There are people who you can sit and quietly watch the night sky with and there are people that you sit with while you both make comments about finding a constellation shaped like a dick and sometimes if you’re really lucky you find someone who is both

Lorin blinks, her human eyes not keeping up, and fumbles for the stone behind her, the one she was lying on. She grabs it, fingers scrabbling in the dirt, and slowly brings it in front of her.
Lorin sleeps restlessly, but after what feels like centuries she opens her eyes to the soft grey of dawn. She raises a hand and rubs her face groggily. “Did you sleep?”

Lorin follows his gaze, pushing herself half up off the ground and promptly wincing in pain as something that probably had just scabbed over opens again.

Lorin waits for a bit, then coughs. “So you said you’d teach me magic?”

Magic Mountain Lodge This hotel is located in Huilo Huilo, a Natural Reserve in Chile. The rustic appearance ends with the exterior however, as the interiors are done up in luxury. There are only 9 rooms, named after bird species found in the area. Each of them overlooks the thick forest and wildlife outside. Guests even get a glimpse of a real-life volcano from the hotel. Hot tubs made out of huge tree trunks, overlooking the forest are a major tourist attraction at Magic Mountain, as is the world’s longest zip line running through the grounds.

Lorin sleeps restlessly, but after what feels like centuries she opens her eyes to the soft grey of dawn. She raises a hand and rubs her face groggily. “Did you sleep?”
He shakes his head. “No, I had every intent to keep you safe during the night.” He coos softly.
“Oh.” Lorin looks down, smiling self-consciously. “You didn’t have to do that.”
Zak smiles sheepishly. “I wanted to, Lorrin. Someone had to stay awake and I wouldn’t think of letting it be you.”
Lorin can feel herself blushing. To hide it, she tries sitting up, and lets out a gasp of pain. The blood on her tunic is black in the dimness.
Zak eases her up. “What happened to you? You were bleeding badly.” His robes have blood from tending to her the night previous.
“I think... I think we might have camped in a haunted grove and angered the trees.” She makes a face. “That sounds stupid.”

Lorin nods and tucks her head into his shoulder. "Thanks." She closes her eyes gratefully.

Zak’s hands shake softly as he finds Lorrin’s heartbeat. It’s weak but existent. He breathes a soft sigh of relief. “I…… I’m so sorry Lorrin….. I should’ve been more careful…….” He whimpers softly.
She opens her eyes to darkness, punctuated by the dying campfire flame… then a creaking sound as if the very trees were coming alive, and - Another stab of pain rips through Lorin’s abdomen. She gasps in response, and her eyelids flutter lightly, before settling back into closure, with restless eye movements beneath them.
The half-drow’s icy eyes seem to soften as he looks her over, his mind running faster than usual.
Lorin calms a little, then - roots, coming up through her bedroll, strangling her - frantically, she gulps in air, beating at now-gone enemies. The pain in her stomach is agonizing, but she can’t look, won’t look, all she knows is fever and the pain and somewhere, the touch of softest velvet.
Zak continues to try and wake her up. “Lorrin…. Lorrin please wake up……” He whimpers softly. He shakes her shoulder lightly.
Lorin’s eyes pop open at the motion, coming violently back to the world. The first thought is of something digging into her back, a rock of some kind. The second is of pain, and cool air on her stomach, and she looks down to see blood soaking her tunic. Her eyes widen as memories crash over her; being strangled, then blinding pain as a root missed its target and went… went through her. Screaming, and then being…carried? She blinks and looks up at the half-drow beside her. “What…?”
Fear is etched deep into his features. He quickly moved to hugs her close, hiding his face in her shoulder. “Good Elistrae….. Something snapped in my mind and everything went dark and when I came to….. You were trapped in a night terror……” His ears flick back softly. He trembles weakly afraid of himself more than of her.
Slowly, shakily, she lifts a hand and strokes his hair. “It’s okay,” she whispers weakly.
Despite her soothing and gentle touch, Zak onlybseems to tremble more. What if he blacked out and never woke up?
Lorin keeps stroking his hair for a bit, then looks down at him. “Hey.” She bends awkwardly to meet his eyes. “If you let us die, I’ll kill you.” She tries for a grin, but it comes out shaky and lopsided.
He attempts a smile of his own. His doesn’t last long.
Lorin’s eyes shift, and she brushes her finger curiously over one of his long ears. She’s dizzier now, conscious of her blood loss, but strangely no longer so scared.
He shudders, almost as though he was ticklish. The ear flicks softly as she touches it. They seem to be very much like the ears of hunting hounds, sensitive and soft. Near the tip of his ear, there are two heavy, thick, iron earrings or dwarfish make.
Lorin giggles, then winces. “What are those?”

"Ideally, with spells that keep me from getting - ow! Stabbed. By things.' She closes her eyes for a moment as a wave of dizziness washes over her, and momentarily loses her brashness.

Lorin lies back and tries not to yelp. Twice she fails. To distract herself, she watches the stars through the leaves above.
"Teach me magic," she says when he's done.
