🌵 arthur

“Rowe,” Arthur called from inside the tent he’d set up for the night, watching his wife admiring flowers down by the side of the nearby lake, “I’m tellin’ ya, girl, y’ ought t’ get back here now!”

“I will, I will! I just want to pick a few more, for Jack!” Rowen responded, smiling as she delicately plucked the colorful plants and made a kind of bouquet in her other hand. She’d been at it for around half an hour, picking only those with the most vibrant of petals. The idea was to bring them back to camp as a gift for Jack, who loved to make little wearable trinkets out of flowers. What Rowen didn’t realize was how the sky darkened despite it being too early for the sun to set. Her somewhat oblivious nature worried Arthur, who sighed, going between keeping an eye on her and the sky.

“Listen, sweetheart! A big storm’s comin’!” He shouted with a pleading tone. He didn’t want to go and drag her back himself, because she would see that as being treated like a child. On her knees, Rowen picked just a few more, turning finally towards Arthur and holding up her treasures with a proud grin.

“I’m done! I think I got enough! What do you thi - ahh!” She shrieked when a sudden burst of thunder shook the ground, almost falling over. Rain started its slow downpour as she scrambled to her feet, tripping wildly over her on dress several times. Arthur couldn’t help but chuckle and shake his head at the sight of her running for him with a horrified expression. When she at last dove into the tent, the storm really started, almost violently.

“I told ya, girl…” The warm outlaw mumbled and pulled the frightened woman close, giving a quick kiss to the top of her head.

“Sorry for not paying attention… Not mad?”

“Not mad. Never mad.”

“Here ya go!” I happily handed Arvad the salt shaker and watched as he expertly sprinkled it into the broth. The vampire knight’s face was relaxed, his usual scowl replaced by a soft smile. I crossed my arms and leaned against the counter as he stirred the soup. “I love watching you cook,” I commented, stepping over to Arvad and pressing a kiss to his bicep.

“Hmm?”

“You just look so happy! And it makes me happy to see you happy.” I wrapped my arms around his waist. “Arvad, you’re so handsome. I love you.”

Arvad took a break from stirring the broth to give me a kiss. “I love you too, princess. My love… my darling… my angel.”
