jay picked you up from your house and took you to the restaurant, conversation flowed easily with jay. you didn’t need to force it, he talked just enough, not too much and not too little and quickly picked up on social cues.

he’s insanely attractive and not only that he has a great personality not to mention that he has amazing fashion sense. but no matter how hard you tried you simply couldn’t imagine yourself with him.

you both got along well and it wasn’t awkward, not even on your first date but for some reason you couldn’t push away the feeling of wishing it was sunoo sitting across from you.

you stayed up so many nights simply trying to convince yourself and your friends that you did not have feelings for your bestfriend, that you were only feeling this way because you found out he was your admirer.

but you also couldn’t seem to imagine yourself with anyone but him. you saw many cute guys in your classes and halls but none of them flooded your thoughts as much as sunoo does. not even close.

so you made the decision, with the help of sooyun, to tell jay that you didn’t think things would work. not only because of your “feelings” for sunoo but also because you were simply too different. you agreed on some things but you quickly realized that it probably wouldn’t work, even if you never found out about sunoo. on the first date you found out that he wants to travel for college and you want to stay in korea, you also wouldn’t like to do long distance since they major your planning to take would simply take up too much of your time to have a long distance partner. there was plenty of other things that you didn’t have in common but that was one example

so once you settled into the restaurant, jay across from you with a pensive face as he browsed the menu.

“jay”

you both said in unison, “oh uh, sorry you can go first” you said with a light laugh, “well,” he cleared his throat before sitting straight in his chair, “i think your wonderful, i mean it, your stunning and you have an amazing personality and i’ve really enjoyed all of our dates but,” he paused to read your expression

but you only urged him to continue, “but i don’t think we would work in a relationship, we are too different and want completely different things in life and for our future. i want someone i can relate to and have similar interests as me and we don’t have many, so while i really enjoy this i don’t think i can continue seeing you” your face dropped a little, jay noticed of course. you didn’t cover it as well as you thought you did.

“i didnt mean like completely stop!” he rushes to say and groans before continuing, “i was gonna add that i want to continue this but as friends, more hangouts than dates. i’m sorry for the confusion, and i’m sorry if you wanted more than that” you sighed in relief

you smiled at him and giggled a little, “that’s funny,” he looked at you confused, “i was gonna say something along the same lines, what i mean is i feel the same way. i’m glad we both realized” it was his turn to sigh in relief

“yeah, anyways is that really the only reason” he raised a brow in a teasing way

“oh shut up” you rolled your eyes but looked at him and realized he was being for real

“well my bestfriend, i recently found out that he likes me and i think i may be catching feelings” you sheepishly admitted.

soon after dinner was finished and you helped wash up, sunoo plopped down on the couch with the remote in his hand. “hey sunoo,” you called, earning a “yeah?” from him

“can i use your laptop? i need to finish an assignment. it’s due tonight” you peeked from around the corner into the living room where he was laying on the couch, he nodded and you walked up the stairs and into the familiar room and searched for the laptop.

it was on his desk and just barely shut, you sat down in his desk chair and opened the laptop. it wasn’t shut down properly so whatever he was on before turned back on, it was a notes app.
