Introduction

I am currently running postgres in a docker container for development purposes. I am able to connect to the container using psql from my mac by doing psql -h localhost -U someuser then typing the password. The password is the same as the username and it's a really simple password. This is a step-by-step guide to install PostgreSQL on a Mac OS machine. The first thing to do is install Homebrew if you haven’t done so already. Homebrew site has a simple command that you have to paste in your terminal to do so. Make sure to accept the command line developer tools installation if prompted.

Next, run brew install postgres to install Postgres. It might take a little while to compile and install. After compilation is done, it’ll give you some instructions to finish setting it up.

The database will be initialized during installation, so there isn’t a need to run initdb to finish installation of Postgres via Homebrew. Near the end of the installation instructions you should see mention of the command brew services.

After trying out all the so called top n64 emulators for the mac, (sixtyforce) I was never able to play Goldeneye with 100% compatibility like I could do on Windows with Project64. That is until now. When I discovered Mupen64plus I was surprised to know that Goldeneye emulated flawlessly along with many other games. Some games that I could never get to work on PJ64 on windows ran on Mupen64plus without a problem.

1. Download the latest mupen64plus bundle for the mac at http://code.google.com/p/mupen64plus/downloads/list The link that reads mupen64plus-bundle-osx-X.XX.X.zip is the one.

2. Extract the files into your Applications folder or elsewhere. There are two folders , if you are using a 64bit version of OSX (Snow Leopard) double click on x86_64 if not double click on the x86_32 folder.

3. Drag your game roms into this folder.

4. Use terminal and cd to the folder you were working in.

5. Type ./run_glide.sh nameofrom.z64 (you must be in the x86_64 or 32 folder we were working in). The emulator will start. You can also use the arach and rice plugins by typing ./run_rice.sh or ./run_arach instead of ./run_glide. Switch plugins if you are seeing emulation problems with a game. Some games work better with different plugins.

Dr. Kashinath Ghanekar (14 August 1930 - 2 March 1986(1)(2)) was a popular stage actor and dental surgeon.(1)

Ghanekar was born at Chiplun and completed schooling there itself.

Personal life(edit)

He married twice. He was married to Irawati M. Bhide,(3) a gynaecologist and obstetrician.(4) His first marriage was childless and ended in divorce. He subsequently married a much younger Kanchan, the daughter of Marathi actress Sulochana Latkar. This marriage was in every way harmonious. After his death, Kanchan penned a biography titled 'Nath Ha Maza' meaning 'such was my husband.'(5)

Career(edit)

Kashinath was the first superstar of the Marathi stage with a lot of glamour, and he was the highest paid star from the years 1960 to 1980.(6) He appeared in Marathi films(7) in the 1960s. In addition to Marathi stage and movies, he appeared in Hindi movies such as Abhilasha opposite Nanda and Dadi Maa where he played the role of the son of Ashok Kumar and Bina Rai.

The role that made him a popular actor was that of Sambhaji in the play 'Raigadala Jevha Jaag Yete' (When Raigad awakens) written by the play writer, Vasant Kanetkar. Most notable character ever played by him was 'Lalya' in the play Ashroonchi Zhali Phule. Some of the other noted plays he acted in are - Ithe Oshalala Mrutyu, Garambicha Bapu, Anandi Gopal, Shitu, Tujhe Aahe Tujpashi, Sundar Mi Honar, Madhumanjiri etc.(8)

The film Madhuchandra (in 1968) made Ghanekar, a noted stage actor, a major Marathi film star.(9)

Death(edit)

Dr. Kashinath Ghanekar died due to a heart attack during one of the tours of his plays, at his hotel room at Amravati.
