Hey, remember how I had that Bridgerton AU? Well imagine that Punz has been sneaking out at night, and Gothel catches her in the act of coming home, an absolute mess.

Anyway, I started drawing this almost exactly a year ago, and last night I got it in my head to finally finish it. I'm especially proud of the fact that I simply used nighttime colors, for once, instead of daytime colors that I then put a filter over. It makes a huge difference.

Also, this is an upcoming moment in @xiaolindude's and my continuing RP (though it could just generically apply to any ol' Bridgerton AU). Can you believe we've been working on that thread since 2022?

I just bought a new phone, so, as tradition dictates, I drew myself a new phone case image. The phone's mint green, so I decided I'd draw Jade, but not have any color on her hair, and let the phone's color be her hair color!

Top image is with a flat mint green over her hair, second image is with transparent hair, and the bottom four are the rejected sketches while I was deciding on a design.

So, a few sessions back, we managed to filch this broken sword from Lady Fiona Voctor's mansion. Quinn was doing some research on it when she realized it's the legendary Sun Blade.

She promptly attuned to it. XD

Her curls are looser and she's not wearing her sash because it's at the end of a long day. Also, she's barefoot, but you can't see that behind the table. X3

In other news, I learned how to make animated gifs in Procreate tonight, and while my first attempt wasn't working out, I may revisit the idea of making the candlelight flicker...

Quinn Lautner Mood Board

I can't stop thinking about my D&D darling, so here's a mood board for her!

Top row: Who she was trained to be - a monster (specifically vampire) hunter. Middle row: What Borovia has given her so far - lycanthropy and the Sun Blade. Bottom row: Who she is by nature - a scholar, a sentimental woman, sweet and feminine with a sharp wit. Believe me, she's keeping a journal and taking notes in Borovia so she can update her family's research.

And yes, I recently realized that Rachel Weisz, specifically Evelyn Carnahan/O'Connell in The Mummy franchise would be the perfect fc for her.

With only hours left to 2024, I give you... my final shippy Christmas pic! (And my last pic of 2024.) I'm a big fan of the lighting, and the texture of the fur trim on her coat. Also, the snow outside the window.

This is my D&D character, Quinn (you might remember her from her concept pic), and @reanimatedmuses' character Renard Volpe (yes, his name is Foxy McFox). They are not a couple yet, though they do like like each other. However, they're currently at the stage where one says, "Why, are you jealous?" and the other says, "No, should I be? ... Wait, should I be?!"

We have a playlist for them that consists largely of songs where the singer/singers are in denial, or talking about how much they dislike each other. You know, classic casual enemies to lovers. X3 Hence, the mistletoe and the smiling rejection. (Also, she's blushing.)

Merry Christmas, and, more importantly, Happy New Year! Good luck next year, everyone. We'll need it.

My True Love Sent To Me...

Only four days late, wheeeeee! I haven't drawn any Raipunzel Bridgerton stuff in a while, so I picked an old Christmas song to base it off of. (Two, actually, since they're under a bough of holly.) In the original lyrics, it was "four colly birds," and colly means black, so while I don't think it's blackbirds like blackbirds, it's birds that are black.

Anyway. @xiaolindude said that Rai would comment, "I shall gift you so many birds, because you are my true love," and that inspired this. Merry Christmas!

A Christmas Fantasy

Okay, so small story behind this pic! The annual Disneyland Christmas parade, which has run since 1995, is called A Christmas Fantasy Parade. It has several themed units, starting with Santa's mail room and gradually leading up to the big man himself, appearing in his sleigh. Each unit is about an aspect of Christmas/Christmas activity that might be done to celebrate the season. Playing in the snow, baking, etc. One section called the Candlelight Christmas Ball, and features many of the princes and princesses -- as well as backup dancers -- enjoying a winter's ball. The couples are Snow White and the Prince, Cinderella and Charming, Aurora and Phillip, Ariel and Eric, Belle and the Beast (in Beast form), and most recently added in 2013, Tiana and Naveen. Please know that I am literally and truly not upset that Rapunzel and Eugene aren't in the parade. They don't need to be in everything, even though they're my favorites.

But anyway, this is my imagining of them dancing in the parade. Although almost all the other characters in the parade have a Christmas/winter outfit on, the characters in this unit (and a few others) do not, which I think is criminal. So I drew Eugene in something close to his cold weather outfit from the US parks (which has an amazing resemblance to his season 2 outfit in the series), and I made up an outfit for Rapunzel which (obviously) strongly resembles her usual dress, but done up for a winter look.

Honestly I meant to put a lot more wintry greenery in her hair but drive to draw ran out.

The Best Things Happen While You're Dancing

Time to start cranking out the shippy Christmas art! While this doesn't look inherently Christmasy, to those in the know, this is from a scene from White Christmas to a song with the same title as the drawing. It's one of @reanimatedmuses and my mutual favorite Christmas movies, so it only seemed appropriate to put our ship in it!

Once again, Kurt proves difficult to shade properly. Thanks, fuzzy blue elf.

My desire to talk about New Dream kids comes and goes, based on my current mood, but you fortunately caught me in a mood where I'm okay talking about it.

Rapunzel and Eugene's first child is adopted. They're an older kid, getting close to aging out of the system, with a chip on their shoulder because they're sure no one's ever going to want them. Basically, they find someone who was very much like Eugene when he was on the brink of becoming a thief. While I do not have a specific gender or name associated with this adopted child, the only time I ever wrote about them (in an RP) it was a boy named Gavin, so, for the sake of this post, that's how I'll refer to them.

Rapunzel and Eugene start "wooing" Gavin about a year and a half after she takes the throne (so not even right after they get married). They visit him weekly, bring him gifts, take him on outings, see if he's actually a good fit for their family. And then, they find out she's pregnant. Gavin is utterly convinced that this means they don't want him anymore, and starts getting closed off, but they ask him if he still wants to be a part of their family knowing that a baby's on the way. They leave it up to him. Stunned that they're still interested, he says yes, so they adopt Gavin before Rapunzel even starts showing.

Then it turns out that she's pregnant with not one child, but twins! A girl and a boy! The girl is named Claire and the boy is named Bastion. I've never thought too much about their appearances, tbh, but they're definitely both brunette, because I'm not fond of the headcanon that the Sundrop lingers in Rapunzel (or Eugene) and can be passed on to their kids. I also haven't delved too deep into their personalities. I like subverting expectations, but in the Tangled universe, how do you even do that?

While Gavin can never take the throne, because he's not of royal blood, he's the best big brother and protector the twins could hope for. Besides, it doesn't matter too much as Rapunzel begins to slowly dismantle the monarchy in her lifetime. While Corona never goes full democratic while she's alive (not that she didn't want it to, but everyone kept begging her to keep leading, so that was about as close to an election s se figured she'd get), perhaps within Gavin and the twins' lifetimes, it will be.

No. I did have an idea for her, but I ran out of time/artistic inspiration. (I even specified in the description of the Varian one that it was my last one.)

I planned to make her the headless horseman, with her own head under her arm, rather than a flaming jack-o-lantern!

Out of curiosity, how does Medusa!Varian's lower body look like? Does he have legs or a tail?

Frankly, I'm not sure! I've pictured it both ways, to be honest!

Gorgarian - Halloween 2024

My next (and final) Tangled Halloween picture of 2024, Varian as a gorgon (Medusa). Honestly, this wasn't what I intended to do. I intended to draw him as a mummy. But, while I was looking for models, I found a screencap of him from the series finale when his hair stripe was a snake, and my entire premise shifted to this.

It works, too, for a few reasons! 1) The irony of a gorgon wearing goggles (because of the whole turning to stone, thing -- if he's wearing them when he looks in a mirror, he's safe). 2) Athena was the goddess who turned Medusa into a gorgon, and because of that I started coming up with a whole au/backstory for what's just supposed to be a Halloween monster. XD

My favorite bits are that I used the alchemical symbol for Athena/sulfur on the medallion holding his toga, and his teeny tiny little fanged smirk.
