Frenchie

Synopsis: Born as a bastard son to an aristocrat & his servant, Frenchie has spent much of his life neither being seen nor heard. He grew up in the servants quarter with his mum and spent much of his free time singing to flowers of the manors gardens. Determined to see the world, he would eventually leave home scraping and scamming to get by. However, his prospects have much improved since then. Having learned to sail while serving on the Queen Anne's Revenge, Frenchie has gone from musician to captain in a very short period of time. Was there a possible mistake when counting the votes? ...I guess it depends on the type of work. I think he likes bossing people around, but he's not actually a leader and his "orders" don't make much sense. He just likes the little power trip. But I think deep down, if it's done out of the kindness of someone's heart, he's actually really touched by friends and s/o's doing acts of service for him.

does your muse enjoy giving people a hand with work?

Yes, but it has to be his decision. Don't tell him what to do (unless you're Kali) he'll fuck off and do the opposite just to be a dick. Ironically he's more likely to help out if you tell him to "get the fuck over here and help" rather than ask nicely.

Absolutely. I think he's very monogamous and prefers to dedicate his time to one person. Getting him to focus on one person, or more likely, getting one to tolerate him long enough to realise he is worth their attention, is another thing entirely.

"YOU COULD ALWAYS smoke without me." Even as he says it, Frenchie knows Izzy wouldn't. The older man treated routines as if they were sacred. He preferred a bit more spontaneity. Although he had to admit this one had grown on him. Izzy would disrupt his morning routine by staying up into the wee hours, so he could see him one last time before bed. It warmed Frenchie every time. "Start without me."

"Hey, babe, where are my- never mind." The meticulous organisation of his drawer was a bit much, but he hadn't had the heart to tell Izzy. "Thanks for finishing the laundry." The comment was thrown over his shoulder as he sidestepped the unopened box of Izzy's things. The bathroom was where Izzy's Spartan lifestyle died. Hair product, moisturisers, aftershave, and that was just what would fit on their counter. There was a hair dryer worth about a month's rent- commandeered by John when Izzy had first moved in. Izzy hadn't touched any of it for weeks. Putting them back in the box would have made washing up easier, but he couldn't bring himself to do that.

When he came back out, Izzy was still lying there with the cigarette between his lips. The moment Izzy spotted him ready, he lit up. The smell of tobacco mixed with the softness of Izzy's voice created an intoxicating atmosphere. Frenchie carefully climbed over Izzy, plucking the cigarette in exchange for a kiss. He relaxed into bed as he took a drag. "Mhm, Swede was working today. Jackie gave him a glam up. Roach thinks he's hot now, so does Lucius," he shrugged and handed the smoke back to Izzy. "Fang stopped by wanting to know how you're doing." He gave Izzy an affectionate nudge. "I know your phone is an antique, but it's still capable of texting him back." The grumbled defence of his Nokia made Frenchie smile.

Frenchie lazily kissed down Izzy's neck until he reached the annoyingly high t-shirt collar. He stopped to give the shirt a disappointed tug before settling his head onto Izzy's chest. The heaviness of sleep began to cover him like a blanket. "Gio came in wearing some sort of leather harness. Guess he got his nights mixed. Still stayed until closing." Frenchie buried his face into the older man's chest, hoping what he said next would be too muffled for Izzy to catch. "He invited me to watch him play tomorrow night. Thought it might be fun."

HE HATES ADMITTING IT, but izzy’s hearing just isn’t as good as it used to be. another delightful side effect of growing older. but he's been waiting for the familiar creak of a loose board in the hallway, the key turning in the lock that signifies frenchie’s return. so izzy's book is laid aside at the first sounds of approach, his eyes eagerly trained on the door well before it opens. 

& despite the string of profanity that comes from his lips as he stretches the soreness out of his stiff muscles ( he’d lost track of what time it was about three chapters ago ), izzy can’t help but smile when frenchie enters & returns to their bed, leaving gentle kisses on his face. but it’s still not quite enough, & izzy's arms reach out to draw frenchie in to press their lips together. izzy had missed him. & even when frenchie pulls away, he doesn’t go far, lets himself be held close for awhile.

❝ can’t go to sleep without you, ❞ izzy insists, jaw set stubbornly as if to discourage any argument on the matter. he’s not lying – ever since he'd moved into the tiny two-bedroom apartment that frenchie was already sharing with john & roach, izzy had found it more than a little difficult to fall asleep alone. ❝ besides, who else is gonna share my before-bed smoke with me ? ❞ over the weeks, he & frenchie have developed something of a nightly ritual, & izzy was nothing if not a creature of habit.

reluctantly ( & only because he knows frenchie won’t leave again so soon ), izzy lets his arms fall from around his partner's shoulders, reaching instead to pluck the foil pack off the nightstand. he’s been good today – only two are missing from this morning. it’s easy for izzy to chain-smoke, especially when he’s confined to bed all day. but he knows frenchie worries about its effect on his recovery. the amputation is closed, but what remains of his leg is still not strong enough to hold his weight. & with no one except john & fang capable of carrying him down the stairs on their own, izzy has little choice but to sit in bed & wait for frenchie to come back from work most evenings. but he’s home now, & izzy gives a contended hum as he relaxes back against frenchie's chest, cigarette perched between his lips. ❝ you have a good night ? see anyone interesting down at the bar ? ❞ izzy asks as he lights up.

He leaned into the hand on his shoulder before shrugging it off. "You were stalking me like a... like a stalker!" He wanted to be angrier than he was, but anger was hard when standing in the chilled night air. Ed crossed his arms and stepped back. The sense of violation was soothed by the fact that Izzy had spent hours waiting in the cold- Izzy hated the cold. That was how much he cared. "So what? Kissing me is wrong, but watching me fuck isn't?" He shivered so hard his teeth chattered. "Fuck, man, you're impossible sometimes."
