"Oh, my goodness, what?" she sputtered in shock, the answer being an unexpected one. Phil would never even hurt a fly, as far. as she knew, nevermind punch someone. But, in the name of his sister, she supposed it was quite nice of him to stick up for her like that. "Is she okay, too? No one hurt her, right?" Wendy supposed she would've heard that much, as it wouldn't have gone without being said if Lil had gotten into some sort of altercation. "Well, I'm happy to hear you're okay, and you talked it over, and hopefully no retaliation is to come of it. It's quite noble of you, to stand up for her, if the guy deserved it, and things between you and Lil are fine, too. That's all that matters, I think." She paused, hoping he wouldn't think she was upset with him, or anything of the sort. The boys had gotten into far worse, as far as Wendy was allowed to know. "Am I allowed to know what happened, between her and ... the guy with the black eye, I assume?"

Spending time just simply sitting together and reading with his girlfriend was surprisingly becoming one of Phil’s new favorite past times. He was a significantly slower reader than Wendy, a fact that wasn’t surprising at all, but she never seemed bothered by the bit of extra time he took to catch up to where she was at. With his attention fully drawn into the new version of the chapter that he was reading, he didn’t even notice the way that she was watching his hands.
At her question if something happened, Phil’s eyes raise to meet hers, confusion filled in his own. He looks around for a moment at the mostly empty cafe surrounding them, wondering what she could be talking about, but before he has a chance to ask Wendy’s fingertips brush against his knuckles and he realizes exactly what she meant. “Oh, ahhh, no. Not really,” he answers, frowning slightly as he worries how she was going to take the news of his semi-fight with Dash. “I’m fine. I just kinda punched a guy? I wasn’t supposed to and I only partially regret it, but it’s not gonna happen again. We talked things over and now I’m letting Lil take the lead on whatever happens next.” Sharing only bits and pieces of what happened, he knew she was going to want the whole story, but he figured he’d wait until she actually asked for it. Mostly because he’d feel kinda guilty just spilling his sister’s wreck of a love life without having been at least prompted.

Showing up to what could've been considered a date with a boy who wasn't her boyfriend could've been strange, but it wasn't, because it was Peter. At least, that's what Wendy had told herself the entire week leading up to it. She'd told Phil that she was spending the night at the boys' apartment, but had left out the larger details, knowing that she couldn't bring herself to tell him how guilty she felt about this. She didn't have any reason to: they were just friends, and she knew her boyfriend wouldn't ask her to stop being close with any of the boys, including Peter. Maybe it would simply take some time to get over feeling like this, and back to who they were: Peter and Wendy, the best of friends.
"That was brilliant," she gushed as they exited the theater, having been left in awe and disappointment that she hadn't gotten to read the book sooner. "What a good choice. You know, I didn't think that would be your style, but I enjoyed it." Most of what she watched at their apartment was comedy, the kind she would roll her eyes at while they laughed. "Are the others home, do you know? Should we bring anything back for them while we're out? I have my things in the car, to stay over, by the way, including the things to make breakfast."
Tumblr media
"No," he shook his head, feeling the tension knotting his shoulders. He didn't want anyone else around this time. Peter craved her undivided attention, just the two of them. It might have seemed selfish, especially considering her involvement with someone else, but Peter had never been one to strictly adhere to rules. He always found a way back to her, as he always did. "Just us this time," he clarified, hoping to convey his desire clearly. "A read? It's a book?" he inquired, he knew little about it. The movie simply sounded intriguing, and he wanted to try something new.
Peter couldn't contain his laughter as she spoke, nearly spraying soda on his face. "He was good, wasn't he?" he chuckled, thoroughly entertained by the situation. Despite the risks, they had enjoyed themselves, making the heist worthwhile in the end. "We had a blast… all thanks to you."

The last thing she had expected was for someone to be waiting for her when she'd gotten home, especially not the blonde in her driveway, and it was only for a moment that Wendy turned to panic mode. She feared something had gone wrong at the apartment, the two of them needing to turn right around in her car, but the moment she opened the door, Wendy was met with confusion. She hadn't done anything wrong, at least, not that she could remember, unless this had to do with the movie she'd gone to with Peter while she was still dating Phil.
"Is everything okay?" she asked, simply to cover her bases and be sure that nothing had gone wrong. "No one's hurt, right? None of the boys?" But, the explanation couldn't have had anything to do with something back at the apartment, not when she hadn't been there since the weekend prior. "Is this about the movie I went to with Peter? I'm still dating Phil, he'd just asked me to go, as a friend. He also invited me to sleep over, also in a completely platonic fashion, which , I recognize is unusual, but I hoped that Peter and I could be mature enough that we understood that, since I'm dating Phil, there is a boundary that can't be crossed," Wendy explained, hoping she had guessed on her accusation correctly.

While their time together at Pacifica’s engagement party had been cut far shorter than Tyla had wanted, considering she hardly had even the slightest chance at getting any real information out of her friend about the new boy in her life, Tootles was determined to make up for that loss today. None of the boys had said anything regarding this Phil fellow, his name not even once being whispered in the apartment, which was almost as telling of a fact than if any of them had spilled the beans. Because it meant they either knew something and were desperately trying to keep it to their chest, or Wendy hadn’t informed any of them about what was going on with her giant of a date. All of that together had Tyla’s journalistic instincts screaming that something bigger was at play here than just a simple date to a mutual friend’s engagement party, like the brunette had tried to play the night off as being.
Perhaps it was a bit weird and even borderline stalkerish, to wait outside of the Darling house for the other girl to show up from wherever it was that she had been running off to earlier in the day - but Tootles knew this was a conversation that had to be done in private. Away from the ears of the other lost boys - or one particular lost boy, at the very least. And there weren’t many places that Tyla often ran into the brunette without the rest of their friend group around. So she was left to take semi-drastic actions. Ones that seemed to actually, thankfully, pay off as Wendy finally pulled in the driveway of her home. The moment the car was in park, Tootles was jumping to her feet and practically running over to meet the other girl at the driver's side door. “Oh you have so much explaining to do,” she proclaims, not bothering to hold back and also not giving any hint at what she was talking about. Which was part of the plan - leave the accusation open ended and wait to see what Wendy brings up as her first point.

It wasn't surprising that Wendy didn't know much about Scamp and Angelica's relationship after hearing that they'd met in college; by that point, she had nearly lost complete touch with the eldest of the Tramp siblings. She did know, though, that he'd left the island for a while, and had apparently returned back to home and to his girlfriend. Or, maybe they'd been together the whole time--either way, she would find out either from the blonde herself or her boyfriend later. "That's really sweet. I'm glad to hear he's happy, and that you two are still together after all this time." Though she had a feeling that the bond between Angelica and Phil was much like siblings, with the same kind of sarcastic banter that she could see between some of the boys she was friends with, it was sweet to see the blonde soften a bit, even if followed by swearing Wendy to secrecy. "Your secret's safe with me," she assured her with a symbolic twist of her fingers on her lips. "Though, I know something happened with him and Sharpay Evans, right? As a joke, he said. I know you were in a movie with her, and the three of you are in the one shooting soon, right? I don't know her personally, but one of my friends plays the guitar for her, and Phil has said nothing but great things. Perhaps I'll meet her if I'm allowed to visit you all on set. You know, I think he's a little nervous, but don't tell him I said that, either. I think you and Sharpay being there will ease it a bit," Wendy admitted, though she had a feeling her boyfriend would be just fine.
Tumblr media
⋆⋆ ✶ ⋆⋆
She'd be asking Scamp about her later when she went over to his house. Whatever inside scoop he could provide on Wendy would be one Angelica needed to hear. So far she liked the girl but that wasn't going to stop her from finding out anything she could about her. It had become part of her personality to know everything about everyone she could. "Oh my gosh, cute, I'd love that! I couldn't tell you the last time we went on a double date. Probably after we met in college, actually," Angelica replied thinking back to when Scamp stumbled his way into her heart. "In my mind, we were supposed to just hook up, hang out, and of course, I caught feelings." He'd been the only one to break through her armor. Even after their time apart, there hadn't been anyone else who made her feel like he did. Wendy's story was a little more romantic but Angelica found it hard to believe that was possible with Phil Deville. "He will literally do anything for the people he cares about. He's interested in whatever makes them happy," she gushed on the boy for a second. While he had never been anyone that appealed to her, Angelica knew that he would love with all his heart. "Don't tell him I said that though or he'd never let me hear the end of it but it's like so cute that he met someone as pretty and nice as you. Usually, he has really bad taste."

Wendy nodded at her question, finding it rather strange now that they hadn't met before, given all the connections that could've come before Phil. "Pacifica and I are friends from school. I got along better with Scamp's sisters, though, than him, back then. You know, I have two brothers, and he has all sisters," she explained with a shrug. "How is it that you and Scamp met, by the way? We're not really in touch anymore, but, of course, if you'd ever want to go out with Phil and I, I'd love that," she offered, genuinely hoping that the blonde would accept. As for the same question on her own side, Wendy assumed that one of her boyfriend's childhood friends must've known about his side job, potentially including the names of his former partners, which was a topic Wendy wasn't entirely keen discussing in public, given how recently she'd found out. "My friends were hosting a party at their apartment, and he was sitting in one of my friend's rooms where I was looking to just get some space from the crowd. We just started talking, and kind of hit things off," Wendy told her, reminiscing fondly on the moment when she'd met the boy who would change more for her than he knew. "Honestly, he's been so wonderful. When we were still friends, I was working on writing a book, mostly at the cafe where he works, and he would come over all the time with tea, and read my drafts, like he really cared about them. I've never had anyone be so interested in what I was doing like that before."
Tumblr media

Her first impression was how cute she was, surprised Phil had been able to convince a girl like her that he wasn't a booger eater. Angelica was still pretty certain she saw him picking his nose not that many years ago. No matter how old they got she was never going to forget the images of them as children. Most of which included him eating bugs from the backyard like they were Cheez-Its. If Wendy wanted to kiss those same lips then that was her problem but Angelica wanted to get to know her if she was going to be joining the other rugrats. "No way, you have to make sure with stuff like that," she said ushering them to sit back down. At the mention of the party the blonde cracked a smile, her relationship with Pacifica not being quite so cut and dry. Of course, that wasn't anything that she needed to know right away. As Wendy continued to explain the smile only widened, more information becoming clear that made her surprised they hadn't met before now. "You don't say, go figure." Angelica took her wine glass, swirling it in her palm as she spoke, "Pacifica and I have worked together before so yeah, we're friends. And you know my boyfriend too? I can't believe he never mentioned that when I told him you and Phil were dating." She'd have to grill him on that later and see what insight he could provide. "How did you and Phil end up meeting again?"

Shelly was being far more crude about all this than she'd ever been used to hearing from anyone, nevermind a girl who she was sure could woo either her boyfriend or Peter into wanting her over Wendy if she really wanted to. This was about as uncomfortable as she'd ever been around the other girl, now having something she felt like she needed to protect. "We've barely been dating a month," she pointed out, the beginnings of a rather weak defense. In truth, Wendy had thought about it quite a lot: when she would be ready to take the next step with him, and the fear that Phil would get bored of her before she was truly ready. People had slept with him before with far less time getting to know him, as evidence had shown, even though he'd insisted that he was more than willing to wait for her. "I would consider that a compliment if it wasn't so clear that you're trying to make me uncomfortable," she conceded, the first time she'd ever admitted aloud the effect that the blonde had on her. Wendy honestly wondered what she'd do with practically handing the win to her, deciding today that she was not going to let Shelly's words get to her.

Even if Wendy wanted to make it sound better, that was more or less the truth of the matter. She turned him down and picked someone else. Shelly blinked at her, unconvinced, but nodding to let Wendy convince herself that was all it had been. "Okay, yeah, whatever you say." All that the blonde knew for sure was that meant Peter was still on the market. That's what mattered after all. She returned to her sewing, looking down to work allowing her to hide the smile that had taken over. Silence spoke volumes and especially Wendy's. Whatever she didn't say meant more than what she did or Shelly had come to think so. "So that's a no," she responded simply, not even bothering to look up from her work. Sex wasn't something she felt uncomfortable discussing in public but it wasn't a surprise the other was a prude. In fact, she'd expected it and for once was disappointed to find out she was right. "How could you be around a guy like that and not want to climb him like a tree? You're stronger than me, Winnifred."

The feeling of simply having a boyfriend was one Wendy was still trying to get used to. There was someone to constantly talk to, to tell all of her daily ups and downs to, who wouldn't mind hearing any of it. In fact, he'd even volunteered to do just that, by asking her out. What Wendy had learned over the past few weeks was that Phil was a lover of the little things in life, and it taught her to slow down and appreciate the simplicity of her surroundings, too. Thoughts of the future had plagued her long before she met her boyfriend, but, with him, she felt so at ease with the present.
They were both just reading, each a copy of Wendy's most recently edited first chapter of her book, when she noticed something on his hand that had been previously lost in the shuffle of coffee cups while Phil had been working. Now that he was on his break, though, his hands still around the packet she'd given him, the bruise had become all the more clear. "Did something happen?" she asked, setting down her page to brush his knuckles lightly with her fingertips. "You're not hurt, are you?"
Tumblr media
The correction that arranging a marriage for someone and then forcing them to follow through with it wasn’t illegal unsurprisingly didn’t make Phil feel any better. Nor did the reminder that there was nothing anyone could do about it. Sure, they could both be there for the blonde and try to support her and her hopeful future happiness like Wendy suggested, but that didn’t feel like enough. How were they supposed to just sit back and pretend like this was all normal and okay? “So wait - you think she knew about this? Like… for a long time?” he asks, frowning even further at the clarification. “Like her parents have always wanted this?” It made sense now, why Pacifica had wanted to originally hurt her folks by making a sex tape with him. Back when it had happened, Phil hadn’t realized just how deep and dark the relationships ran in the Northwest family. “That’s kinda fucked up…” An understatement, but it seemed like Wendy had also come around to accept what was happening and he didn’t want to necessarily risk upsetting her either by not being alright with the whole situation.

Wendy's face lit brightly with excitement at her friend's news, the pair having a remarkably good night so far. She wasn't sure she would be entirely welcomed at the singer's shows if Tink was bound to be in attendance from the front row, but, at least, she had her boyfriend now to get them in so she could see Slightly perform. "No way! Oh, that's such good news, I'm so happy for you. You're going to become a real rock star, aren't you?" she teased, though Wendy fully believed it. She could see the blonde becoming big, especially once the island opened up, and Slightly was bound to be behind her if he now had an in. "Seriously, you don't have anyone you have your eye on? We need to put Phil's good looks to good use if he can help you find someone. However, I wouldn't mind a nice serenade while the two of us are on a date." Wendy let out a laugh at the thought, despite hoping he would answer otherwise. "I just don't know how I'm going to tell Peter about all of this. I don't want him to be upset with me, but, I don't know, I'm quite satisfied with my choice. I think Phil's wonderful, and I think I could be really happy with him, but ... I'm just scared he won't take it well."

Out of the Lost Boys, Slightly had been the one who stood up when their fearless leader was busy. Even when he didn't say anything he watched those around him. He couldn't recall when he'd last seen Wendy this smiley, maybe it was back near the beginning when they'd all just met. It was a simpler time then when none of them were afraid to grow up and now it was coming whether they wanted to or not. Each year that passed he saw their family age, only Peter being left behind, and he saw it now in Wendy. "Good because he doesn't have a choice," he boasted with a laugh. "Only if you want to be served by the best waiter around, though I gotta warn you I'm taking less shifts these days. Sharpay asked me to help her out with her new music." The smile was creeping through his confidence, unable to hide how chuffed he'd been that she offered him a spot on her team. After waiting for a chance, he wasn't going to screw it up. "I don't know if I have anyone to bring on that besides my guitar," Slightly laughed. "Maybe Clifford can give me a hand."

What Wendy had said hadn’t seemed like what the other girl had been expecting to hear. If she wasn’t so conscious about her decision, it would’ve been a welcomed boost of confidence, to think that she could’ve been the only to get rejected amongst the two. “I didn’t turn him down, I—I had to make a choice, on who to pursue,” Wendy admitted, growing more uncomfortable by the minute. She felt like she could disappear, with how embarrassed she felt to be simply telling the other girl the truth. Strangely, she could tell what should’ve been an insult was something of a compliment, though it didn’t make Wendy feel any better about the situation. She’d felt like she was going to be labeled some way since she’d made her decision, and Shelly had simply nailed the one Wendy had been the most fearful to hear. Her mouth opened a bit at the final question, appalled by forward the blonde was being. Though she knew exactly what Shelly was asking, she feared that pretending not to know could be even more embarrassing than simply denying it. “That’s a rather personal question,” she stated simply, “I would rather not discuss, um, in public. I hope you can understand.” That was the best out she had, and Wendy could only now pray that Shelly might respect a shred of her privacy to let her keep that to herself.
Tumblr media

The last thing Shelly expected was to get interesting information out of the girl beside her, Wendy's truth bringing her attention up from her stitches. It hadn't been what she expected to hear which was what made it all the more exciting. "Wait, you turned Peter down?" A laugh was bubbling before she had even stopped speaking. "Now that is rich. I'm impressed, Winnie, I didn't know you had it in you. You're more of a slut than you let on, I like it," she smiled giving her a bump with her hip. Even if her tone didn't show it, Shelly was more impressed than not. It wasn't every day that a girl got the man she'd been pining after and another one to boot, coming out with a new boyfriend and the upper hand on the other. "Good for you." Shelly hummed before returning to her work, threading the needle through the shoe as Slightly set down her regular order which she thanked him for with a sickly sweet smile. It was Wendy's response to her boyfriend that brought Shelly back to remembering why she didn't like her. "Come on, don't play dumb with me. I know you're smarter than that." Her eyes scanned over to her, an eyebrow arched, before going back to her work. "Have you put out yet?"

"Oh, I don't know if I could pull that off," she replied sheepishly, in reference to the thought that she might be able to make a living just from her own writing. "Though, I do try to hold myself over with writing news stories here and there, just a few a week for the paper. I suppose that's what I'll continue to do in the meantime until I find something stable." Wendy had actually been wanting to interview him for some time about his business, as they featured some local ones every now and then. Going to do a feature on Hook and his store, though, wasn't something she could get away with without feeling like she would be betraying all of her friends. "Is that so? I had no idea, actually, which is ... my fault, for never asking," Wendy mumbled. She had never even spoken to him this long before, or shared anything about their lives beyond knowing just the surface of each other. Perhaps there was much more to the man they'd all spent so much time actively avoiding. "I don't know why, I suppose I had just assumed that most of your friends were the men you worked with, hence my surprise seeing you here, and hearing you're friends with Belle. Though, then it would be fair to think the same of me, and the boys, but that's not true, either."

There had been stories told about James Hook and his ongoing rivalry with the Lost Boys. He knew Wendy wouldn't have been safe from the whispers, the children she called friends probably having warned her about him but none of it phased him. As far as James was concerned, the only thing that mattered was the moment, everything else could be sorted out later. If she wanted to believe what she'd heard then all he could do was show her that she'd only had one side of the story. "That's if you even need to get a real job, free-lance writing is actually a lot more popular these days and could provide you the means to live while you write your next book," he said simply, kicking his leg up onto the footstool in front of him. For being a man who spent most of his time cooped up on a boat or in an office he was actually quite well-read. All of that time was spent with a nose in a book or observing what he could of the world around him. He figured her idiots had made him sound like he had the same IQ level which he wanted to make clear wasn't the case. "No, please, it's nice to hear that you want to do something with your life. Far too many people your age let their dreams fall to the waste side and work in a cubical until they retire," he stated simply, lifting a cigarette box from his pocket before groaning in realization of where he was and returning it. Even the thought of dying like that made him need to smoke. "A lot of downtime in my profession," James replied with a chuckle. "She special ordered a few on saltwater fish and coral for me. I've been upgrading my aquariums, not all my fish are caught to consume."

Despite believing that she would have Peter in her life, for the rest of her life, the words that she associated with spending a romantic life with someone still stung Wendy a bit as he said them. She could've been hearing them in a different context entirely, had she wanted to. "A theatre? It's a date," she agreed, the words coming out of her mouth before she could correct herself. "Of course I'll go with you--I haven't watched it, no, but I have heard it's quite the epic to read. You don't want to invite any of the others to come with us? I don't mind, either way, of course. Whatever you want to do," Wendy suggested, though she thought some buffers may be good for both of them.
Wendy hadn't been over the apartment in quite a while, compared to the frequency she was used to, but the one person she'd been somewhat avoiding now wanted her back, and that was as much permission as she needed. "I'd love to stay over, if you'll have me. I haven't in so long. Oh--you know what? Just to commemorate it, I'll make breakfast in the morning, too. I'll have Sam come with me to the store while he explains how he deceived me into giving you all the Northwest door codes," she teased as she brought fries onto her plate.
Tumblr media
Peter smirked, reaching his hand to mess with her hair. “You have a lifetime to spend with me, relax,” he teased, smiling back at her. Wendy had wonderful eyes, he thought, quickly shaking his head. It wasn’t good to dwell on such thoughts; they often complicated things. He forced himself not to voice it aloud, one of the very few times he kept a thought to himself, which was almost never. “Sure, Friday works, and no, we’re going to an actual theatre,” he continued, switching the plates on the table and making sure she got hers. “I’ve saved up for this new screening I’ve been wanting to see. Figured you’d like to see it with me,” he suggested, taking a fry from the shared platter in front of them.
“Then you can stay the night at our place. I’ll make Slightly tone his voice down this time,” he added. Peter was trying to keep it casual — normal, like the way they used to be, and he liked to believe he was doing it right, except… he was simply making excuses to make her stay longer. With them, with him. Was it selfish? Probably, but that’s exactly what he desired. “Have you ever watched Dune?” he continued.

Wendy didn't have any doubt about how her friend was going to react to the news, especially with how things had been going lately in their friend group. Dating Peter would have created such a divide, she feared, that Wendy would never want to start between the boys. Remaining the family they'd created was much more important than individual happiness, even if she didn't think she could find it with Phil. Coming so close to having come between them had been too much for comfort. "I'm glad you think so," she said sincerely, though she broke into a laugh at his new nickname for her boyfriend. "Is that his name now? He would go along with it, too, you know. Maybe we'll have to come by Flo's and you can crash while on your break," she said in compromise with a nudge to his shoulder. "Or, we could simply make it a double date, if you happen to find one of your own," Wendy added, raising her brow. "I hereby give you permission to force Phil to be your personal wingman, if you should need it."

Wendy had a special place in all of their hearts, the Lost Boys hadn't been complete without her as their motherly figure, even if she was their age. She had helped them get their lives together or at least, Slightly thought so. He knew they were a handful and that Tink wished vile things upon her but it didn't go unappreciated that she stuck around anyway. When everything started to crumble upon the confession of their girl's feelings towards Peter, he worried the family he'd come to trust would disappear. What she started to explain could've gone either way but he exhaled a sigh of relief upon realization of where it was going. Slightly matched her smile with one of his own, just happy to see her glowing again. "He's pretty alright, Wen," he said about her new boyfriend. In the short conversations they'd had, Slightly could see them getting along without a hitch, not that he'd tell Peter that yet. "Well, thanks for telling me, your secret's safe with me." He locked his lips and threw away the invisible key. "I am so happy for you, and Clifford too but mostly you. When do I get to come on one of these dates? I am a great third wheel, you know," he joked.

Wendy let out a sigh as the blonde continued to call her by the wrong name, controlling the urge to roll her eyes at her. "Who told you that?" she questioned, immediately turning her attention from her laptop to the accusation that so happened to be a true one. There was only one person who she could think of who might gain from giving that information to Shelly to use against her, and Wendy hadn't spoken to her since Peter had rejected her. Unfortunately for Wendy, she couldn't entirely reject what Shelly had said, as, in short, it was practically what she'd done to Peter. "I liked him, too. It just didn't work out," she replied, still keeping to the truth. It was disconcerting to think that there might be other girls with eyes on her now boyfriend, even if she had no doubt that Phil would never cheat on her, or anything like that. What concerned her more was Wendy's own envy and insecurity taking over eventually. She'd never gotten very far with Shelly using reason, though--perhaps it was time to play dumb, for once. "Phil's wonderful," she agreed, "I'm not sure what you mean, though. I don't intend to keep any kind of grip on him, he's a grown person."

It was made clear to her that she was getting under the other's skin. That itself brought a smirk to her lips while she began sewing the ribbon into the side of the shoe. "Sure, if you say so, you can have your secrets too, Winnifred," the blonde replied even though her gaze stayed down at her work, having lost interest in whatever she was doing. That was half the fun anyway. She was still smart, smart enough to know that Shelly had come to visit. Wendy had eyes on the Lost Boys all the time or at least Shelly thought so. Her grip on them was so tight she'd feel suffocated by her always looming presence. She urged them to grow up in ways the blonde didn't think was necessary. "You know Peter isn't the only Lost Boy, why is it always about him? Didn't you reject him anyway? I heard he liked you and you were the one who turned him down." The words came out as sweet as she'd imagined, only then looking up to meet the eyes of the girl who had it all for so long. "Not a bad fish you caught though, better keep a tight grip on him," she said with her smile curling up mischievously at the edges. Not that she had made any plans to take her boyfriend but in case she changed her mind. Besides, a little empty threat wouldn't hurt her.

Wendy knew it would be his reaction to her decision not to order until he'd gotten there, but she couldn't have done it without feeling a bit guilty. Now, though, she felt a bit silly for thinking that he would care. "Peter, it's alright," she insisted, giving the waiter an apologetic smile as she handed her menu back to him. "The longer we have to wait, the longer I get to spend with you, so, I don't mind." Not that she thought he would run away, but he'd practically done that the last time they'd seen each other, so it couldn't be completely ruled out.
She let out a laugh at his level of shock over the news, not even a bit surprised that he hadn't known about their friend's relationship. What made her smile falter, though, was the comment about not being in one himself, and the plans she'd made with Phil for the weekend that had her already a bit busy. It could've easily been with Peter that both truths would change, but she'd made up her mind, and it was too late now. "I've got plans on Saturday, but I could come by Friday night, if you're free," she offered. "I haven't been around your place in a while, I've, um, missed it, around there."

Peter gave her a confused look, followed by a smile and a slight shake of his head. “Wendy, when you’re hungry, you can eat. It’s just me,” he said gently. She was raised in such a posh, perfect life that her needs always came second to maintaining appearances — and Peter knew that. “Don’t wait again if you’re hungry, okay?” He quickly snapped his fingers to get the attention of the waiter. Peter looked at her in anticipation as they waited for her to place her order, following his. “Oh, and a bit quick for the lady, thanks buddy,” he requested, flashing a charismatic smile at the waiter before turning back to her.
“A year?!” He exclaimed, “Holy shit.” Peter placed his hand on his head, absolutely shocked that it had been that long and he had no idea. He didn’t know whether to laugh at the fact that he only knew now or to be confused about how Sam even got a girlfriend in the first place. He didn’t have one. No lost boys had one, and yet their youngest was the first to enter that unknown territory. Ironic, it seemed. “Ah well, that’s the mess of relationships,” he sighed, “Glad I’m not in one,” he added. There was a moment of pause as the food began to arrive at their table before Peter broke the silence. “Hey, any plans for this weekend? Wanna join me watch a movie?”

With the simple truth of never having a boyfriend before, and the only boy she'd ever been interested in sharing all of her own friends, Wendy hadn't thought about the people she would now be meeting given her relationship with Phil. The first to reach out to her hadn't been his sister, like she'd expected, but a friend of the twins' from their childhood. The place Angelica had brought her hadn't been one Wendy had been to before, though she'd heard quite a bit about it being a more upscale place that Pacifica was familiar with. With what she hoped was an appropriate outfit for somewhere like this, and an arrival just on time, Wendy could only pray now that she'd make a good impression. She slid into her seat as soon as she found the blonde, immediately feeling herself begin to blush. "Oh, that's--you're too kind," she insisted, returning a smile. "You, too, seriously, though I think it's my own fault I haven't met you yet--I'd taken quite a while to decide whether I wanted to go out with him or not," Wendy admitted, taking the glass of wine in her hand as she settled into her seat. "You were at Pacifica's party, too, he said? She's a close friend of mine, from school, and my parents actually used to be friends with the Tramps when we were children--you're dating Scamp, I heard?" It was a strange web of connection and it was remarkable how they hadn't run into each other sooner.

Angelica was the one who reached out to Phil's girlfriend, wanting to meet her instead of just staring them down from the other side of the party. It didn't surprise her that Phil hadn't introduced them since the blonde wasn't always the kindest in her words. That being said she hadn't planned to scare the girl away, more curious what it was that Wendy saw in the booger-eater. There was no better way to get to know a girl than over a glass of wine or so Angelica thought. If the industry taught her anything it was to be on time and to look good which she made sure of, expecting Wendy to be punctual from what she'd heard about her. There wasn't too much to go on but she planned to change that. Once the girl had arrived, Angelica waved her to the table, readily tapping the stool beside her. "Look at you, you're like so cute. Seriously, how did Phil pull you?" She'd never seen the appeal of him but the blonde had also been there when he was eating worms in Tommy's backyard. "It's so nice to finally meet you, he's been hiding you from me for long enough. You can't keep anything from me, you'll learn that quick." The blonde giggled at her own nature of being. Angelica wasn't everyone's cup of tea but it never changed her, Phil's new girlfriend's opinion being no different.
