OOPS! ALL ANGST! PROMPTS *  assorted dialogue, adjust as necessary
when were you going to tell me the truth?
so you're telling me everything has been a lie.
i never should have trusted you.
you've done nothing but lie.
i had to make you believe me in order to get you to come.
there's nothing you can do for me now.
go! i'll fight them off! get to safety!
i'm done with this place.
we were never meant to be together.
there's nothing you can say to convince me otherwise.
i put my faith in you, and this is how you repay me?
you should have known better than to trust me.
is that all this is? a ploy? a game? is that what i am to you?
you've been playing with my heart this whole time.
was any of it real?
i'm never coming back here again.
i have a message from your father.
you were a waste of my time.
so that's it then? you're leaving?
we always knew this was a one way trip.
it's been an honor serving with you.
how long have you known?
did you ever love me? i mean really love me?
they made me a better offer.
it's not my fault you fell in love.
i need you to promise me you'll do everything in your power to fight.
what are you talking about? i'm not leaving you here!
there's nothing we can do now.
it's useless to try and fight.
i always thought there was more to you. turns out i was wrong.
you betrayed me for nothing.
you made me a promise.
it's no use. i've tried everything.
i can't believe you fell for that.
everything you've ever known is a lie.
do you want to hear what really happened?
i should have told you this a long time ago.
you're going to want to sit down for this.
i'm not sure you're ready for the honest truth.
i have a message from your mother.
get out of my house!
i'm never speaking to you again.
i'm not going to repeat myself.
i told you to never contact me again.
i warned you this would happen.
you're really good at fucking things up.
don't worry. you'll never hear from me again.
you were wrong about everything.
you already missed your chance.
i never asked for much.
i've loved you since the day we met.
i don't want you to be here when it happens.
you're such a disappointment.
i can't go on without you.
you have ruined my life!
we should run.

"TELL ME WHAT'S GOING ON" PROMPTS *  assorted dialogue for demanding answers, adjust as necessary
say it again, slower this time.
i don't have much time to explain, but i'll try.
you need to tell me what's going on.
i can't help you if i don't know what's happening.
you said something earlier, but i think i missed it.
i'm not hiding anything. i'm just trying to protect you.
what were you trying to say to me?
there must be more to the story than this.
you're not telling me the full story. you're leaving things out.
why do you have to be so secretive about this?
i wish i could tell you the truth. i really do.
why can't we discuss this now?
what's preventing you from telling me the truth?
you know what happened, yet you're just going to keep it from me.
don't i have a right to know?
i'll never forgive you if you keep this from me.
you're just going to have to find out for yourself.
don't leave me in the dark.
since you don't want to tell me, you leave me no choice.
i want you to talk to me, tell me what happened.
i don't like it when you're evasive.
you're hiding something.
all right, i'll tell you what i know.
you have to promise to take this with a grain of salt.
if i could tell you the truth, i would.
some things are better left unsaid.
you wouldn't believe me if i told you.
i don't know the truth.
i can't remember what they told me.
the last time i tried to explain it, you laughed in my face.
there's no getting through to you, is there?
tell me what's happening. tell me what's going on.
i can't do anything without your information.
you're the only one who knows how to fix this.
there's always something more, isn't there?
what else did they tell you?
what did they whisper to you when you were leaving?
you're keeping something from me.
you've never been a good liar.
look into my eyes and tell me the truth.
i wish you would just be honest with me.
something happened, and i'm going to get to the bottom of it.
if you won't tell me, i'll find someone who will.
that doesn't help me, you know.
you could try to be a little more helpful.
you never answered my question.
were you ever going to tell me the truth?
i'd like you to be honest for once in your life.
if you really loved me, you'd tell me what happened.
i won't judge you. i just need to know what happened.
just let me warn you... you're not going to like what you hear.

Scar Survey starters
"What's the story behind this scar? It looks like it has a tale to tell." "I can't help but notice the scars on your arms. They seem to have quite the history." "Every scar has a story, right?" "Did this one happen in a battle, or is there a different story behind it?" "Your scars are like a roadmap." "Where did you acquire this scar?" "I've always been curious about your scars." "This scar on your shoulder looks like it's been through something intense. What's the story?" "Scars tell a story of survival. Care to share some of yours with me?" "Scars aren't just wounds; they're badges of honor." "This scar on your hand seems different. What's the story behind it?" "Scars can be reminders of both pain and triumph." "Scars make us who we are." "Scars are like a visual history." "What's the history behind this scar on your back?" "I've been wondering about the stories behind your scars."

the receiver has told the sender that they haven't slept for several days due to intense nightmares, and asks them to stay the night so that they might be able to sleep. send in " i stayed. " for the receiver to waken the next morning and find the sender to still be sitting by their bedside, having stayed the whole night to ensure they slept.
alternatively, send in " you stayed. " for the sender to waken the next morning and find the receiver is still sitting by their bedside, having stayed the whole night to ensure they slept.

"SIXTH, I THINK..." Lockwood grumbles testily. "Last time we were in Mausoleums and Ossuaries at the left wing, when we should have been in Burial Rituals and... something or other. Rites, maybe. All the same; this place turns my head round." As if to punctuate his time at the Archives, drawing it to a not-so-well deserved close, he snaps his book shut. Its pages come together with a leafy slap, and he sets it on the table with all the delicacy and care of a disgruntled diner chef.
"Excellent idea, Luce. Your best one yet."
And just like that, a new energy surges through Lockwood's slim frame. He jumps from his chair, grasps the hand that Lucy offers, and with his other, scoops up his small pile of books. Electrified, he leads his dear associate through tangles of agents and busy researchers. Through the thrum of shelves and masses of book-laden carts.
"Now... You don't happen to remember where the return— ah, over there. I see it now, Luce." He collects the whole lot of books into his arms. "I'll take these up and we can be on our way, thank God. You mustn't ever let George talk us into doing his work for him, even in the most dire of circumstances, understand?"
The lady at the desk— somewhere in her fifties, with sharp eyes and long jowls— does not look enthused by Lockwood's newly exuberant energy. ...Nor how he's handling the books. She squares away his forms with an unenthused air about her, scribbling hard with her pen, then sending him away.
"I believe you mentioned lunch?" Lockwood says once he's tacked onto Lucy's side. "Thinking somewhere specific?"
THE QUIET MURMUR of footsteps and turning pages blankets the Archives. Few people stir about; most of them— agents and researchers alike— plant themselves in hardwood seats with noses pressed firm between the crux of a book's spine. Others putter around, foraging for new material on the Problem, on specters and phantasms, and every other metaphysical discipline one can imagine.
A dust permeates, too. One that comes with the flit of every turned page. The thick of it makes Lockwood's nose twitch. He sneezes every so often. This is not the sort of place he'd fancy, preferring to nestle into his armchair with a copy of The Times or some garishly printed pop magazine. Why entertain books on the dead when there are perfectly good stories about the living? Like that sour Fittes review he'd read last week... Yes, he'd been chuffed to find that one. Even pasted on the fridge.
This kind of research— this dipping and bobbing between innumerable shelves— is better left to George.
Unfortunately, George's bug prevents him from walking more than ten steps out of bed without doubling over into a fit of coughing. And coughing is certainly not the kind of noise one might want to bring into a library or archive or any other quiet, thoughtful place. Thus, Lockwood politely picks up his associate's sniveling slack. At least she's with him.
And speaking of she— Lucy Carlyle has managed to capture her associate's attention for a whole two uninterrupted minutes. Sun beams in through a far window, its rays catching in her hair, dancing across the gentle slope of her cheek, and illuminating her in a pearlescent morning glow. She flips with intent through a copy of Deadly Encore, a periodical from the early eighteenth century. It's not exactly the book they're looking for, but whatever it is, it's seized her fascination.
Not unlike the way she's seized his.
Right. The book.
"God, no." Lockwood breathes contemptuously, smiling. "I'm afraid I might fall asleep if you leave. And George won't be at all happy if we come back empty handed."
He bows over the archival index spread across the table. "Says here that we're... In the wrong section. Again. This is codswallop."

‘ you make it very hard to focus on what i'm supposed to be doing. ‘ - ( Lockwood ) @lockwdco
Lucy can't quite keep herself from SMILING at his words, because...well, because the fact that he finds her distracting is something to say the least. She knows exactly how he's feeling, finds him distracting during certain times, too, but it settles a spark of warmth in her chest to know the feeling is mutual, even if neither of them speak much about it.
"I am literally just SITTING here," She points out, though the smile is still present on her lips. "Would you like me to go?"
