Lobo received word that the King would be away. It appeared all of Medes’ royal court were escaping their duties for one reason or another. He hoped Isaac had not gone to drag young Prince Sayrn back to the Kingdom. Much preferring to retrieve the boy himself with a more delicate hand than the King was likely to use. For now he would focus on his role in this situation. Medes would never fall because each member of the royal court was there to carry the weight of another in their absence. So if the King felt the need to be away then those left would ensure not a moment of weakness was found in the link of their chain.
He sought out the presence of their Queen, the spirits guiding him towards the royal quarters shared by the royal pair. Giving the wood a knock before he eased his head between the divide of the opening. “My Queen, may I have a word?”

Lobo was led to the prince’s quarters but he was sadly nowhere to be found. After he waited for a bit the wanderer became a little restless and decided he would take this time to explore. He left a feather on the prince’s pillow, no note. However it was enchanted so the moment the prince touched it a bird of spectral green energy would appear and lead him to Lobo. Knowing the curious prince a little he had a feeling the boy would follow the creation with his sense for adventure.
Finding his way off royal ground the mage went deeper into the touch of nature. It was where he felt most at ease, especially in a Kingdom foreign to him. Closing his eyes he opened his ears for the sounds around him. There were waves of running water close by, leading the mage to follow to the source. Once at the edge of the mountain river Lobo removed most of his clothing saving his pants and decided to take a dip through the chilled waters while he waited for the pup.

medesian-royalty‌:
One of his father’s most trusted confidantes in the country had returned to Medes. Probably one of the very few men that Jabari had the utmost respect outside of his father, mainly because Lobo had been there for as long as he could remember, to help raise him and his brothers. “Okay, I won’t push my luck with you.” Standing up from the throne, not only was he a powerful mage, the guy was massive. Stepping from the throne, he patted the other on his shoulder. “Welcome back, old friend. What kept you away for so long?” His way of expressing that he missed Lobo, somewhat.
Tumblr media
Lobo’s tone was not scolding in any way. To be fair he was used to the little lion heart prince testing the limits of his power. Even when they overstepped. Jabari would make a good King one day although Lobo knew his rule would be different than his father’s. But when the time came such a heart might be needed for the coming years when peace was not as well forged as the present. Not caring how old the boy or any of the princes were Lobo greeted him the same, a kiss on the crown of his head. “I had personal matters to attend to...” Something anyone standing in the royal family would know that personal matters were never anything he would share further than that. “...but I am here now. Tell me has there been anything I need to be aware of in my absence? Have you put any heads on pikes I need to clean up?” He smirked.

It wasn’t a voice that Tobin recognized, so he began to tense up, and his horse seemed to get on guard too. The man was massive, and clearly not from around Bergia, but he knew Dane. That had to mean he was safe, right?
Pushing himself from the ground and placing his book on Flurry’s saddle, he shifted awkwardly on his feet. “You are looking for my brother?” he asked, tilting his head to one side. “If you don’t mind me asking, what is your business with him?” It probably wasn’t any of his business, but he also didn’t want to lead some crazy man to his beloved older brother. “Are my parents aware that you’re here?”
Tumblr media
Ah, one of the princes. It would be his luck he would encounter royal blood without the use of his manners. What little he did have. He could tell the boy was a little cautious, understandable. Before he announced himself properly Lobo reached a hand out to the horse. Silent as he rested his fingers against the head and calmed the animal without a word.
“Forgive me, your highness. I was not aware to whom I was speaking to.” Once the steed was settled Lobo turned to the prince and bowed his head a bit, “I am Lobo Ormond, Royal Advisor to King Isaac of Medes. I am here because your brother and I...” How to put this delicately. “...we met during the festival and enjoyed each others company before the storm came. I have come just for a visit and see how he fared after the ordeal before I return home.I would rather not trouble your parents with such.”

sayuxmajesty‌:
“For once, I thought someone would’ve been selfish enough to protect me from this world instead of forcing me to pick up the pieces.” Sayuja felt his arms tighten and the veins slowly thump under the surface as blood flowed faster and his heart beats harder. It felt like the world was spiraling and every ounce of frustration flowed through him at once. Adrenaline sped as he felt impulse take him and he could’ve sworn every ounce of strength and strain left him at once. He felt as if he’d surely knock the mage off of his feet. His eyes stared into the crease of his pecs as if he’d burn a hole in his chest while caving his breastbone. Ribs collapsed. But the King stood, trembling with so much conviction. His brows vexed as he began to feel the wind take a gentle breeze and the rustle of high grass draw. He couldn’t speak for his own tongue would not let him and he’d subconsciously realize he was being a fool. Both fists knocked into his chest but it was barely any fight left. His face buried between. Two distant men, phantoms of the identity they’d once share. But for what? What strange fate led them here today.
“You will never understand,” Sayu spoke up. He didn’t know what more to ask of him. How could he remain so angry? How could he be so destructive? It just didn’t complete him and it was a strange place to stand. He missed the man. Even after all these years. He felt a bit of sadness return but it was more consumptive. It rolled through him, violently, and the trembling concentrated in his gut. Sobbing would’ve been next but he controlled it. He swallowed that bit of emotion. “Why didn’t you just–I can’t.” He stepped back and began to walk down the path. “I can’t do this. I just can’t.” Sayu paused. “Are you here to hurt me, again?”
Tumblr media
The blow to his chest did not burn with the same heat as the King’s words. Something doused his fire in that moment or maybe he had drained himself of any strength he had. Lobo wasn’t sure if that fact brought him any relief. This was all new territory for him. Confronting ghost of his past in such a way. His talk with Rene left him vulnerable but this encounter could easily brake him. If he had not learned to steel his emotions while he resided inside the academy he would be lost to them. Wanting to crumble and beg for forgiveness when he knew the truth of the matter. This was the plan of the Gods. His place was to be at the side of King Isaac. All his wandering through the years led him to his role as Royal Advisor. A title that was still just words to him but meant he found his purpose. At least for now. But he had other points in his life that made it all worth living. That would forever burn in his heart above all else, like his time with young Sayu. It just was not enough to quiet the spirits into rest without tugging himself away again. Letting his arms fall to his side he wished he could say the right words in that moment. That his wisdom of the ages held some comfort to the wounded King. But there was nothing he could say that would heal this wound even with all his magic at hand.
Lobo let the steel of his words dull, even allowed the armor around his being to crack. It was a moment he did not allow for many but he could not allow Sayu to leave without hearing something of hidden truth. “I could never hurt you Sayu...not intentionally. All I have ever wanted was for your happiness. But our love made you blind to the fact that your place was no more at my side than mines was at yours. We have a greater pur...” He paused because he did not need to repeat those words again. they had no power the first time he said it and they would not solve anything now. “...I am sorry. Sorry that you were hurt by my decision. And I hope that one day you will see I...would rather take you pain away...that I would sacrifice my magic if it meant this wound would heal...but I can not take away my power no easier than you can remove your crown.” it was his turn to let his head fall heavy with feeling he long sense buried beneath time and fate. “If you wish for me to leave here and never return to Casther I will do so. I do not want to cause you any further harm with my presence.”

princesstobin‌:
It was a rare day that Tobin was allowed out of the castle for an extended period of time. The weather was still very cold, but it wasn’t so cold that people were concerned for the weakest of the Pryor boys. He’d been largely cooped up since the incident at Medes, despite having not been there himself, and was happy to get some time to himself without others fussing over him.
He’d grabbed himself his favorite adventure story, and his horse, and had made his way to a peaceful little spot on palace grounds with lovely views of the mountains. With a contented sigh, he leaned back against Flurry and began to read until a shadow was cast over him. “Is there something I may help you with?” he asked, slowly looking up.
Tumblr media
His travels left his heart with as much weight as it lifted. Lobo connected with Rene revealing the long kept secret that the time mage was the grandson of the spirit walker. It was no easy burden to lift but Rene showed him that it was a needed truth. Where he thought he would find hatred for being deceived instead he found comfort and a new connection to a family he was so distant from. Lobo knew that their bond would only strengthen for days to come. However it was easier than the reunion that followed. The echos of Sayu’s pain still ran over Lobo’s heart like a jagged knife. He knew his decision all those years ago was just but he would never forgive himself for the way he hurt the one he loved.
Before he returned to Medes there was one last stop to be made. A young pup Lobo still had interest in looking up while he was away from his kingdom. Sadly through all of his travels over the centuries Bergia was still a place foreign to him. He’d been here before but was still unfamiliar with the terrain. Luckily with the right direction he found the palace but now needed to know how to announce himself without alarming the guards. He approached a boy taking a moment of peace with his dog and a book. Hopefully he was capable of sending him in the right direction. “Yes. I am looking for Prince Dane. Do you believe you can point me in his direction?”

medesian-royalty‌:
Sitting on the throne in the Great Hall awaiting on the King or Queen to arrive. His gaze fixated on a guy kneeling down in front of his throne, probably there to be sentenced for a crime. One leg adorned over the armrest of the throne, his opposing planted on the flooring. “What did you do?” When the man answered and confessed an act of treason was the cause, he scratched at his forehead and chuckled to himself. Not out of amusement for the situation, he never found ecstasy in the misfortune of others. “You know they’re going to put your head on a pike for that?” As humane as he’d become, he didn’t even think he could help the guy out of this situation. He wasn’t even sure he wanted to put his name on the line for a known traitor. “If I were you, I’d ask the Gods for forgiveness.”
Tumblr media
Lobo had finally returned home. Happy to see the repairs to the kingdom were well underway in his absence. Now that he dealt with his personal matters he felt he could truly focus on his duties in service to his king. Once he settled his things in his private quarters Lobo made his way to the throne room. Sure to find either the King or Queen present to inform of his return personally. Pushing open the doors he found something else of a surprise where he expected the royal to be sat. For a moment he stayed silent, curious as to what exactly he walked in on. “My, my. I see much has changed in my absence. I was not aware you had been crowned and put upon the throne, Prince Jabari.” Stepping deeper into the room he came to the side of whoever the accused was knelt before the throne. Signalling for one of the nearby guards in attendance. “Have this one placed inside a cell until the King has arrived to make his judgement.”

sayuxmajesty‌:
“UnfortunaLtely, for us both, you made the decision for me. That goes to say that no matter what I may have believed, no matter how I felt, you valued others before me. It speaks volumes now just as it did then.” Sayu’s eyes became as pointed as the sharpest pin and the hardening of his gaze was different for the Castherian mother. The King’s chin rose. His chest swelling as if to threaten him further. The veins in his hands swelled as his fingers drew into taut fists. “Your place was never at my side because you chose to walk away. No. You fled. You left me broken and that tells me how much and what little value you had in us.” Logic dismantled. Emotions tugged every heart string and he growled low, feeling a bit more vulnerable than he cared to. All these years. All this progression only to leave the king wanting comfort. A place of serenity. But it was harder to ask for it when his husband was far from his side and the man before him left the bitter taste in his mouth like boiled orange pill. He refused to show it. A place he often held dear to his hear becaome the pits of Hel. He were tormented and all he wanted was to feel anything but this.
One could debate that the closure wasn’t an end but a door left open with no avail. Did he still have feelings for him- the question made him hate him even more. He blinked and before he’d known it, Lobo was just within reaches and his sin felt on fire. Distant memories flashing. He frowned. “You no longer have the right to ask me of my truths. You lost that the moment I weeped in the arms of another man.You lost that the moment I shared news that I were to birth my next child. And you lost that the moment you showed back up. Your time is ticking, Lobo.” He built his wall to protect against Lobo slithering back in. A bit of him missed his touch, like the pull of flint to strike a fire or static across flesh. He may have showed a bit of submission but he’d fight. His eyes venturing elsewhere.
Tumblr media
The more he let Sayu vent the less pleased Lobo became. Part of him understood that this poisonous fire coming from the King was from that of pain. Caused by a wound Lobo left in the royal’s heart all those years ago when he made the tough call. A decision that would not just effect their happiness and their fate by the fate of everyone that lived within the borders of this land. He knew in his heart of hearts that Sayu knew the truth but still he allowed his emotions to twist his reason. A luxury neither of them had. If Sayu always let his emotions led his way his kingdom would’ve fallen into ruins long ago. Just as if Lobo allowed himself to submit to every feeling that coursed through his old bones he would be nothing more than a mindless husk for the spirits to use as their play thing. Maybe if they were just two normal, every day commoners things would’ve been different for them both. But fate had other plans in store. For a moment Lobo stood their silent, the shadows around his eyes growing and whatever warmth he felt at the sight of Sayu had fallen cold. “This must be some mistake. This can not be the one I foresaw would rule over this kingdom. No...I must have stepped into one of the other realms ran by spoiled children carrying crowns too big for their heads.” His tone was as chilled as the air as he stood before Sayu and looked down on him. “For the boy I knew...the one that carried the wisdom of the ages in his eyes and warmth of his people in his smile is not here before me. Because he would see the truth. The truth you ignore because you already know the answer to my question.”
Lobo let Sayu vent but he could not stand for any longer. “You stand there and think of only yourself. I made your decision for you...well it was my decision as well. You do not hold exclusive right to decide what is and would be for us. You do not get to dismiss my place in this world as nothing more than a consort. Forgetting my place at my King’s side. How if I was not there during the war Isaac and his sons may have fallen. A place I would have never stood if I remained here.” While many saw him for the wanderer with his head in the clouds with the spirits he spoke with the logic that seemed to have left his estranged lover. “You kingdom is thriving, your sons strong and true and yet you still allow your hatred for me and my actions to blind you to that all. Well so be it...” Openin his arms wide without any defense to his chest. “...show me just how angry you are, your majesty. If you wish to use those fist you hold at your side so badly than do so. Hit me! Hurt me as much as I hurt you. Do what you must as long as you will leave here and return to the place fate chose for you. I will bear every bite of your tongue as long as you remain the King your people deserve. Return to being the one I gave my heart freely to and saw to it would lead his people with only their needs as his drive. If it will heal you I will bare it all....if I am to burn at the stake under you flames to ensure your people to continue to thrive let me be ash...if you know that my decision was not the right one...I will take all the pain upon myself.”

The mage seated before him, the man whose hand was clasped in his own, was a force of nature. Lobo was known for his mirth, his giving nature, the seemingly endless mysteries about the man and his past. And yet, to see him so clearly uncomfortable… Rene attempted what he hoped was a reassuring squeeze. Whatever his mentor had to say, the weaver of time was intent to listen.
As the story came to climax, pieces started slotting together. His father. The man he hadn’t heard from for years upon years, himself a verse in some likely tragic love affair, only recounted to him second-hand. “So my father didn’t know you, growing up.” His words weren’t accusatory in the slightest. A bit dismayed, perhaps, but that was the nature of the conversation. “And when he had a son in turn, he chose…not to follow your eventual example.” Rene’s background wasn’t unique, in the Academy. Mages were oft born and only raised long enough to be slung into schooling, many – but not all – reuniting with their more magic-aligned parents once graduating.
This time, Rene was struggling to maintain his hold. Whatever emotions were welling up within him, he put off. Anguish could wait until he didn’t have a source of answers sitting so near. “Is he still alive?” Rene asked, searching Lobo’s face for any sign of his opinion of the man. “Or my mother – did he ever speak to you of him?”
Tumblr media
Lobo held his head heavy for a moment. “Your father held no example of my will. I did not feel right imposing myself on his methods with raising you...it was not my place. I only gave him insight into his powers and when the time came played my part in filling whatever spots he left empty with his methods. Whatever call he made in deciding your path was his and his alone.” Maybe he should’ve stepped in when his son chose to raise Rene tougher than he would agree to. But then what would the wielder of time have become? Lobo could not live in a world of what ifs because pulling even the smallest thread of fate could unravel the entire world.
Shaking his head he sat up a bit and took a deep breath. “I do not know your father’s fate for some time now. If he is departed I have not yet seen his spirit on the other side.” And he would leave it at that. He knew how Rene felt about his father and his feelings were just. But he did not want to tip the scale of an already uneasy conversation. “No. Whatever wound your mother caused was not one he saw to share. I do know that whatever warmth my son had burned out at the end of their run.” Maybe he could offer some insight on why Rene’s father was so detached from his emotions but the course of his time with Rene’s mother was period of Lobo’s absence.

All five princes under your watch. How do you cream each one?
Usually hunting. I always cream the princes whenever they challenge me to a hunt. I am undefeated. (see what I did there?)

With the age you have I am sure you have some "experience" under your belt. So, who are some men you would like to share your "wisdom" with?
Oh. You think you are cleaver don’t you my shadowed minx? I am always willing to share the lengths of my knowledge with those worth of it. But their names will be known to only I, they and the spirits.

Any knights you'd like to get your hands on?
Can not think of any by name. There was this one that tried to challenge me in a contest of out drinking the other. I honestly do not remember who won. I kind of blacked out half way through. But I would love to get my hands on his neck. Bastard gave me a black eye at some point in the game.

what does it take to have a man like you in another's bed?
That is an answer that can not be given. It is left to the Gods to decide where I am meant to lay...or the right amount of wine. Kill a few bottles of that stuf and there’s no telling where I’ll wake up.

name five men you find yourself drawn to
@timebearsfruit - Someone I’m drawn to with sheer admiration and have know the longest. He is a mage that amazes even me.
@isaac-myre - My King. The first man I have ever sworn my complete and unyielding loyalty to. The spirits drew me to him and I know that my place is meant to be at his call.
@escamyre - A noble man whether he held a crown or not. Esca his a spirit that can not be contained within the shores of Medes. And he proves to be a treasure to our people (and myself) with each passing day.
@sayuxmajesty -The Toyne family may be the only other royal line I respect besides Myre. And that is manly for the King sat upon the throne. My respect is not something easily earned and there is no one I give it more freely to than King Sayuja.
@northern-wxlf -The pup has the spirit of the wild inside of him. One that will show him that there is a greater power in this world other than his crown. He is one I know the Gods are watching with careful intrigue.

sayuxmajesty‌:
“The nerve. The audacity of you.” Anger stroked Sayu’s velvetine voice and muddied the normally diplomatic tone. He was angry with how all of this played out and he was angry because his choices were taken from him. He could feel heat roll through him like a violent storm and he projected it through his eyes in a heavy glare. “You dare show your face over so many years and pacify me with some vile excuse?” Sayu hardened his gaze. His fists clenched. “You wish to stand here as if the road you’ve paved holds no consequence?” He fought back, pushing the expresingly hard emotives of the mage. As he approached, Sayu stepped back. He didn’t deserve to be so close and he needed to feel exactly how the King had been all while standing on his own. His lips tightened, drawing thin. “You don’t get to stand before me and pretend as if you’ve been present all along. You can save the conceptual ideology for the foolish. You left. You helped them cause me grief and for what? Imagine the five children born to the consort of Casther could’ve been born because I lo–” He choked back the words and straightened himself out. “You have an hour on Castherian soil before I make a decisive choice to have you removed or to do it myself.” Sayu was undeniably angry but under all that emotion was a feelingof hurt.  Tormented by the thought of retunring nightmares and grief- mourning the loss of a bond and a love. He hugged himself, letting his eyes sway, drifting toward the open field.
Tumblr media
It would be normal for any man to shrink under the weight of a king’s word. The slice of his tongue with every word cut the thickening air around them. Lobo paused only to allow the man his rightful place in anger. Allow him to vent whatever festered within that wound Lobo caused when he left the prince, now king all those years ago. But Lobo did not bend nor shrink. He stood firm in his place until whatever words Sayu needed to speak had been said. And once finished Lobo found his right to voice some of his own. “You say there could have been fine children born out of love. Does the fact your children were born of other means make you love them any less?” Taking a daring step towards the king without regard of his royal space. “If I had been by your side instead of my own journey would your kingdom have not flourished into the gem of a realm it has become?” A chill came to the air but it did not feel like it came from the wind but something deeper as Lobo neared. It wasn’t a cause for fear but more so an echo of the mage’s presence when his emotions shifted the balance of his control. “My place was never here at your side, Sayuja...” Ignore titles as he did not of have care of them in that instance. “...no matter what I wanted that was not the plan fate had for either of us.” His movements changed, as if time stood still or he slipped in and out of some veil before he was standing but a foot in front of Sayu before the king would have a chance to get away. His hand started to lift toward Sayu’s face to graze his cheek as he had habit of when greeting his lost love. But instead clinched his fingers into a fist not wanting to push his boundaries further than he already had. “No matter how much I regret the pain my decision caused you or the hatred your heart now holds for me you can not look at all you have accomplished and tell me it was for nothing.”
