The first Heinrix van Calox heard of the charges that had been laid against the Werserian family was when the Rogue Trader came striding off the lift from her quarters with her Seneschal on her heels.

Had circumstances been different, Heinrix would already have known. After Janus, he'd begun to put assets in place to keep him informed of the affairs of her protectorate to keep her safe as long as Inquisition allowed him to serve at her side. But they had only just escaped from Commorragh's clutches, and he had not been at his best since their desperate flight from the Dark City.

Heinrix's skin prickled with a fresh wash of anger, and his jaw clenched. The thought of Achilleas' betrayal still burned, and his treachery had shattered Heinrix's network of informants in the sector, leaving him almost as blind to the affairs of the Expanse as he had been in Commorragh, strung up in the fleshcrafter's lab.

So Heinrix hadn't been at his best since they had returned. Because of Achilleas, yes, but he'd been distracted for other reasons, too. He had allowed himself a great deal in that God-Emperor-forsaken place, so certain had he been that he would die there. And when he had not, when they had survived and escaped and returned to realspace, he had not stopped allowing himself more - allowing himself her.

In fact, he'd come up that same lift from her quarters just this morning, only a few hours before -

Anyway. The first Heinrix van Calox had heard of the charges laid against the Werserian family was when Orica strode past him with Abelard on her heels, demanding that her High Factotum procure her an outfit worthy of Rogue Trader.

Danrok greeted her with his customary cool bow. "Have I ever provided your Ladyship with anything that was not?"

Heinrix could see the righteous anger drain out of Orica at the subtle rebuke - he had never seen her sustain such an imperious emotion for long. Taking such a tone with her predecessor would no doubt have resulted in a lashing - or worse - for the High Factotum, but the man had served with Orica long enough now to know he had little to fear from her in that regard.

"You have not, High Factotum," she replied. "However, we have urgent business on the capital world, and it is of the utmost importance that I command the respect of the nobility of Dargonus while we are there."

Heinrix listened as she quietly explained to Danrok what had happened. Apparently, Orica had extended her personal protection to the Werserians, but her presence on the planet would be required to conclude the investigation and reach a final verdict.

"Say no more, your Ladyship," Danrok said with another bow. "You may leave the matter of your attire entirely to me."
