There is a strong connection between what you think and what you say. What you think will come out in your words. But also your words can affect your thinking. What you say to God can change your thinking. The psalmist tells us to speak aloud about God’s goodness: ‘Say this, “God you’re my refuge. I trust in you and I’m safe!”’ (v.2, MSG).

Don't be easily offended
Good sense makes a man restrain his anger, and it is his glory to overlook a transgression or an offense’ (v.11, AMP).
Lord, forgive me when I am too easily offended. Thank you that, through the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, you overlook my offences. Help me through that same power to overlook the offences of others.

Bible in one year
Words kill, words give life; they’re either poison or fruit – you choose’ (v.21, MSG). You can do great good or great damage with what you say.
Lord, may the words I speak be a source of life to those around me.

Prayer
Lord, thank you so much for the inspiring example of those like the apostle Paul. Whatever the outward appearance or circumstance, may my heart be full of joy. May I not judge people or situations by how they look from the outside, but like you, always look to the heart.

Prayer
Lord, I need your wisdom. Please give me a wise and discerning heart in every situation I face. Lord, I pray for the wisdom that comes from heaven and is first of all pure, peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere (3:17).

Prayer
Dear Lord,
Thank You, God, for reminding me that I have You and the Holy Spirit– the ones that I should be depending my life on.
Help me to activate my faith, help me to remember to rely on You, to pray, and to pray in tongue regularly throughout my day. Help me not to segregate prayer as only something that I do on a certain time!
I yearn to live a Spirit-led life!
Thank You, Lord. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.

As Joyce Meyer points out, ‘God always puts us around someone who is like sandpaper to smooth off our rough edges… a testing that takes place before we get promoted. If you want to lead you must first serve in circumstances that may not be ideal and learn to behave wisely. This prepares us to be greatly used by God.’

Praying in Jesus’ name is about aligning yourself with Jesus. As you do this, your prayers harmonise with God’s desires for your life and you can pray that his will be done. You cannot do this on your own. You need the Holy Spirit.

Prayer
Lord, thank You for helping me to quiet down and spend time reading your words today. Continue to speak to me, dear God. Peel away the layers of superficiality and reveal what is real and gnawing inside of me. Holy Spirit, anoint me with wisdom. In Jesus' name I pray, amen.

‘He trained us first, passed us like silver through refining fires... pushed us to our very limit, Road–tested us inside and out, took us to hell and back; Finally he brought us to this well–watered place’ (vv.10–12, MSG).

Dear Lord,
Help me to be intentional in being quiet inside amidst the busyness of life, so that I can always hear You. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.

During my quiet time this morning.
