Yosemite National Park: A UNESCO World Heritage Site
The Yosemite Valley, Mother Nature's most stunning creation, is encircled by sheer granite cliffs and domes formed by glaciers millions of years ago. When John Muir discovered Yosemite in the 1860s, he called it "the grandest of all unique temples of Nature" and helped to establish it as a protected national park.
Yosemite attracts roughly four million people each year to marvel at its breathtaking natural beauty. Since 1864, this national park in California's High Sierra has been under protection.
In 1984, UNESCO classified this enormous wilderness of 1,200 square miles as a World Heritage Site, including 800 kilometers of hiking routes. Along the flowing Tuolumne River, one of the most awe-inspiring walks on the famed Pacific Crest Trail may be discovered.

Mendocino Coastline
Few sites in the world can match Mendocino's breathtaking coastline, where the Pacific's deep blue waters slam up against high cliffs and lap into calm, hidden bays. The fresh air refreshes visitors, while the spectacular seaside vistas motivate them.
The weather in Northern California is generally chilly and foggy, making it ideal for trekking rather than sunbathing. At Mendocino County's many state parks, nature lovers can take walks along the ocean cliffs and isolated beaches, as well as through dark redwood trees. The historic village of Mendocino is a destination in and of itself, perched on a seaside bluff overlooking Mendocino Bay. This well-preserved Victorian-era logging town is on the National Register of Historic Places, and its many tourist attractions, art galleries, locally owned boutiques, bed and breakfasts, and restaurants thrill modern-day visitors.

San Luis Obispo and the Central Coast
San Luis Obispo, dubbed the "Happiest City in America," welcomes guests with a welcoming atmosphere and interesting tourist attractions. This fun-loving college town, tucked away in the foothills of the Santa Lucia Mountains about 10 miles from the beach, has year-round sunlight, a historic Spanish mission, and a weekly farmers' market with live music.
Within a 30-minute drive of San Luis Obispo are two popular Central Coast beaches: the surfer's favorite Pismo Beach and the more quiet and resort-like Avila Beach, which is a top destination for sunbathing, paddleboarding, kayaking, and fishing.
