the stillness gives ale a brief period of peace, being notoriously good at blocking out other sounds. she took the time to scan the area, but she was unable to fully comprehend the chaos; people were simply multiplying like body cells without your knowledge. her  moment,  however,  cut  short  by  the  sound  of  glass  falling.  the  lack  of  reaction  from  the  girl  next  to  her  made  her  chuckle  slightly.  "  i  admire  how  unbothered  you  are,  truly.  "  her  gaze  still  focused  on  the  broken  glass  on  the  floor,  no  one  really  alarmed  by  the  fact.  at  the  comment  from  the  girl,  she  sighs.  for  a  while,  a  shrug  of  her  shoulders  is  her  only  reply.  "  well  .  .  .  they  do  say  life  is  full  of  suprises,  isn't  it  ?  it's  not  like  i'm  dying  to  get  out  per  se,  but  i've  hit  my  quota  of  events  for  about  this  entire  week.  if  i  have  to  hear  another  person  talk  about  how  they  met  x,  y  and  z  and  that  changed  their  lives,  i  might  just  lose  it.  "

 cordelia’s  silent  ⸺  she  must  admit  ,  it  was  a  good  point  .  not  only  she  had  to  pretend  like  she  knows  over  half  of  the  people  invited  ,  each  of  them  brought  a  plus  one  she  has  never  once  or  heard  of  in  her  life  ,  and  not  to  mention  a  numerous  groups  of  people  that  just  try  to  get  a  glimpse  at  the  life  of  wealth  .  she  lets  out  a  loud  sigh  ,  once  figuring  out  her  time  alone  isn’t  going  to  happen  anytime  soon  ,  she  quickly  empties  the  champagne  flute  only  to  rest  it  on  the  stairs  by  her  side  and  within  seconds  ,  watching  as  the  glass  trips  and  falls  down  the  stairs  ,  crumbling  to  pieces  .  “  well  ,  oops  .  ”  she  isn’t  moved  ,  her  face  completely  blank  and  she  doesn’t  even  pay  more  attention  to  the  glass  pieces  a  couple  stairs  below  .  finally  ,  she  turns  her  head  to  look  at  her  new  companion  ,  at  least  trying  to  make  conversation  .  “  that’s  supririsng  ,  actually  ⸺  everyone  else  wants  to  get  in  ,  not  out  .  ”

the  girl  pursued  her  lips  together,  her  finger  tapping  her  chin  as  in  deep  thought  at  the  question.  "  you  know  what  ?  i'm  feeling  a  bit  on  the  wild  side  so,  i  say,  let's  go  all  in.  let's  make  it  tabloid  worthy.  "

               “  well  that  also  depends  —  how  dramatic  do  you  want  the  outcome  to  be  ?  ”  she  asks,  lips  pouting  out  slightly  as  she  begins  to  pull  different  scenarios  from  her  brain  to  be  at  the  forefront  to  spit  out  ideas  instantly.  “  like  do  we  want  this  tabloid  worthy  or  just  for  your  own  personal  achievements  ?  ”

truth  be  told,  alessandra  doesn't  really  like  to  make  a  big  deal  out  of  things,  especially  in  front  of  others.  if  she  were  to  do  that,  she'd  rather  be  by  herself.  therefore,  she  wasn't  about  to  waste  neither  his  nor  her  time  by  making  a  scene;  at  the  same  time,  she's  not  new  to  how  this  industry  works  and  if  she  were  still  letting  things  like  this  get  to  her  .  .  .  then  she  wouldn't  be  able  to  still  be  in  it.  "  right.  people  have  the  attention  span  of  a  goldfish,  in  about  thirty  seconds  they'll  be  focusing  on  something  completely  new.  "  she  raises  an  eyebrow at her comment,  quickly relaxing as a  gentle  smile  appeared  on  her  face  at  the  sight  of  his.  "  thank  you,  i  appreciate  it.  i'll take your word for it then. "

        at  least  she  was  admitting  it.  he really hadn't wanted to sit through an argument of how this actually was the end of the world and he simply didn't understand. as if he hadn't been in this industry for years. then again, some people were more sensitive when it came to the opinions of others. luke could understand to an extent. the paparazzi and those who believed what they wrote without question simply didn't make the list of people who's opinion mattered.  ❝ exactly. probably won't even take twenty-four hours. ❞  he smiled, a gesture he hoped was encouraging. the slight waver in her voice hadn't gone unnoticed.  ❝ trust me. i've lived through it before. ❞

"  i  really  mean  it,  cross  my  heart  and  hope  to  die.  "  ale  replied,  immediately  putting  a  serious  expression  on  her  face  before  letting  the  smile  return  to  her  face.  "  ooooh,  i  love  that.  i'll  keep  you  to  that,  i  just  hope  you  know.  "  she  added,  the  tone  in  her  voice  showing  how  she  was  joking  around.  "  i've  missed  you  too,  very  much.  i  mean,  you  haven't  missed  a  whole  bunch,  it's  been  pretty  much  the  same:  work,  work  and  a  little  bit  more  work.  i  could  be  slightly  losing  my  mind  at  this  second  but  i'm  so  deep  in  work  mode  that  it  could  take  me  a  couple  hours  for  realization  to  hit  me,  you  know  ?  and  you  ?  "

‟ you really mean that or are you just sayin' it to spare my feelin's? ” angel's teasing, of course and it's obvious by the way her grin only seems to grow wider. she loves having ale around because when the two are together, it immediately screams an amazing night — which is needed after a long, never-ending week the brunette's had. she instantly welcomes the contact, keeping her arm raised as the two of them make way to the bar. ‟ i'll get you as many as you want, baby. just say the word and it'll be done,” and even if the words have a playful tune to them, angel means it. ‟ i've missed you. how's everythi' been? what have i missed on this week's episode of your life? ”

ale  smiles  at  evelyn,  eyebrows  slightly  raised  in  curiosity  at  the  statement.  "  alright, i hear you.  then,  what  do  suggest  we  start  with  ?  "

"  oh,  i  know.  i've  seen  a  couple  myself,  i'm  always  very  impressed.  it's  just  always  the  ones  that  really  bring  you  back  down  to  earth  that  manage  to  impact  you  the  most.  "  she  commented,  not  being  able  to  control  the  chuckle  that  escaped  her  lips.  "  i  can  imagine.  i  think  there  was  once  in  my  life  i  attempted  to  make  one  .  .  .  it  didn't  go  nowhere,  claro.  on  the  bright side,  the  more  you  make,  the  better  and  quicker  you'll  get  at  them.  "

"nah. i've seen a bunch of pretty cool edits with you in it," he said. "those people work really hard, no? i don't think they're getting paid for it. i guess they're just so passionate." it was pretty rare to hear them saying such outright sweet, positive things about other people, but it did happen every once in a while. fans, in particular, were a soft spot for them. he kept on glancing at his phone as the capcut app was downloading. "alright, i will. but it actually takes some time to make a decent edit."

as  much  as  alessandra  liked  to  pretend  she  wasn't  fazed  by  things,  both  good  or  bad,  she  would  always  end  up  slipping.  her  body  language  betraying  her  every  single  time,  and  this  time  it  wasn't  any  different.  granted,  different  types  of  situations  demanded  vastly  different  reactions,  in  this  case,  it  actually  wasn't  something  she  was  too  fazed  about.  still,  the  wavering  in  her  voice  when  she  spoke  about  it  set  her  nonchalant  and  careless  stand  on  fire.  "  i  know,  i  know.  i'm  just  being  dramatic.  "  she  waved  him  off  with  a  shrug  of  her  shoulders.  "  está  tudo  bem.  i  only  have  to  wait  it  out,  it'll  be  a  matter  of  time  before  the  paparazzi  report  on  some  ridiculous  crap  .  .  .  right  ?  "

        somewhere  in  his  mind  he  was  aware that they were still talking but while he nodded every now and then, he'd mainly zoned out. luke had never been one to care about what the paparazzi had to say. if some liked him, great. if others didn't then he wasn't going to lose sleep over it. but luke knew not all shared the outlook. finally, he sighed and interjected,  ❝ look, i'm sure this will all blow over the minute some more interesting gossip appears, and then everyone will forget about it. ❞  even if it didn't, whining about it wouldn't change the situation but he had enough sense to not say that.

as  used  to  this  types  of  events  as  alessandra  could  be,  each  one  felt  like  she  was  experiencing  them  for  the  first  time  again ;  particularly  dreadful.  after  some  time,  her  face  gets  stuck  .  .  .  the  ability  to  express  anything  other  than  a  smile  is  immediately  vanishes.  spending  the  last  half  hour  talking  and  being  talked  to  about  things  she  can't  bother  to  remember,  absentmindedly  she  wonders  around  the  space.  eventually  halting  to  a  stop  if  only  to  catch  her  thoughts  —  not  noticing  the  other  person  until  they  spoke.  a  low  chuckle  escaped  from  her  lips,  not  particularly  bothered  by  the  comment.  "  you  might  have  a  bit  of  a  situation  then,  i've  seen  about  a  dozen  of  those  so  far.  "  a  long  breath  follows  before  she  allows  her  eyes  to  rest  for  a  couple  minutes.  "  and,  no,  i  don't  need  anything.  chill,  i'm  only  taking  a  break  is  all.  my  apologies  for  having  disturbed  your  moment  of  tranquility.  "

 she’s  been  exchanging  small  talks  with  models  the  entire  evening  ,  most  of  them  forcing  her  to  put  on  a  fake  persona  (  someone  who  actually  wants  to  talk  to  them  ,  someone  they  remember  )  despite  how  she  couldn’t  recall  the  last  time  they  talked  .  it  was  her  father’s  event  though  ,  someone  who  she  always  stood  by  and  who  always  stood  by  her  .  they’re  going  to  grace  the  front  pages  in  the  morning  ⸺  the  ceo  of  tiffany  &  co  amongst  his  daughter  ,  an  article  praising  the  success  of  the  company  and  collaborations  with  high  end  models  and  how  cordelia  looks  beautiful  in  the  newest  designer  dress  .  she  bites  down  a  chuckle  ,  brown  hues  finally  dropping  on  the  blunt  rolling  in  between  her  fingers  which  she  had  stacked  in  her  mini  purse  ,  a  champagne  flute  in  the  other  hand  and  her  body  rests  on  the  stairs  behind  her  ,  eyes  shutting  so  she  can  allow  herself  to  enjoy  the  time  without  annoying  laughs  and  constant  talks  ⸺  or  at  least  that  was  the  plan  before  she  can  sense  a  body  dropping  next  to  her  ,  someone  confident  enough  to  bother  her  .  “  do  you  need  something  ?  because  i  don’t  recall  holding  up  an  open  invitation  to  strays  .  ”  her  eyes  remain  closed  ,  she  doesn’t  care  to  even  look  at  whoever  came  to  disturb  her  .
