maybe im reading too deeply into this but i think its interesting the way tetra is viewed by people in the great sea.
a big example of this that is definitely missable is the spectacle isle cannon minigame. the guy there puts on an act, pretending to be gonzo and tetra while he tells you the rules and gives you your prize. the way he portrays gonzo, who is definitely very sensitive and caring, is gruff and rude and doubtful of your abilities, and hes also portrayed to be much more in charge. the way tetra is portrayed, though, is... just the complete opposite of how she actually is. he portrays her as caring, as a gentle voice of reason, as a lovestruck girl whos head-over-heels for link. i feel like this act, though unserious, is pretty telling of how shes seen by people who havent met her.
another thing is definitely how undisturbed people are by her. sure, maybe outset island doesnt get many visitors, and they dont understand the threat of pirates. even still, nobody is scared of her. she even points out to link that she is a pirate, and he just doesnt care. now this could definitely be that hes just very determined and maybe a bit inexperienced, but i cant help but think that her warnings just didnt go through also because shes just not intimidating.
hell, her own crew wont even call her "captain". sure, it could be personal preference, but with the way gonzo frets about her as well, as if she cant do anything on her own? if shes their captain, why wont they call her that?
i cant help but think that the reason shes rarely discussed by anyone, or feared by the general public and especially those who have personally had run-ins with her...
is because its embarrassing.
its embarrassing to have been threatened and robbed by a young girl. its embarrassing to have even been scared by her. its also embarrassing to even be indebted to her. nobody fears her, nobody respects her, her identity is hardly even acknowledged after she has the name "zelda" forced on her, and she is mocked and belittled behind her back.

this is, again, not counting stuff outside of wind waker, and not counting the writing either. its just very... interesting to me. just something i think about sometimes. spectacle isle guy when i fucking Get You.

for every incorrect interpretation of tetra i will throw an innocent korok into the forbidden forest. you wouldnt want that would you? those poor koroks. dont make me do this. stop calling her zelda and stop implying shes secretly zelda in any capacity. tetra and zelda are two different people. thank you.

i feel like a little critter in a glass box am i that fun to observe every once in a while
anyway i think if theyd met under different circumstances wind waker ganondorf and tetra could probably get along. i think ganondorf would see a lot of himself in her idk. like link is the outlier here hes the one neither of them can relate to, and king daphnes is... kinda awful to both of them too. idk just a thought, i think that could be interesting.

idk can we just stop pretending that it makes ANY sense that she would do this. even if she helped out somewhere why the fuck would she stay. rah.
okay so im just gonna dump all this here, i still have yet to play spirit tracks but when i do ill edit and add to it accordingly
so the flood that was brought upon hyrule was a "cleansing" flood that separated the reincarnating spirits from the triforce, a sign that the cycle was coming to an end. wind waker is the battle of the triforce, a final unification that destroyed the golden triangles for good, (as well as the end of the master sword), while spirit tracks is the battle of spirits, freeing them from their cycle of reincarnation. the battle of spirits takes place about a year or so after the battle of the triforce.
why does new hyrule still exist in this rewrite? well it ties in with something that ill explain right now. the royal family fled to higher ground to escape the flood, and were tasked with guarding the triforce of wisdom. at a certain point, however, the family split off. one side kept the triforce shards but shunned any association with the royal bloodline, believing it to be pointless. the other side retained all traditions and sought out a place to establish a new hyrule. this basically makes tetra and spirit tracks zelda distant, distant relatives, rather than... yeah. it also explains why the naming tradition stays intact. zelda, in this timeline, is the final reincarnation of the spirit that wields the light that seals the darkness.
both links serve different purposes here. one is tasked with finding the triforce of courage, whilst in the other dwells the spirit of the hero. they are not the same person.
this is true of ganondorf and ganon as well. in this ill just pretend malladus is ganon bc. well cmon just look at him. as for the vessel thing, well ganondorf isnt going to do the job. hes at the bottom of the ocean and a pretty long distance away.
whats phantom hourglass for then? idk there can be some other random evil threat. as a treat.

okay i guess the thing that spurred all this is just how out-of-character establishing a whole kingdom is for tetra. i mean think about. zelda was a name that was pushed upon her, as if "tetra" was just a disguise, why would she bring back that tradition? and she dreams of endless seas, yet the end of wind waker for some reason insists that shes attached to hyrule for some reason. like 1. she didnt even know king daphnes and 2. that kingdom was more like a cage for her than anything. and yet, she says "we can make a new hyrule!" why? i can understand link maybe wanting to, but tetra??? the only thing i could see influencing this is like. a sense of belonging? but thats implying she cares about being royalty, which again, in a world where that just doesnt matter anymore, why the hell would she???? also. king daphnes tells her not to, that hyrule needs to fade away for good. sure, maybe she doesnt respect authority, but its still like whyyyy why does she give a fuck. it makes no sense to me SHE DIDNT EVEN KNOW ABOUT ANY OF THIS UNTIL AFTER THE SECOND FORSAKEN FORTRESS VISIT!!!!!!
idk i hate when people wont call all that into question. shes perfectly content with being a pirate and exploring the seas, ganondorf confirms that. her, of all characters, founding a kingdom just doesnt make any fucking sense. nintendo just didnt know what to do with a character like her, and just decided to ruin her instead.
okay so im just gonna dump all this here, i still have yet to play spirit tracks but when i do ill edit and add to it accordingly
