Forever and ever, my love
Loki struggled to keep his composure as his brother was continuously tortured before his very eyes, hands clenching into fists as Thor is knocked down for what seemed to be the thousandth time in the span of an hour.
“You can stop his pain, and you know it.” Thanos said as he punched Thor in the gut, causing the said asgardian to spit out blood again. Loki was about to step forward when Thor sent him the sharpest glare he could, freezing Loki in his steps. Not once in his life had his brother ever glared at him with such animosity before.
Then again, he couldn’t really blame him for it.
An exchange.
His brother’s life, for the tesseract. Loki knew it was a risky gamble - what with being the God of Mischief himself, he knows that Thanos might not keep his word and kill off Thor the moment he had it.
But what choice did he have?
Was he just supposed to stand here and watch his brother, though not by blood, perish just like that? If he ever were to die one day, it would be by the hands of Loki himself, not anyone else.
“You can have it!” Loki shouted as Thanos, hearing his screams, finally stopped his abuse on Thor, who collapsed onto the ground as he tried to stay conscious. Thanos really did a number on him.
Slowly, yet cautiously, Loki brought out the tesseract.
“NO!” Thor roared, only to be silenced by one of Thanos’ minions, who clamped bits of metal around the god, rendering him useless as he struggled to free himself, all the while never tearing his gaze off Loki.
“Loki if you do this...I swear on our father’s name I will -“
“HE IS NOT MY FATHER!” Loki spat harshly. “And if you have any brains, even you’d know that this is our best chance at survival. So shut up and trust me brother!” Loki growled as he approached Thanos, the shining cube of the Tesseract glowing brightly from his hands.
Loki knew that they’d end up dead, even after he handed the tesseract to Thanos anyway. So his best bet was to take him down with him ; or at least allow Thor enough time to escape and get help. He knew that his chances of getting out of this alive was slim.
It’s just.....
He wished he could have seen her face...just one last time. Auburn-coloured hair, rosy pink lips and an ever-smiling face - his one true love, Winter.
Winter is an asgardian, and...Loki’s childhood sweetheart. She was one of the most vied for woman too - what with her looks and lovable personality. She was a bright, cheerful, yet wise child. Her knowledge knew no bounds, to the extent that even the great Odin himself, respects her.
It all started back when Thor and his friends would leave him alone as they went out to train. Loki desperately wanted to join them, but they would always beat him up and laugh at him for being so...so weak. After several attempts, Loki finally gave up and decided to spend his time catching up on his reading.
He always sat by The Great Tree on top of a hill overlooking Asgard as he enjoyed the peace and tranquility it provided him.
That was where he met her.
His Winter.
She never judged Loki for not fighting or training when he should be and instead, joined him there as the two slowly became quick friends. Now seeing this, Thor also wanted Lady Winter’s attention as he tried everything possible to get it.
To say Loki was furious would be an understatement of the century when he found out ; he was livid. He was livid and....so very....scared. Scared that she would leave him - a nobody for the Mighty Thor. She wouldn’t be the first after all.
Yet imagine his surprise when she ignored all Thor’s advances as tried to attach herself to Loki. He felt so happy then as he fell in love with the loyal, kind woman.
Years passed, and the two were still very much in love. However, after Loki’s attempts at conquering Midgard, he never saw her again. He hoped to catch a glimpse of her when he got back to Asgard, but there was none. When he asked, the guards would glare at him hatefully, as if they held a personally grudge against him for something.
And finally............Loki found out.
She had defected from Asgard, going in search of her lover and was never seen again.
Loki was utterly heartbroken at the news. His one true love - gone with the snap of a finger. He would never be able to kiss those soft lips, whisper sweet-nothings into her ear, wake up to her loving kiss.....never again.
As Loki was about to hand the tesseract to Thanos, he quickly materialized a dagger out of thin air and thrust it, just as Thanos caught him. Loki’s face contorted in pain as Thanos easily snapped his wrist and slowly lifted him up, strangling him.

“You........will never......be.........a god!......” Loki managed to choke out. Just as Thanos was about to snap his neck, a sudden kick to the side of his face made him drop Loki as he quickly turned to face the intruder, who was wearing a black mask.
His minions were about to attack the said intruder when Thanos stopped them, wanting to deal with this himself. Then, the stranger attacked.
‘Those combat skills.....’ Thor thought as he watched them. It reminded him of when he would train back at Asgard. Was the intruder an asgardian? But that’s impossible!
The fight was short though as Thanos easily overpowered the stranger, snapping his or her legs as he threw them to the side like a rag doll.
“Who are you?” Thanos muttered as the intruder stayed silent, though it seemed like they were murmuring something quietly. Thanos pulled off the mask as both Loki and Thor got the shock of their lives, seeing Winter.
Her face was bloodied and bruised as she struggled to continue what she was murmuring.
“Winter....?” Loki cried as he tried to go towards her, only to have Thanos’ minions hold him back.
“Allfathers hear my plea! Send these two from whence they came!” She suddenly screamed just as a bright, rainbow-coloured beam shot out of nowhere, encasing Thor, whose eyes widened in shock at what was happening.
“What-!” he barely had time to get the words out before he was whisked away as the bright light then encased Loki and Heimdall. Loki stares in horror as Thanos picks up his battle axe, a furious expression present upon his horrid face as he swings, thrusting it into Winter’s chest.
“NOOOOOOOOOOO!! NO.....NOOOOOOOOO!!!” Loki hollered as he watched the life slowly dim in her bright orbs. “WINTER! DARLING, HOLD ON!!!” Loki shouts as he desperately tries to reach his love, the beam pulling him back as he stretched his hand out towards her.
Winter noticed him as she weakly raised her head, giving one last bright smile to her only love. Loki’s heart shattered as he watched the words she mouthed to him.
‘I...love you...forever and.........ever..........my love....’
Loki was then whisked away, screaming in agony as he was torn away from her forever.
The one who was always there for him ; to brighten his day and cheer him up.
The one who was always there to support his ambitions, loving him unconditionally.
The one who never left him.
Winter had passed.
