Okay look you don't understand, The Pre-Pilots Kai book does things to my brain that I couldn't even imagine-
I already adore Kai and Zane and their show dynamic but this fucking book takes it to a WHOLE new level, like "Jay and Cole are best friends" levels when it comes to dynamic.
I've said a million times and I'll say it again, Kai gets Zane like no one else, he has a particular soft spot for the guy the other ninja didn't have at the time, and I'd argue even nowdays he still has that soft spot, and I'd assume vice versa as well.
And just, aghhg7abflnwofm
They both are so amazing I love them, Zane might not fully understand Kai, and the guy probably stood out to Zane immediately because he's so god damn out there and Loud and angry and all that-
But even if he's bad at emotions, he's smart enough to know that it's out of deep care and worry...
"I envy you"
HE FUCKING KNOWS KAI IS LIKE THAT BECAUSE HE'S SO WORRIED ABOUT NYA GET OUT-
Then suddenly, it's turned 180 when Kai wonders why Zane even envys him.
How can you envy someone that just lost their family member?
Answer: You don't even have family to begin with.
Like the secretly ever caring guy he is, Kai goes:
"I've been so caught up with my own problems, I never stopped to think about what his might be."
At that moment, Kai realised that despite everything, he has a luxury that Zane might never be able to expiernce (within the context of The Pilots, ignore "Tick Tock" for now), and he can't even imagine his life without any family.
That, in Kai's mind, is hard to comprehend fully, "Wouldn't that be at least a little distracting?"
Oh how we'd come to eventually understand SO CLEARLY if you've read the Zane Pre-Pilots book and watched Tick Tock, as a matter of fact, that that's possibly the most distracting thing ever for Zane, he constantly thinks about his past, and Kai managed to make that good assumption purely off of Zane's explanation of his very brief past.
And if that wasn't already bad enough for my brain rot-
Since they have time, why not and try solve Zane's issues with him?
Thinking about what sort of avatar PIXAL and Zane might have had if they'd been allowed to tag along, and then I remembered that one magazine comic where PIXAL plays a video game as Zane
Nya is really going through, and that's not to mention theories and stuff like Kai's biggest fear not even being seen!
Sticking to my guns (filled with adhesive glue) that Pixal will not be in Season 2
If I keep expecting all the old characters to come back immediately, characters' personalities to be corrected immediately, then that will ruin me watching Dragons Rising for the story
Pixal is great yes love her and I want Zane's character fixed with a comically large Fix It Felix hammer smashing him once and he sparkles
But Dragons Rising just fucking started why are my expectations wanting every possible thing to be fixed overnight like calm down???

My expectations are way too high for PIXAL, Zane, Jay and Kai even, even tho I know that likely a lot of my assumptions are gonna be either wrong or slightly right but not fully

I think there's a lot you can tell about a Ninjago fan based on what objectively mediocre season they're unhealthily obsessed with.
Like, obsessed in an "i know its bad writing but goddamn does it compel me" kinda way. In a "no one can talk shit about my fave but me" kinda way. In an "I deserve a PhD for how intensely I study this thing under a microscope" kinda way. In an "Im the only one who truly understands this story and its wasted potential, so im the only one capable of hating it correctly" kinda way.
What exactly does your favorite mid season say about you? Good question. But it sure does say Something.
Learning about Lopburi, the Thai town where two rival gangs of monkeys have been fighting in the streets
Police have been trying to capture the “leaders” but the monkeys know how to identify a tranquilizer gun, so they scatter as soon as they someone raise one. Cops have to hide the tranq gun until they get close.
I think like, it has to do with how "Queer coding" itself is perceived by them, also depends on where they're from and what their beliefs are as well
For example, it is likely that if they're a Muslim country say for example, what would be considered "Queer Coding" in outside countries is seen as deep platonic/family like love by them, and I admit I am one of those people as well
Just speaking from personal expiernce tbh, that's what I've noticed with how Queer Coded characters are seen here by people, and that's not to say Queer Coding itself isn't picked up on by people from where am I, sometimes it is actually picked up on, but (more often then) only the media being consumed is very clearly saying "HEY! THESE 2 CHARACTERS ARE QUEER CODED!", or when the person know about how Queer Coding is seen in other countries
So usually, when people go into a show (Ninjago in this example), they're more likely then not to perceive ships like Geo and Cole as brotherly love then anything romantic, and not that some of them don't see romance between Geo and Cole, they absolutely do, they just choose to ignore it because it's either:
A) I can believe whatever Canon js in my head
B) The Show itself heavily implies it but never straight up admits it
I can't explain it, and I know some people who say they don't see Cole as gay aren't being homophobic... but it still Feels weird? Like because how are you gonna say this now HEAVILY gay-coded character isn't gay to you? I dunno am I making any sense... it just Feels weird...
