girl believed in such bullshit as "I'm being omega wrong"), but for your own sanity you had to talk to someone about it.
The choice was: Lev or Ellie, and you didn't want to ask Abby's baby brother about her nesting habits. So Ellie it was.
Obviously, she laughed at your distress.
"Look at this." You showed her the picture of your bedroom. "This is a DIY market now."
"Holy shit." Ellie took in the whole picture. "She wants your babies bad."
You blinked.
"Uh."
"She is not pregnant, is she? I swear to god, if she drops out-"
"No! Fuck you, I won't baby trap her or something. No, but we had a- we synced. And we were not on birth control. Emergency pills, yada-yada, but it scared the shit out of me."
"How- She is a med student!"
"No the point, Ellie. Do you think it's like- aftermath? Her hormones still being in the mommy mode?"
"Eh, probably. Look, you told me she feels safe with you, and as far as I know, omegas do it for two reasons: they want to feel safe or they feel so safe they suddenly want to have a baby."
You remembered Abby's stubborn face when she said she won't take the pills.
"No."
Abby who got what she wanted no matter what.
"No."
"Yup." Ellie smiled like a little shit. "Wanna be a mommy?"
You threw her a truly nasty glare.
You braced yourself for the talk that would probably upset Abby, and you hated it. You hated that you couldn't give your girl what she wanted, even if it was the craziest fucking idea ever, but your caveman instincts were yelling at you like a group of pissed off aunties.
You two were lying in the bed - nest, now - and Abby was nuzzling your neck, relaxed and comfortable. You rubbed your hand over her back and the other over the new blanket.
"I really like what you've done to our bed." You said, because it was true: you both slept like - ha-ha - babies now.
"Thank you." Abby purred playfully and you nipped her nose.
"It's a beautiful nest."
Abby tensed for a second, definitely embarrassed she called the nest nest, but she still smelled pleased.
"I'm happy you like it."
"Why have you started building it?"
"Don't know. You're just so safe and so good to me, and you take care of me when I'm being an idiot, so I guess I wanted us to have a space like this. Smelling of us, soft and comfortable. I mean, I know we talked about it, but.."
Abby paused and now she smelled a little upset, but not the sour kind - the faint lavender of regret, of I'll never get what I want.
"Baby?" You nudged her gently.
"I want us to be a family one day. And I know it's stupid to try and have a baby now, it's literally our last year of uni, but then I'll have residency and it'll be so stressful- and-"
Abby sniffled and your heart sank.
"Come here." You hugged Abby tightly and rubbed your cheek over hers to bring some comfort. "Baby, I want us to be a family too. We are one, just- you know. Without a little bossy creature screaming its lungs out at us. We will work it out, okay? I will be happy to be a stay-at-home mom while my badass doctor wife saves lives. It will take a little longer for us, but we will make it work."
"You can't just bombard me with the mom and wife, you asshole." Abby laughed through her tears.
"Well duh, if we're getting you pregnant we're definitely getting married first. I'm an honest woman."
"This is ridiculous." Abby laughed louder now. "I get all hormonal, have a baby fever and you go all in, huh? Marriage, being a stay-at-home mom? I don't know who is fucking crazier."
You laughed too and poked her ribs in revenge.
"I don't know what you mean because this is a solid plan. We graduate, we work, we have some sort of financial stability, we get married and bam! You're pregnant. The road's longer, but we get there."
"Okay, yeah, you're the one who is crazier."
"I'll take your last name and I'll draw hearts around it every time I'll have to sign something."
"I hate you." Abby giggled and kissed you.
The kiss was playful at first, but then Abby traced her fingers down your neck and suddenly all the laughter stopped.
"Baby?" Abby murmured.
"M?"
"We should make love. Make this nest ours completely."
Oh holy shit.
"Yeah. Yeah, we should."
You kept kissing and grinding against each other until the clothes became too hot to wear, so you slowly took off each other's pyjamas (which was just two t-shirts you stole from each other). Everything was soft and smelled of your combined scent, and you just relaxed under Abby as she kissed your neck, blissed out and high on- well, on everything. On Abby, on the scent, on the nest, on the fucking future plans and the hearts around your signature.
"What do you want?" You asked her, and Abby sat up.
"I wanna ride you."
You nodded and kissed Abby again, sitting up so you two would stay close. Abby didn't let you do anything: she slicked her hand and slowly stroked your cock, making you sigh and grunt while he smiled at you, her eyes sparkling gold.
"Let me take care of you for once, sweetheart." Abby said, her voice a sweet, torturous trickle. "I'm so happy with you. I'm the luckiest omega to ever walk this Earth."
"Baby- fuck. Me too. Fuck, I wanted you the day I met you." And you didn't have to say more, Abby new what you meant: you wanted her soul, her love, her presence in your life.
Abby chuckled and slowly sank down on your cock until she was fully seated. She bit her lip and you stopped breathing, enveloped in her, so overwhelmed you were shaking. It felt better than any heat sex, any sync sex, and seeing Abby, her blush that went all the way to her big shoulders, her undone bun and open mouth was like seeing some blessed deity.
"I love you so fucking much." You whimpered and Abby giggled before rolling her hips and making you both moan. "Shit. Keep going, baby."
Abby just laughed at your desperation and set a slow, sensual pace, that got you both breathing heavily, watching each other obsessively. You roamed your hand all over her, lips glued to her skin, moving smoothly from her jaw, to her neck, to her nipples and all the way back so you could kiss her. Abby smiled into your mouth and put her hand on your shoulders for leverage, but you held her tightly, bringing her as close as possible before thrusting up into her.
Abby wanted to say something, but your quiet growl only made her giggle.
"I wanted take care of you."
"You did." You kissed her sweetly. "You made this beautiful nest for us. Now it's my turn."
When you mentioned the nest, Abby whined so lovely you couldn't help but thrust into her harder and just a bit faster until Abby turned into a pretty, whiny mess you loved so much. She clang to you, nuzzling into your neck, vulnerable and sweet, and you started to lose it.
"Baby, I'm gonna-"
"Tell me." Abby whimpered. "Tell me to cum, come on."
Your eyes sparked red, you grabbed Abby by her hair so she would look into your eyes and you growled at her, using your voice.
"Cum."
Abby shook, her eyes rolling as she mewled and whimpered, her thighs trembling, her pussy contracting, the intense smell of lust filling up your nose enough to make you growl and thrust into her for the last time.
"Love you, good omega, my lovely girl." You kept growling as her cunt squeezed every drop out of your cock, mixing up your releases as they spilled out of her right onto your bed.
Abby sank into you, tired but smelling so happy you couldn't help but leave a ton of butterfly kisses on her face.
"Love you too. You owe me a baby."
"Deal." You chuckled into Abby's hair. "You owe me a marriage."
"Deal."

“You aren’t owed interaction”
Yeah, you know, you’re right. We aren’t owed interaction. We aren’t owed a damn thing.
BUT
I hope you keep that same energy when your fav doesn’t update that story that you just “love”. When that next chapter never comes and you are left wondering where the story was going to go.
You don’t owe us likes, comments or reblogs; but in retrospect, you aren’t owed our time. Our effort. You are not owed the frustrations and tears that sometimes go into making a story that is put out there for free.
Everyone wants acknowledgment, even you. Treat writers/creators/artists how you would want to be treated if you were doing the same thing. Published authors get paid, their acknowledgement comes in the form of contracts, money, book deals. We do this for free.
You don’t owe us anything, but we also owe you nothing. Keep that in mind.

I just started reading moon peppers today and seeing your note about coming back after a year made me do a double take 😂 it’s so good too! I want to lay in a bog now
Ahahahah yeah, it's been a year and two months 😂 I love lying in the forest! If you have an opportunity to do it, do it! Probably not as good as lying in the bog though... (and probably the forest won't make you a resident witch, which is also a pity)
(also: tree hugging)
