To the customers who apologize repeatedly for “bothering” me, or offer to clean up their own spill if I just get them some paper towels, or walk all the way around an aisle so as not to disturb me when I’m blocking their path, I just want to reassure you that you are NOT the annoying customer we complain about in retail. You are very kind and you clearly respect me and my time and I appreciate you. Also I am happy to help you with whatever you need and it is not at all a bother.

To the customer who shouted “EGGS?” at me from twenty feet away because apparently it was just too much trouble to come a few steps closer and use a complete sentence like “where are the eggs, please?”: fuck you.

Things I loved about Love Simon that I haven’t seen be acknowledged yet

• Keiynan Lonsdale is a BISEXUAL BLACK MAN playing a GAY CHARACTER. IMPORTANT!!

• Bram is a BLACK JEWISH GAY MAN. How many of these characters do you see represented in movies?! NONE, ZIP, ZERO, NADA!

• THE OUTING PART WAS SO SPOT ON!

• The only unrealistic thing about Simon confronting Martin is he’d probably have kicked Martin’s ass

• The fact that it’s usually easier to come out to one person first, one whom you don’t really feel close enough to and feel like if you lose them for being yourself, you could move on with your life, or if they reject you completely it could be world-ending. SO ACCURATE.

• Gay jokes can hurt, whether they are meant or not. Even internalized homophobic jokes or just pretending you’re straight hurts.

• talking about holding your breath and being constantly tense for hiding your secret and when letting your secret go a huge weight coming off your shoulders. I’ve never felt so represented in this sort of way.

• This movie honestly changed my life. It was eye-opening, it showed true gay solidarity, and I’m just overwhelmed by the love I have for the lgbtq+ community.
