I kind of love that (according to the ec) Neil doesn't punch Jack until Jack swings at Neil first.

Cause I imagine Jack like the other Foxes is there cause he's had a rough life too, maybe abusive parents.

So even though he disrespects and treats Neil like shit Neil remembers what Wymack told him: that he'd never hit a kid unless the kid swung at him first.

Cause no matter how else you wanna look at it, Neil is older than Jack by a year and has power over him as his Vice Captain. Nora says in the EC that Neil tells the others he'll handle it and even though Kevin, Andrew and probably the other Foxes are like: "Hey Neil put this guy in his place already" Neil doesn't. He's waiting.

In the EC when Jack finally swings at Neil, Neil punches his ass out (thanks Matt for the boxing lessons).

Jack learns his place. The end ish.

But this is kind of cool cause Neil isn't a saint by far, but when it comes to his Foxes, even the new ones, Neil extends a lot of patience. And he's emulating Wymack here, and I love that.

the trials and tribulations of evan buckley is actually so much funnier in hindsight cause his entire storyline for this season really was just. emotional distress. like HE didn't do anything but first he got into a weird psychosexual relationship with his ancient bigot boss then he got cursed with boils then his first boyfriend broke up with him then his sister got kidnapped then his two best friends/husband and child moved 800 miles away then his dad died. evan buckley and the year-long tummy ache. I hope his first storyline in 9a is getting on anxiolytic drugs

I think the overall dynamic between kandriel regardless of whether you’re shipping the three of them or it’s a qpr or they’re friends or whatever is funny bc their behavior is not inherently romantic and they all kind of coparent each other and it’s funny like Andrew and Kevin are like Neil I swear to God if you don’t turn your phone on and take care of yourself I’m going to kill you or you’re going to have a permanent babysitter, and Andrew and Neil are like Kevin for fucks sake stand up for yourself and enjoy your life a little (stab your abuser it’ll be fun), and Neil and Kevin are like Andrew you can’t live exclusively off of ice cream you have to exercise and plan for the future because guess what bitch you have one and we aren’t letting you out of it

Obviously there is so much interesting in the Neil/Jean dynamic but what I'm currently obsessing over is the way Neil let's Jean see the tattered bloody and mad parts of Nathaniel Wesninski no one else gets to see.

Neil doesn't want the foxes to know Nathaniel, Kevin is too obsessed and too cowardly to want anything to do with him. Andrew would and does see him but his promises and the future they imply belong to Neil Josten

Other than Andrew, only Jean Moreau sees Neil without the mask, sees the madness in his smile, the casual and easy violence, the bloody heart that beats despite it all.

Like, yes its very funny when Jean calls Neil out for being an ill-bred cretin, but it's important to note he doesnt do that to be exaggerating or insulting, he does it because that's the side of him Neil let's him see that everybody else only gets flashes of. Jean is just calling what he's seeing not realizing most people don't get such a clear view.

Every time I see the entirety of Buck and Tommy’s first kiss scene, a tag that someone left on a gifset of it always pops into my mind. It said something along the lines of “the slow and deliberate erasure of space”. Like, yeah. Everything about the entire scene was deliberate and intentional. It was always the plan for them to work to close the distance between them. Until they were a hair’s breadth away from each other and connected by such a tender kiss.

Imagine Chimney going through Bobby's desk in his office. Having to clear personal things out. It breaks his heart, but also warms him because the captain was sentimental.

Then he comes across a small blue book labeled simply "Buck." Curious, he opens and flips through it.

Kid has eating problems. Will forget to eat when stressed. Feed him, and encourage him to cook, because he likes to taste-test a lot.

Chimney remembers that. Buck mentioning getting so hungry the starving pains go away. He does remember during the shitty times when Buck lost so much weight.

-Loves carbs

-Hates Okra

-Probably allergic to shellfish and mangos. Encourage him to get an allergy test

-Allergic to Naproxen

-Allergic to heavy fragrance laundry detergents. Use gentle.

-Remind him he's doing a great job. Use positive reinforcement.

-If he's depressed, as Maddie says, hand him a child. May and Harry work too.

-He's finally gaining weight! :)

-The Buckley parents are banned. Do not ask why. Firehouse is his safe area.

-He fidgets when he's stressed. Have him chop some vegetables or prepare them for you. He loves being helpful.

-He loves his clipboard. Have him organize important events. Give him gold stars. Do not let Hen and Chimney hide it. He gets sad.

-Remind him not to read too close or in the dark. He's gonna need glasses at this point. (If he does, don't let others tease him. Tell him he looks great)

-He doesn't admit it, but his leg still bothers him. Heating blankets are in the closet in the office. Have Eddie massage his leg or send him home early if he's obviously struggling.

Chim laughs. He laughs, and laughs, and starts to cry. Of all things, he did not expect to find a "How to Take Care of Your Buck" guide hidden away in Bobby's desk.

i love that evan buckley is simultaneously the sort of person who will go mad with power if given a clipboard, with zero tolerance if you mess with his carefully thought out plan, and also the sort of person who moves into a new place, slaps a bare mattress on the floor and doesn't even know his coffee maker is in a box he himself labeled "coffee maker."

tommy goes to the firehouse and sees clipboard!buck in action and is immediately turned on because buck's hot when he's being bossy but also "evan, where the fuck was this energy when you moved in and i spent three weeks tripping over boxes?"

eventually tommy realises the clipboard is key to the equation because it makes it a novel task™ and buck's brain gets tricked into thinking it's interesting.
