hello! friends, mutuals, followers, everyone! i don't know how to do this and i wish more than anything that i didn't have a reason to do it but i am officially desperate for help so here i am

my situation is this, last december my dad had a heart attack. he got along on meds for a while but last month he had another episode. he stayed at the hospital for a week, and he got a procedure (catheterization) done for 5.000 dollars. all our savings amounted to little more than a thousand, and the rest we had to borrow from four different family members. unfortunately, that procedure wasn't enough, it just showed that there's a very significant obstruction in his heart. the surgery he needs now (a coronary bypass) isn't even done in our city, we'll have to travel to another state and stay at least a week. the surgery costs 15.000 dollars

now you might know I'm venezuelan, and if you know anything about this country you probably know about the horrible economic crisis that's been going on for years. both of my parents are public workers, their salary literally equals about $8 monthly. there are bonuses and I have my job but that's only enough for us to get through each month. it's just impossible for us to get this kind of money, private loans would take everything we make together monthly in interests, none of our family members can loan us that much money, we already owe them. we keep messaging foundations and stuff but we're running out of options and i need to start asking for donations

any help, no matter how small, would make a huge difference for us. you'd be literally helping me save my dad's life. if we're friends, mutuals, just existing in this community together, if you've read my fics, smiled because of my posts, if you're just a kind person who could spare a little to help me, i would be so so so grateful forever and ever and ever 🙏

Still cannot believe people out there are claiming lottie couldn’t possibly have romantic feelings for laura lee when they’re canonically like this:

Prefacing this by saying that this is not that serious and everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but I’ve seen so many “laura lee is a saint” takes lately. Have you guys considered that she’s literally just a girl. Also, why is it that you can’t see lottielee being together just because laura lee is religious? And the reason is not even realistic ones like internalized homophobia but just the vague “laura lee is too saintly” argument over and over again.

Idk I’m really weirded out ig by the idea that some of y’all think that laura lee being religious/kind = her not possibly having a romantic connection with lottie. Ik that it’s probably due to people’s experiences with religion and devout people, but taking laura lee’s character as just someone who is saintly and kind instead of acknowledging that she’s also a regular teenage girl who had a deep connection with one of her teammates is such an underwhelming take for her.

Ig it also ties to the perception that religious girls are prudish so that must mean they’re overly conservative about their relationships and like… can we not?? I’m so tired of this nonsense. (Also LL being in a soccer team is already so far from the stereotypical religious girl archetype i literally dont even know what to say anymore)

This isn’t shade btw but i do personally find it shady when it’s obvious that people have very specific one-dimensional takes on laura lee.

most unrealistic part of yellowjackets was actually that nat didn’t have more people on the plane with her. I know that would have spoiled like literally everything but realistically natalie “survivor’s guilt” scatorccio actually hallucinated every single person who died in the woods +travis +her dad +melissa (since she died without ever knowing melissa faked her death). Yeahhh. Im ngl i do say i have a love hate relationship with Travis, but it’s more for personal reasons and genuinely lighthearted. He’s so integral to the plot, and I do believe that the hate towards his character is out of hand. His character is NECESSARY because how would they depict the nuances and complexities of girlhood if they have no point of comparison????

What ticks me off the most is that some people I’ve seen only hate his character because of ship wars. Im not into policing what other people can like or dislike because we’re all entitled to our own opinions and it’s really not that serious, but there are some people who really question others’ comprehension of media simply because they don’t understand how others could see and appreciate the importance of Travis. There’s so much to be said about those specific type of people complaining that others do not understand the show because they think Travis is important, when it’s really their comprehension that comes into question because how can you even say that Travis, whose journey was filled with so many challenges that allowed him to see eye to eye with the girls and develop camaraderie with them, is not needed?? His story is an important depiction of how teenage boys are not born without sympathy for their female peers—they’re taught to be that way.

“why would a man be there?!” well travis’s character serves as a plot device to every single girl out there to the point that he is neglected by the writers as his own character. not to mention he QUITE LITERALLY represents the crumble of patriarchal values and how the women gain control out there and how the society changes to be more feminine in its entirety

I think Laura Lee did the “you are beautiful in the eyes of the lord” because she got excited to compliment everyone but when it came time she couldn’t think of anything

That’s honestly so cute!! I feel like she definitely wants to say nice things about her teammates, but I also think that she had some fun with it cause they weren’t talking to her properly just a few minutes before. To be fair though, being beautiful in the eyes of god is definitely a compliment from laura lee, but the way I see her character is that she would have fun about saying some out of pocket religious stuff from time to time with her teammates not taking her seriously.

(With that said, her interaction with Van was so wholesome. They’re sooo best friends i love them.)

Girl what???? She had a horrifying experience post-rescue, but that doesn’t negate the fact that she wasn’t doing well in the wilderness either. No one knew how to handle what Lottie was going through, and she’s the loneliest she’s ever been because her motivation to live was the idea that the girls needed her despite the fact that they were putting her on a pedestal. That pedestal may have put her above them, but that just means she was also away from them.

Old wounds: the title is not primarily related to LL but it’s the episode with her saving lottie from hypothermia—she’s forever Lottie’s old wound that never heals. (Also the episode where Taivan reunite cause they’re each other’s old wounds!!!!!!!!!!)

She started out so unserious as a character and then she just goes on and rips my heart out.
