i'm very opinionated on baby birds in game

that thang? awful. terrible. forced cuteness. looks ripe for selling shitty overpriced plushies. uncanny. does not match the game's aesthetic at all. it's an entirely unrelated species to adult chocobos, which (in the game) have the usual chunky beaks. baby birds tend to have oversized beaks and they just... grow into them. not that. that thing is cursed.

this thing? absolutely perfect. captures the perfect whimsy and joy of a sentient ball of lint. it's cute in the way baby birds are cute, which is to say that it's not very cute but somehow it's endearing and whimsiful nonetheless

actually i dearly love chocobos and i think FFIX's had the right idea with a baby one. the cuteness here works bc the game's aesthetics are more stylized, so it fits with the rest of the models. it's adorable, but it also HAS the right degree of scrunglyness. the really big beak with a mouth that extends under the eye. the fact it looks like a bird and not a weird chibi bird anthro. peak.
