as much as i absolutely, truly, ferociously loathe apple, it does need to be said that apple is only a mildly exaggerated caricature of the tech industry at large, and that the vast majority of tech sold as a boutique product to the techie subset, phones that are designed to be slimmer and slimmer, laptops with non user replaceable batteries, they all have the same disposability issues

all consumer level tech needs massive, competely fundamental overhauls in how they are produced and how they are expected to last and, when they are inevitably outmoded, how they are recycled
