I live in a country where we drive on the right, but it's also legal here to turn left on red if you're turning from a one-way onto a one-way. I don't ever do this because it feels wrong but I think that's an important possibility people don't usually consider

now that ive asked the question im kind of curious if everyone involved in the conversation is aware the "turning right on red" crucially cannot be missing the context of driving on the right side of the road. bc it's sounding like everyone going "that is crazy and dangerous" are all from countries where it's all left side driving and I haven't seen anyone bring up that youre typically only turning into the flow of traffic, not against. was not expecting so many people to have so many opinions when I just wanted to hear horror stories in the tags about drivers in Montreal and how righteously "petty in a kindergarten teacher" way the local government can be about it on local government sites.
