Always Brings A Tear To My Eye !!

On this day, 80 years ago, February 23, 1945, the iconic photograph of six United States Marines raising the second U.S. flag atop Mount Suribachi during the Battle of Iwo Jima, was taken by Associated Press photographer, Joe Rosenthal.
Three of the six Marines in the photograph鈥擲ergeant Michael Strank, Corporal Harlon Block, and Private First Class Franklin Sousley鈥攚ere killed in action during the battle. The other three Marines in the photograph were Private First Class Ira Hayes, Private First Class Harold Schultz, and Private First Class Harold Keller.
The photograph has come to be regarded as one of the most significant and recognizable images of WWII.
