sorry if i'm gonna be quiet for a while. my country recently introduced laws that make it so that in order to use social media to the fullest (not being able to view ns/fw content and in a few cases, not even having access to dms), i HAVE to give the sites my id/face scan.
it goes into effect july 25th. it'll probably effect here too, since this place allows mature content (tho not full on ns/fw)
i'm very distressed about it bc i might end up not even being able to talk to my internet friends. i don't really have any irl ones
if i have to disappear on most socials by then, you know why.

Currently watching Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood for the first time and, if I said that the reason this show has lost popularity among U.S. anime watchers in recent years was tied to the general rise in conservatism...

Citizen Sleeper is one of the media I've encountered so far that fully commits to its critique of capitalism. It never lets up on how the real enemy is not anyone around you but the capitalist system and the corporations that perpetuate it, and how those corporations either intentionally hurt people or are inevitably unable to help people to protect their bottom line and keep making money. The only reason you survive at all is connections with others who give you a good turn even if they have no guarantee to profit from it. The cycles where you spend all your time doing jobs for money are boring, but that's kinda the point. Yes you make more money, but once you're secure, what is it for? There's no point. And once you unlock the Greenway, you can go full communist if you want to.
